'Adam didn't win because he was too perfect...' I don't buy that at all. How often do you come across perfection let alone 'too perfect'. She may be right though, if I interpret it as people are not comfortable if someone is 'too perfect' when he/she is different, non-conforming. Yes, people tend not to accept another whom they feel may climb over their heads, which amounts to close-mindedness or a feeling of intimidation.

The thing is, he's still being talked about - he is the golden marker - and no one has been able to match him.

That knocks home the point...real pristine talent can never be eliminated. It's like oil that always floats on water, unless in space. lol!

Even Queen, the mighty Queen couldn't have planned a mini South American Tour, unless they, Brian, Adam, Roger...had won half the world , 67 sold out arenas,during glorious "sieges". The Queen South American fans, like Iron Maiden's , like Metallica's are the most passionate, enthusiastic, loyal fans, ever. I so much want Adam to be embraced by them, to be accepted as the best current Queen front man.The success of Ghost Town/The Original High can help him get this aura.
It's more than that, this success can, finally, help him become mainstream.
A short story, I went to the "siege" of Vienna with 2 friends, one quite familiar with Queen catalog, the other, for the sake of a rock concert atmosphere, but both quite skeptic , they drove me crazy during our soirees repeating "he has a weak voice"!
You can't imagine their surprise when Adam sang the first note of One Vision. The morale, in a few words ,MANY, MANY LIVE CONCERTS!

Paula was overwhelmed with that performance as usual as the supportive judge that she always was towards Adam, who I think was her favorite from the very beginning. They are still friends and supportive of each other to this very day!

Adam Lambert is a fighter, stubborn and has a vision that's why he keeps winning from the haters!!!!:) Big bosses are realizing why Adam is on top of his peers!!!:)

The only big stars from idol are Kelly and carrie. Second to them is jennifer Hudson, and then daughtry. After that there are 30 or more idols who are still doing well. Adam is in that group.

@6:45 I can agree with you that Underwood, Clarkson and Hudson are the top 3 Idols in terms of commercial success. And Daughtry may even be #4.

But you lose credibility with your statement that Adam is just one among the next 30 most successful Idols. I smell troll. Or at least a person who is poorly informed.

You don't have to look far to see many other idols who have done better than adam, scotty mccreery is still with rca and working on his fourth album in four years, kat McPhee is starring in a hit TV show and putting out her next album with a major label this year, Fantasia has won grammys, starred on briadway and had her own vh1 TV series. People like jordin and phil phillips had much bigger hits than Adam. People like Reuben and clay sold millions of albums for a few years. Taylor hicks, Diana degarmo, have no problem getting good gigs in vegas or Broadway, there are a ton of them.

I just wrote a rather lengthy post about who the "biggest" Idols are, IMO. I decided not to send it, thank God. This thread would have disintegrated into an argument. Suffice it to say, that I think Adam is right up there with the top three or four Idols. He has that star quality that transcends record sales. He still makes news. He is not generic in any way. Hope he can diversify his talents, as other Idol alums have done. I think if an average person who has watched Idol over many years was to name a few of the top alums, Adam's name would come up in the top three or four. Like him or not, he has made a lasting impact.

Looks like while I was re-writing my post, the debate had already begun. Yes, a number of Idol alums have got great, steady, successful jobs post-Idol. I give props to all of them. But I think Kelly, Carrie, Jennifer and Adam are probably the only one with that superstar quality. That star quality transcends sales. It's a special thing. I know we all like who we like, and all these Idols have their passionate fans. It isn't always about how many records you sell. Lots of artists tour all the time and put out albums, but they never become big stars.

Lol, it's only your opinion that adam has that star quality. Surely you can see that, right? Haha do you know how many people absolutely cringe when they see adam? He is very polarizing.

Go to a david cook board and they all think david is the best singer who was ever on the show. Scotty fans see him as a huge rising star in country music. Personally, I don't see any star quality in boring carrie or fat as a pig kelly clarkson, but you can't deny they are stars based on their success.

