So both Adam and his close friend Joey are promoting weed. Joey posted the other day IG-photo where he had joint in his hand and Adam was sitting with him on the sofa (Adam's tattoeed hand and a bit of hair is seen). Joey tagged his photo "chasing the original high". Now Adam posts a photo of weed plants. Good PR?
Maybe it's not so dangerous to do this in US. Isn't it legalized in California too (I don't reallly know). Adam's friend Markus Molinari promotes it too; he has had several jewellery about weed leafs.
I just don't like it. In my country it is still illegal to even smoke weed and it is categorized as illegal drug. Doctors can order it to some MS-patients etc. who have severe diseases.
The whole song, ghost Town, one track from Original High, is Adam being very high from weed, ( which he admits openly, he likes) is his allusion or dream from this experience, and Hollywood seemed like a ghost town. He doesn't care if he goes down down down. Adam has sung about drugs before. Don't think this was a good choice of song for his 'come back'. We will see how it is accepted, because a lot of his audience is right with him and love weed.
Just for the record, weed is legal for recreational use (with some restrictions depending on the state) in 5 states, including the District of Columbia.. Colorado, Washington, Alaska, and Oregon.
A considerable number of states allow sales of medical marijuana with a prescription.. for a wide variety of medical conditions..
I live in Washington State.. It's pretty much a non-issue here. And remember, alcohol is a drug too.. All things in moderation is a good rule to follow..
I seriously doubt Adam's career or his new single roll out will be compromised by his Instagram picture..
@Anon 1:32 PM Really?? And you know all of this because...?
Perhaps a preface to your post "In my opinion.." might be a good idea here......
I haven't seen Adam say anywhere, any time, that was his inspiration for "Ghost Town" was from smoking weed... And "a lot of his audience is right with him and love weed." What??!!
@Glizylaldy: I know weed is not a bid deal in USA. In my country it is illegal drug and you get punished if you are caught smoking or dealing it etc.; alcohol is not illegal in my country although of course it causes a lot of trouble in people's lifes.
I just don't like celebrities promote illegal stuff in any way. I see the not so nice results of the use at my work.
Okay, I have some other thoughts about the pictures Adam posted one after the other on his Instagram acct...last night (LA time)..
I think they're some rather personally meaningful images that represent his own personal icons from back in the day, and today, that he used to visually illustrate symbolically, his new single "Ghost Town" and images representing the concept of his new album "The Original High" (for instance the bottle of Tequila and the marijuana leaves..). I don't see it as "promotion" of weed etc.. Just some images that he wanted to share..
It's really too bad we get stuck on just one image when there are so many more interesting photos he shared with his fans..
@glitzlady I totally agree we spend too much time overanalyzing celebrities motives. Adam was tossing out images sometime ago with words from the new song and one in particular "Tonight Elvis is dead" brought a whole lot of specualtion (a raft of sh$te) about Adam being depressed and taking drugs and yada yada. Some people can read anything into any comment. When Better Than I Know Myself came out, Adam laughed and commented about all the mystical meanings, and said "it's just a fun video with a little different slant. No big mystery to uncover." I think the iamges reflect a lot of things and only he knows their meaning. He likes to provoke a lot of thinking, but sometimes we go way off the rails in finding negative meaning to his images. Adam just wants to make music, not controversy. Oh, I loved all the images. They took me back to days gone by! 50's and 60's when westerns and hippies ruled! LOL
@12:48. Adam falls in lust, with many guys, rarely 'in love'. He is still searching for love, he may never find it, but in the meantime 'lust ' will do. He seems happy and content with being single, with no committing relationships. As he said yesterday in an interview, he is having fun being single. Which means dating anyone is fair game, for one and all. He is a free man.
I agree I don't think Adam is interested in a relationship, right now. His schedule is so full, he couldn't possibly devote much time to a partner. He has plenty of friends who are willing to date him on a very short term basis. For now he is enjoying being single, not the right time to be looking for a partner, not fair on either of them.
If you fall in love there is no wrong time. Ask the few Hollywood stars who manage to work alot and yet stay together. If Adam found the person he really falls in love with,I think he might enjoy the high to work it out somehow. He was on his own in Sweden for 2 months as he said "reflecting". Perhaps feeling GT a way to express a void for now. But he says he is happy single. Not looking for love, but it happens sometimes under the most unexpected circumstances. I think Sauli was an "out of the blue" kind of love. Possibly the original high he alludes to. But those highs are hard to maintain and he speaks to that in his interviews.
