TRANSLATION (below) FROM The QUEEN + ADAM LAMBERT PAGE ON THE ROCK IN RIO ~ BRASIL OFFICIAL WEBSITE (VIA GOOGLE TRANSLATE)

"26.02.2015 • 19 MINS AGO QUEEN + ADAM LAMBERT: THE RETURN OF THE ROYALTY ROCK IN RIO"

"The Queen made history at Rock in Rio is not news to anyone: headliner since the first edition of the festival in 1985, the British group made two unforgettable shows in Rock City."

"Now, in the 30 years of the festival, guitarist Brian May and drummer Roger Taylor, founding members of the band, bring all the glory of one of the greatest groups of all time to write another page of history. To come back in style, rely on the strengthening of Adam Lambert."

"You may even already know, but it never hurts to say: Adam is a giant on stage. Actor, composer and singer, he "only" sold 200,000 copies of their debut album in a single week. The second was straight to the top of the Billboard 200 best sellers. "

"The supergroup has been acclaimed wherever he goes. Now it's our turn! Queen + Adam Lambert on the first day of the Rock in Rio Brazil 2015 on 18 September. Will lose?"

"Besides them, the line-up of the festival also features the return of A-ha, John Legend, Katy Perry, another weight team. And that's just the beginning."

"Do not forget: ticket sales takes place in April."

And it's all but officially announced that they'll be doing some other concerts as well in South America..

Waiting for that announcement too.. There have been multiple unofficial announcements about shows at least in three countries: Brazil, Chile and Argentina as I recall...

Wouldn't make sense to ship all of that massive amount of stage set up for just one show..Might as well make a proper TOUR out of it!!!

Queen + Adam Lambert to Rock in Rio
Thirty years on, Queen return with Adam Lambert to scene of history making 1985 Rock in Rio Concerts for ‘Rock in Rio 30 Years’
Following 67 sold-out concerts performed together around the world, Queen + Adam Lambert head to South America to top the opening night at Rock in Rio Brazil “30 Years Celebration” edition on Friday September 18.
Rio de Janeiro, February, 26th, 2015 - Says Rock in Rio President and Founder Roberto Medina: “30 years ago, Queen performed in front of 250,000 people who fell in love with the band, and it became one of the most iconic moments of Rock in Rio. I am positive that the moments from 30 years ago will be rejuvenated and rejoiced with Queen + Adam Lambert, making it again a moment no one will ever forget."
The 70’s saw Queen ascend to rock royalty. With the arrival of the 1980’s they were undisputedly one of the biggest stadium rock bands in the world. But living up to their own mantra ‘I want it all, and I want it now’, Queen were determined to push the envelope to its limits. Taking an unprecedented path, Queen became the first act ever to undertake a stadium tour of South America, playing world cup stadiums in Argentina and Brazil, culminating in two nights at Brazil’s Morumbi Stadium in Sao Paulo on March 20 and 21st, 1981. Over those two nights, Queen drew a staggering 250,00 people, at that time the biggest paying concert audience the world had seen.
But Queen was to create even bigger history in South America when in January 1985 the band returned to Brazil to headline two nights, including the opening night concert, at Rock in Rio, an awesomely ambitious new music festival invented by advertising mogul Roberto Medina that had set its sights on establishing itself as the biggest new kid on the global block, not only for Brazilian eyes to see, but throughout the world
Queen’s opening night January 11, 1985 at Rio’s custom built City of Rock exploded the record books, drawing an audience of over 250,00. The band’s second appearance on January 18, brought their total Rock in Rio audience beyond 500,000. Televised to over 60 countries across the world, Queen’s shows were watched by nearly 200 million people. Queen albums occupied all top ten places in the Brazilian album chart and “Love of My Life” became a new Brazilian anthem.
Billboard magazine headlined the event: “South America Bites the Dust!”. “We came to South America originally because we were invited down. They wanted four wholesome lads to play some nice music. Now I’d like to buy up the entire continent and install myself as President," quipped a thrilled Freddie at the time.
Now, three decades on from those historically enshrined shows, Queen are later this year to return to perform at the Rock in Rio festival, now unquestionably one of the world’s biggest annual events. Queen + Adam Lambert will headline the main stage on opening night of Rock in Rio’s 30 Years edition on Friday September 18, 2015.
Queen and Lambert made the announcement at the closing of their recent sold-out 26 date UK and European tour which ended February 27 with three extra UK shows and had seen the band play to over 300,000 people. “We’re Back ! Rockin’ in Rio ! Can’t wait ! See ya there, guys !!”, announced Queen guitarist Brian May.
Queen’s drummer Roger Taylor said: "How great to be coming back to Rio to rock you even harder than before.” And singer Adam Lambert added: "I'm so excited to be joining Queen at Rock in Rio! This will be a triumphant return for them, and my first time in South America!"
The full Rock in Rio 30 Years festival runs for seven nights over two weekends - September 18,19 and 20 and September 24, 25, 26 and 27. Other artists already announced to appear include Katy Perry, System of a Down, Slipknot, A-Ha, Queens of the Stone Age, Faith No More, Hollywood Vampires, Metallica and John Legend.

Thanks for the other links..