I don't think it is fair to say that ADAM isn't the star that we think he is b/cuz ADAM is a STAR ... ADAM has MORE *Star* quality than Scotty or some of the other so-called 30 or more whoever 'they' might be that are being referred to. Being recognized WORLDWIDE certainly is an indication of that!! Are Scotty & the other 30 as recognized Worldwide as is ADAM?? I very much doubt that!! Go to other countries & see just how sought-after 'they' (the unknown majority) are!! JMHO

Anyone with an ounce of common sense and no bias when it comes to Adam Lambert; knows, or should know, that Adam Lambert is the one of the most interesting Idols of all! No need to even mention the most talented.

Why in the world is there so much excitement now here in the States and all around the world for Adam Lambert? The man is buzz worthy, and talented in spades. Many people are just discovering him with the release of his new single, and many are rediscovering him. To think that this nobody was nominated for a Grammy; and the only Idol to be called back to sit in as Judge on Idol. This nobody was picked up by Warner Music, who is cultivating his talents, and treating him like the mega star that he deserves to be treated; and they are reaping the fruits day by day; with the release of his new single. They hired him within 24 hours after word was out that he had VOLUNTARILY left RCA because of creative differences, he left with with respect for and from RCA executives.

According to Roger Taylor of Queen; Adam has the a one in a billion voice, and Brian May calls Adam a "Gift From God"! This was witnessed by millions of people all over the world as he toured with them; and the
Queen + Adam Lambert tour will convene later in the year by overwhelming demand from many South American Countries.

Maybe if some people were not lost in the Idol bubble; they would see that there is a big wide world out their, and in that world the measure of star quality is real talent that excites the masses. If you mentioned some of the names that were listed beyond the Idol bubble, you would probably get a stare so blank, you would think that you are in a "GHOST TOWN"! True talent cannot be denied; not if you are Adam Lambert! So Debbie Downers and Negative Nicks; take your fairy tales elsewhere; not buying it. Go google Adam and look him up on You tube; you will get more facts and more beautiful music from him. Word of advice, throw all those tired old Idol statics out the window and face the truth; Adam Lambert is and will be, a force to be reckoned with; get used to it!

And on a note related to how this comments section has gone - take a look at some of the World Stats for GT (in newer threads on this site and elsewhere). It's the early days for GT still btw, we shouldn't forget that. Adam's appeal worldwide is something, I do believe it's fair to say, that Carrie Underwood and Scotty M & probably Jordan Sparks, for just another example, will probably not attain. I say PROBABLY, never say never is a motto I go by generally... but you guys will get my drift. And other Idols do have Worldwide recognition, like Kelly Clarkson & J Hud...and I believe others are absolutely capable of attaining it like Philip Phillips and Daughtry ('tho Daughtry may already have it), and Kat McPhee for acting and possibly her singing career (she's truly amazing) ... anyway, blah blah blah, but that poster upthread seems so sure of him/herself regarding Adam's satus as an Idol alum - WHO CARES I say, jmo, about Adam's status as an AMERICAN IDOL alum... he is ALREADY recognizable as a good artist in many areas around the globe... I am not going to bore y'all with stats, I don't have to. I love a lot of Idol Alums (love Crystal Bowersox!!) and 'though I admittedly have not watched in years, I do think it's fair to say that Adam has done well by the show... I am no longer concerned about where he fits in to the Idol scale of success. It's kinda fun 'though, these discussions are enjoyable to me actually, but ultimately he got from the show what he needed, everyone knows that, certainly anyone taking the time to comment on this site ;), and it doesn't matter how he stacks up against any of the other contestants any more! :) Peace Folks.

I've seen various articles in 2014/2015 that indicate/rank Adam's growing commercial success listed among the top 8 (tied for 8th place in Billboard's list of "Top American Idols of All Time" and that was back in 2012... His success has grown since then).....

And Forbes keeps track of these things as well. Forbes is predicting that Adam Lambert will be much higher ranked in terms of net income earned from overall commercial success as an entertainer world-wide in 2015. (Some polls and articles have predicted Adam at #4 for 2015. I believe there is a post here on 24/7 a few months back about that as well) However, for 2014, he did place as number #7 on the income list (based upon overall commercia venues - concerts, album sales, tours, etc).

Forbes list for 2014 had this to say about Adam (excerpt):

"Other notable names on the list include ... Adam Lambert, who landed at No. 7 with $2.5 million. After touring as the frontman of Queen, the latter is set for a much higher payday on next year’s list. "