Sauli visited him in Sweden, as he has done this last whole year, but both of them say the same thing they are single and enjoying it. What's not to enjoy when your ex visits you all the time. I think that will stop for a while now, since Feb, Sauli has been in Finland working, and it looks like he has summer work too. Adam appears to be doing some dating with old friends, but he want's to be single, he made that abundantly clear in his last couple of interviews. From what Adam actually said was, it seems like it would be nice to be in a relationship, but then you get tired of it. He means HE gets tired of it, and wants to have his freedom again. Never ever considered getting married, that speaks volumes, means he doesn't ever want a total commitment, forever. I am glad Adam realizes this about himself, he has tried it both ways, and likes being single best. With Sauli, he has had his cake and eaten it too, as the saying goes.
I looked at all the pix, and it didn't even occur to me that the weed was an issue at all. Adam has a lot going on in his life. Doesn't seem to me like weed is a major thing.
I am getting so sick of all these picture police on here! So silly; all the things that are going on with Adam in his life professionally, and some people are spending their time sitting around speculating on his love life; and what this young man does on his dates, or what bushes happen to be in a room he enters! Who he can and cannot date. Who he does or does not date. Even naming people in his life who they think he is, or is not in love with!
All this wonderful news; and they are all up in, and under this grown man's business. LEAVE ADAM'S PERSONAL AND PRIVATE LIFE ALONE; OFF LIMITS TO YOU! He will probably never like who you want him to. He has probably been there, done that and now he is moving on, with his life. He will probably sees his exes from time to time, hope that makes you content. I repeat, none of our business. If a nosey person had to pay a dollar to the charity of Adam's choice every time they told a BOLD FACED LIE ABOUT HIM; OR $5.00 for every false slanderous comment they made about him and lied and pretended it was true; Adam would be able to give his charities a boat load of money!!
The people that are saying all these things seems so very needy! Half the time I don't believe what I am hearing. I am on my way to preorder 2 gifts of TOH; I ordered 2 for myself yesterday!! I am over the moon excited about Adam's win in the UK, over all those other stars! They better get used to seeing him compete! So glad they taped his speech. Hope to get a clearer video that I can hear.
Quoting Adam when he first heard GHOST TOWN on the radio, "IT'S HAPPENING"! How cute is he???
CONGRATULATIONS ADAM! I bet he is over the moon! So many great things happening for him. I hope he will be able to get to some of these award shows; if even just to present. But, singing would be much, much better. I guess happiness makes Adam ultra sexy and beautiful. All these men and women are just gushing over him! He has such a delightful personality. He is so good in these interviews; I can sit and listen to him talk or sing all day long!
I can't wait to see him on Ellen next week! Yes, Adam it is happening. As the earlier poster said, I saw a video of Adam saying that too! He is so precious! So proud to be his fan! Adam has a great team; as a talented man of his stature should have!!!
People say these things about Adam, to try for all of you flailing at his feet, to just point out he is just an ordinary human being. He has a great talent, but so do thousands of others. I enjoy his music, but I will never bow down to him, like he is a god. He puts his pants on the same way as we do, one leg at a time. I would never be a Glambert, but I am a fan of his music, there is a huge difference. Get real people, supporting him is fine, but don't make him out to be a demi-god.
@Anon 6:19 PM One of the MANY things I admire about Adam is that he is VERY real, humble and has never tried to be anything but the human being (emphasis on human) that he is.
I'm a "Glambert" and proud to say that.
We're all imperfect but have our special qualities as well. I celebrate those things in my family, friends, and in Adam. To dwell on the negatives is sometimes to diminish the positives.
glitzylady, I agree with you, Adam is not asking for all this adoration. He is probably a bit embarrassed by it, when people say they feel faint at the mere sight of him. You took what I said backwards. As you say yourself he is a humble man, and has not put himself on a pedestal. I said it's the Glamberts that are doing that. He knows he is not above any other human being. But some of the comments coming from some of the Glamberts are very un-realistic. No human being could live up to their expectations.. His talent is way above some other singers, but other than that he is just a normal guy, trying to make his way in this world. Fans putting him up high on a pedestal, just makes his life harder for him. I am aware you have met him and spoken to him, and I am sure you came across just as nice to him as he was to you. When he is home, we all assume he is just as nice, as when he is in public, but we don't really know. Probably Sauli knows for sure and his mother. Adam has even said he has a dark side, most of us do. I don't think it is fair to Adam to treat him like he is not like any other human being, that's all.