This is VERY exciting for QAL and SAmerican fans alike. :)))

.... Hoping this doesn't mean that Adam won't be touring as much for A3? Or, would he do both? .... Or alternate?

I'm sure a very smart artist such as he and his agencies can figure it all out, or already have. Still.... I guess it just makes me wonder....

Anyone have any thoughts?

@yada
From the other as yet unconfirmed rumors I've heard (about a South American Queen + Adam Lambert Tour), the SA tour would be in the month of Sept.. but we know how things have a way of ending up being extended..

I really do think Adam will be able to juggle both.. and promote his new music as well as do his own shows.. and hopefully tour on his own too!!! I'm in awe and in love with Queen and Adam Lambert and this incredible collaboration they have.. but SOOO anxious for Adam's next round of solo concerts..... It's been TOO LONG!!!!

Best of both world is perfect...

Since Warner Music must already have approved this gig to South America, they must also have a plan in place for Adam's own music. South America has been calling Adam to come down there for some time, and they also wanted Queen. Now they have both for the price of one ticket. I am sure Warner Music is very pleased for this further exposure for Adam, it sure hasn't hurt his career so far. They will still have to promo his new album, but this will make it a whole lot easier, that many more people will know who he is besides his fans. His album will be released by then, so probably it will generate more sales. Warner Music, seem to be very very interested in promoting Adam to the skies. They are seeing first hand how the public love him already. Queen is doing half their job for them, at no cost to them. It might be a tiring year for Adam, but he is young and healthy, and NOW is when to strike while the iron is hot. And Adam is scorching hot. In Rio it was Adam that was trending , not Queen. Also Freddie. Anne Marie

How do I search for older threads on this blog i.e. threads that have gone to the 2nd and 3rd pages and beyond?

Back to this thread .....

Very excited for the South American fans and for Adam who's never been there before.

Just checked Twitter.
Adam now not trending in Rio, nor Freddie.

I watched "Queen: Mercury Rising" earlier. It went right back to the beginning - very interesting.

Those are solid points and insightful considerations, glitzylady and Anne Marie. Thank you, guys!

Glitzy.... I, too, am in love with this QAL collaboration... I truly adore it... and, yet, SUPER ready for A3 as well! I believe Adam can also juggle both concert dates very well. And, as Anne Marie mentioned... Adam is young and seems these days even more energized and healthier than ever!

I suppose I just also wonder... Since QAL has added dates upon demand.... And September seems like a prime touring time for a summer album release... I hope the scheduling doesn't conflict and Adam hasn't the prime opp to "strike while the iron is hot" on his album's premium touring markets (he can't be in two parts of the world at the same time?).

However, having mentioned that.... I also realize that now a days it is not unusual for an artist to tour on upwards to two years related to a hot-selling, popular album. Warner definitely knows what to do accomplish that.... And yes, Queen is doing wonders for Adam's promo (as a solo artist).

This SA tour will really enable Adam to break into that market with much more saturation and with his album released by then... It can a only help for his album sales. (Look at what happened with his last two albums... just in Europe alone even a years after their releases?

Besides.... It may only be a few dates in SA... For a few weeks. Piece of cake for Adam......

Thanks again for offering your info and thoughts! :)))

8:51 PM, at the bottom of the first(main) page is an arrow that says "older posts." Click on that.

.... Oh, and about my mention of "a few dates" and, "maybe a just a few weeks"....

I don't mean for that to sound undermining to a coming SA QAL tour.... However long it is.

It will be as long as it should be.... What will serve and delight some hungry SA fans waiting a long time for this. And, most importantly it will be AWESOME. No doubt! :)))

You can search a couple of ways..

Go to the right side of the blog and you'll see "RECENT POSTS".. There are usually about 25 or so threads which encompass approx 2 and a half pages (there are 10 threads per "page").

You can also go to the extreme bottom of the page, under the last thread on the page and look to the lower right also.. under the thread.. It will say "Older Posts".. Click on that and it will take you to the second page of 10 posts..and so on back.. you can go forward in the same way: Click on "Newer Posts" in that case..

You can also go to the "Search" box and put in a "Key Word".. name, subject etc..

Hope that helps... :)))

You can also do a Google Search by putting in a phrase, etc.. Quite often an Adam Lambert 24/7 News item will come up..

Happy Searching!!!

Thanks so much for that info. I know about RECENT POSTS (I've been on this blog since the very beginning) but I couldn't find where to access threads that go beyond that and now you've pointed me in the right direction. I've never looked that far down the page to find "Older Posts" so thank UUUUU - as always, you've been very helpful. :-)

Really hoping this and any additional dates don't interfere with Adam promoting and touring with The Original High. While QAL is great, I'm a bigger fan of Adam's solo career.

The whole time he is singing with Queen, he is promoting himself. Hopefully his album will be out around that time, and his old fans and his new fans will be rushing out to buy his music. In the fall and before Christmas, I hope we will be hearing his singles on the radio. Warner Music has everything well in hand.

Rock in Rio is a Once in a Lifetime Thing for Adam - if it still is the kind of happening that it used to be, it's worth doing just for the hell of it, it will go down in history and will be something his will not regret (I'm sure!) nor achieve with touring on his own any time soon... however good his own music is and will be. So let's just rejoice to the fullest for Queen and for Adam!