@ 5:31PM But his music tells about his personal life: fall in love, be in love, gets tired of it, empty heart, quest for freedom, being high from weed, be cast down...
If he doesn't want us to know about his personal life, then why sing about it, in so many songs. He says at sometimes, it is not about him, then other times he says it is. Other times he speaks quite openly about his personal feelings, and his life. We are not guessing or speculating. Adam has said many times he is an open book. He says he wants to be in love, but he also wants to be single without commitment. I guess a lot of men want that.
He tagged his weed-photo OG KUSH. I had to check (I know nothing about the drugs). It is the best/high quality marijuana. Only best for Adam. He is wealthy man and can afford it.
It's good it is legal in USA, so he can smoke it without fear of condemnation.
But in this sense I admire more for instance guys like Neil Patric Harris and Lance Bass who seem to be guys who want to be in love and are able to be at the same time in commited relationship with their partners. They have been lucky that they have found so lovely partners.
@11:07 PM That means that he can keep on dating people who crap his heart. But surely he will settle down some day and find a person who plants flowers (not weed plants,lol) to his heart. Freddie was 39 years old when he settled, if I remember right from the document I saw about him and Queen.
He can and has had both, if both people agree to it. It's an unusual situation, I've never met anyone who can break up and lead a single life, and still keep the fires burning for an ex, when they are available. I personally couldn't do it, I am too jealous to share with others, but with no commitment I guess you accept it. I am in no way putting Adam down. This is how he has chosen to live his life. Legal or not I don't condone weed. Drinking is legal too, I don't condone that either, except in moderation. Anything that alters the mind is not good. It does not set a good role model
Weed and alcohol are both legal, but abuse of either one is not legal. Try driving a care, under the influence of weed, and get into an accident, and possibly kill someone. Then see how legal it is.
Weed is not freely accepted in the US. The Federal Government still considers it illegal even in states that have legalized it like Washington and Colorado (Oregon becomes legal in July). In legalized states there are still tight controls on possession and sales.
There may be a segment of the population who has no problem with smoking pot but overall it's use is still judged harshly. Many many work places do regular drug testing and you will be fired if you test positive for marijuana.
Please don't get a false impression that marijuana use is no big deal in the US or in the states where it is legal. It is a big deal and a large portion of the population does not approve of it's use.
Adam has two great friends, that he can bare his soul to, and that is Terrance and Sauli. These are two trustworthy guys, that he can and has depended on. Anyone can look happy when they are out with friends and having a few drinks at a bar, but is that same person really happy when they go home alone, and those friends are not there to share his innermost burdens. Money doesn't buy happiness, and weed and alcohol only cover up the problems for a little while.
Well I don't know who I have been chatting with this evening, I suspect a couple of people. It's been nice to air a few things, without someone jumping down my throat, for having an opinion. It's nice to talk to a civilized person, and polite. This rarely happens on here. Well I am off to bed. Thanks for the chat.
Danielle yes, but the other two are just old friends, I don't think he bares his soul to them. I actually forgot, I think he would be comfortable talking very personal things to Brian May. I think their relationship, is very close and caring, and Brian has been through a lot, and would understand where Adam is coming from. At this particular time he might even be Adams very best friend.
@11:49 PM I don't know if you mean me (I've been here quite a lot) but I've enjoyed this thread too. Opinions differ, you might not always agree with everyone but it's nice to "talk" and change sentiments. Nighty night!
Coming back here I find it interesting that my post at 1:38 PM was misunderstood..
Read it again about which states in the US have legalized it for recreational use.. I also stated that it has restrictions varying with each state..
It is indeed a drug.. And has the same basic rules and regulations that alcohol does in my state of WA. (plus a few more..). You don't drink and drive.. You don't smoke and drive.. You cannot drink in public in WA ie Parks, on the street, etc.. You cannot do that with weed either.. You can be fired from a job if you are are drunk on the job or test positive for drugs.. including marijuana. It is illegal for anyone under the age of 21 to drink or possess alcohol or smoke or possess marijuana.. It is also illegal to sell either of those to underage minors. The sale of marijuana is tightly regulated, both for recreational and medical use..
When I stated that it was a non-issue in my state, I was referring to the fact that for someone over 21 years old, it is legal to possess and smoke it, as outlined by the laws pertaining to it in the state of WA.. It is still, as some have said above, and yes, it is technically considered an illegal drug in the US.. But in spite of that, more states are decriminalizing it..
In my state, it is a non-issue re the legality (if not the advisability of smoking it) of it as long as the laws put forth by the legislature are followed..
It is certainly not without problems (just like alcohol).. And it has medical uses via prescription, which is legal in 23 states plus the District of Columbia....
We all know that there are people who have problems with alcohol and with various other drugs, including marijuana..
But the bottom line is, if it's legal in your state, you can do it..
1:20 PM and 11:07 PM, Weed is NOT legal in California (except for medical use with a prescription) and is ILLEGAL in most of the US.
1:56 PM, Weed is NOT "no big deal" in the US and is illegal in most of the US.
....................
I have to strongly disagree with glitzylady and agree with 11:37 PM. I also live in Washington and for glitzylady to say it is a non-issue here is not correct. Many cities in the state have banned the sale of pot. People are upset when a pot store is what they consider to be too close to a school.
I had to pass a drug test to get my job and they do random testing. I will be fired if I test positive for drug use, including pot.
Maybe glitzylady travels in a different social circle than I do because smoking pot is very much looked down upon on my social circle. Much of the state is very conservative.
I am concerned that Adam being so open about his pot use and doing things like posting pictures of people smoking joints or pictures of pot plants could be damaging to his career. It is far different from being pictured with a beer and you are in sever denial if you think pot is as generally accepted as alcohol in the US. This is even more important as Adam attracts a younger and worldwide audience. Pot use will be very negative in certain countries like Japan, Singapore as well as with parents in general.
@12:14 AM "But the bottom line is, it it's legal in your state, you can do it..".
Just one question to clear it up: Is it legal in CA? Joey Gray has had joint in his hand openly, Adam seems to find it "normal" (the IG-photos and mentions etc.)´, Markus Molinari advertises it quite openly IMO.
And I don't say alchol does not cause damage but somehow it has not been considered illegal. Any possession of weed is illegal where I live. If you have a bottle or all the bottles of the world on the table, the police won't bother if you don't harm anyone or drive when you have been drinking etc. but if you have pot/weed on the table, even a little amount (possession), you will get a charge (they may even arrest you if the amount is big). That is the differece.
12:23 PM here. glitzylady and I must have been writing posts at the same time but I stand by what I said. Pot use is not widely accepted just because it is legal in Washington.
It's not "technically considered an illegal drug" it is absolutely an illegal drug in a majority of the country.
Smoking pot is a big deal and not widely accepted.
@Anon 12:23 AM I said it was not a legal issue.. I didn't address attitudes or the pros and cons or individual city sublaws.. I'm well aware, trust me. I don't live in a bubble :)))
I know about the rest of the societal issues.. Including attitudes within the state.. I've lived in WA nearly all my life..
We could discuss this for days but my point was the legality of it.. nothing else...
12:31 AM, it is only legal in California for medical use. We have no way of knowing if Joey or Markus have medical use cards. I would guess most marijuana use is without a medical use card.
glitzylady, you said it's a non-issue and have down played it in every comment without addressing the public perception, making it appear as if it is easily accepted. You put a positive spin on it.
A lot of the "medical use" prescriptions are essentially jokes and easy to get, just a scam people run to try to not get arrested for smoking. That is a shame because some people do have a true medical need.
Don't know whether to laugh or cry when reading the comments in this thread.
Aren't these pics supposed to inspire people, his fans to talk about his music, the single, the upcoming vid, the whole album?
Most comments here are totally off topic and very little in them to give a hint that this place actually is an AL fan site. Clearly many here don't understand first thing about how to be a fan, what a fan culture means.
So many fantastic things happening to Adam professionally, but threads like this just bring you down and make it virtually impossible to continue to be happy...
@Anon 12:42 AM The original question posed was "Isn't it legalized in California?" by @Anon 1:20 PM..
I answered the question by listing the states that is IS legal in, (California is not one of them..other than for medical use..) and assumed that would end it.. It was the legality question that I was addressing when I said it is "pretty much a non-issue here". .. Not personal attitudes etc.. Sorry if I didn't make that clear..
Some threads are beyond repair.... but maybe it would be of help for future threads if all the Admins could post a few lines about the topic of the thread, sort of opening up the commenting and conversation, not just give a generic headline and a link.
Another kind wish for us all here. Although this site is US based and most regulars and visitors are from US, there are lots of people from all over the world reading, lurking, visiting and also commenting regularly. So please take that into consideration when you comment on and start detailed discussions (or disputes) about things like legislation, rules & regulations, politics, religion and other 'touchy subjects' where there are big differences culturally and otherwise.
Adam is clearly a multitalented person also when it comes to social intellect. That's why he charms people all over the world.
Is Adam's strange dream about a Ghost Town, coming from drinking tequila and smoking weed. We know he does both. Has this song, sprung from a true experience. I am quite sure that thousands of other people live this life style too, he is not alone, he has many friends who live the same way. The wonderful Joey, who many people seem to think is a good fit for Adam, why is that? Is it because they both enjoy tequila and smoke weed together.
@8:01 AM Adam might not get tired quickly because they both celebrate the same way and have the same friends. I bet they have a similar sense of humor. Both live in LA and NO broken english ;)
@8:25 AM You are so right! Joey is IMO perfect fit for Adam. Same interests and friends. Lived his life in US and knows American culture and etiquette. And what is most important: great sense of humor. Watch his IG-photos and vids. Maybe Adam really does not get bored with him so easily. He does not crap on his heart, I think.
I'm a realist. Adam and Sauli don't fit each other, although both are good men. I don't think Adam meant that Sauli crap on his heart. Sauli is still Adam's friend.

When his own pic has been photographed? Maybe when he fall in love with Bridger :) (Please, don't say that they didn't dating. Of course they did.)

I find it sad that he needs to promote drugs. Any kind.

One of the MANY things I admire about Adam is that he is VERY real, humble and has never tried to be anything but the human being (emphasis on human) that he is.
I'm a "Glambert" and proud to say that.
We're all imperfect but have our special qualities as well. I celebrate those things in my family, friends, and in Adam. To dwell on the negatives is sometimes to diminish the positives.
He isn't perfect but he's pretty darn awesome..
glitzylady, I agree with you, Adam is not asking for all this adoration.
@5:31 I agree with the sentiments of your post.
@ 5:31PM
But his music tells about his personal life: fall in love, be in love, gets tired of it, empty heart, quest for freedom, being high from weed, be cast down...
9:21 PM
Many songs have lyrics about those issues, not just Adam's songs.
@10:55PM
...but even Adam can't get both. He was forced to choose, and he chose freedom.
@10:55 PM
I totally agree! Adam is Adam.
But in this sense I admire more for instance guys like Neil Patric Harris and Lance Bass who seem to be guys who want to be in love and are able to be at the same time in commited relationship with their partners. They have been lucky that they have found so lovely partners.
@11:07 PM
That means that he can keep on dating people who crap his heart. But surely he will settle down some day and find a person who plants flowers (not weed plants,lol) to his heart. Freddie was 39 years old when he settled, if I remember right from the document I saw about him and Queen.
I meant "crap on his heart".
@11:31 PM Where I live only alcohol is legal and can be bought and used freely so that you are not punished if police gets you.
Weed/pot/kush/marijuana is illegal DRUG. The severity of the punishment depends on how much stuff (drug) police finds from you.
@11:41 PM
He has many other friends as close. Sutan, Danielle, Joey etc.
@11:49 PM
I don't know if you mean me (I've been here quite a lot) but I've enjoyed this thread too.
1:20 PM and 11:07 PM,
Weed is NOT legal in California (except for medical use with a prescription) and is ILLEGAL in most of the US.
1:56 PM,
Weed is NOT "no big deal" in the US and is illegal in most of the US.
....................
I'm amused by the attempt to make smoking weed no big deal because Adam does it.
@12:14 AM
"But the bottom line is, it it's legal in your state, you can do it..".
@Anon 12:23 AM
I said it was not a legal issue..
This is 12:31 AM
Thanks! I got the answer when I was typing my question. So, it is NOT legal in California (if not for medical reasons).
glitzylady, you said it's a non-issue and have down played it in every comment without addressing the public perception, making it appear as if it is easily accepted.
@Anon 12:42 AM
The original question posed was "Isn't it legalized in California?" by @Anon 1:20 PM..
In Europa kannabis is legal in many countries to your own use, but not in Scandinavia.
@8:01 AM
Adam might not get tired quickly because they both celebrate the same way and have the same friends. I bet they have a similar sense of humor. Both live in LA and NO broken english ;)
@8:25 AM
You are so right!
Racist people start to open their minds. I don't believe ever that Sauli has been bad to Adam.
I'm 8:01AM
I'm BIG Sauli-fan, I love him!!!
I'm a realist. Adam and Sauli don't fit each other, although both are good men. I don't think Adam meant that Sauli crap on his heart. Sauli is still Adam's friend.
How do you people exist in the real world - you are so gullible ?
