I've posted 2 parts of my Ghost Town story but not the ending, so I'll bring the complete story here as Adam and Stewie look so warm in the picture.

Ghost Town Part 1

A forlorn-looking man with unkempt hair falling over his forehead, blocking his eyes…came walking into Ghost Town. A lot had happened since a great flood swept through Bert’s hometown. When he left a couple of years ago, his Mom and Dad and dog Chewy were living in a small house down the road by the river.
Then one night, everything changed, the river overflowed its banks and huge tidal waves swept their house away. Bert survived the ordeal but had never heard from his parents again. He left Ghost Town and found a job as a singer on board a ship. Bert was one fine singer and made a tidy sum from his stint.
Now after two years Bert was back and went in search of his parents, after looking for them everywhere, in vain. The whole neighbourhood seemed dilapidated; an occasional old man or woman walked across the run-down broken pavements.
All of a sudden, Bert heard a whimper and he looked around. He followed the whimper and came to a half-broken-down stone house. Bert walked in and to his surprise, he heard something moving in a corner, seemed trapped and unable to get out of a narrow drainage tunnel. Bert peered in…a dog whimpered and not only that, it wagged its tail. Wow! Bert couldn’t believe what he found; it was Chewy his dog! Bert crawled into the tunnel and removed the debris that was blocking Chewy which frantically rushed into Bert’s extended arm. Slowly, he was able to pull Chewy out. Bert felt a surge of love from Chewy and he carried the little dog, a chihuahua in his arms to get him some food and clean him up. By the way, he was named Chewy because he loved to chew Bert’s shoe-laces and because of that Bert always had to keep a box of shoe-laces as replacements whenever the old ones were chewed to bits. lwl! Chewy was lucky to have survived perhaps eating whatever scraps it could get, maybe even cockroaches!
Well, unfortunately, Bert still could not locate his parents…at least he got Chewy to remember them by because they often took Chewy for evening walks before their homestead became Ghost Town.

Ghost Town Part 2

Bert held Chewy, his lost and found chihuahua close to him as if Chewy had given him a new lease of life. Chewy on the other hand, in a state of confusion, kept licking Bert desperately making sure Bert was there.
Finally, Bert found a small shop, the only one still operating, using florescent lamps for lighting. The shop-owner a nice burly farmer offered meals to Bert and Chewy; and Bert was able to give Chewy a thorough washing; no running tap water just stored water from a truck that got replenished irregularly. Bert thanked the kind farmer, bade him goodbye and went on his way in search of his parents. Chewy, being extremely exhausted after its ordeal, fell asleep as Bert carried it in his haversack.
Bert walked by the river which seemed quite low in water and fish unlike before when he and Chewy would take occasional dips in it. He sat by the bank and looked across the river where his house once stood. He could barely recognise his bearings…everything seemed to look the same, tall unkempt grass and broken-down, crooked houses with parts of their roofs dangling precariously.
Then a ray of hope lifted his spirits…a wisp of smoke seemed to be streaming out of the piles of rubble. Bert quickly got up and ran across the river-bank to the other side.
When he got nearer, he smelt something cooking like broth. Wow! his heart was pounding…and he instinctively shouted: Mom! Dad! Are you there… No sound was heard from that place. Bert was not going to give up now after searching for them for two years. And then, a familiar figure emerged from behind a run-down dilapidated hut. An elderly man was hobbling to the stove which was cooking the broth, using wood as fuel. Bert ran towards him; Chewy got woken from its snug sleep when Bert’s haversack almost slipped from his shoulder. Chewy gave a small scared whimper.
When Bert reached the hut, he peeked in as there wasn’t even a door. A bent elderly man was ladling his pot of broth. He turned around and looked up with frail blue eyes. Bert’s heart sank… it wasn’t his Dad nor was there anyone else in the hut. In a husky tone, the man asked with a welcoming smile…Hellooo who are you? Bert smiled and introduced himself…Chewy was wide awake by now, peeping out of the haversack and was introduced as well. The elderly man smiled serenely and offered Bert some bean and onion broth. Bert declined politely as he had just been given a full meal at the farmer’s shop.
In the course of their brief conversation, the soft-spoken man said people called him Uncle Joe. Then he related the stormy night when tidal waves came unexpectedly and swept away many houses and flooded the town. Bert knew exactly what had happened as he went through that ordeal himself.
At that moment…Bert heard something that perked him up. Uncle Joe said that a very nice couple named Lilian and Mike got swept downstream out to sea but they were later picked up by a passing trawler which found them floating on a large plank hanging onto each other for dear life.
Bert was all ears and immediately asked where Lilian and Mike were now. He revealed to Uncle Joe those were his parents’ names and he had been looking for them high and low. Uncle Joe looked shocked and shook his head; he said he had never known them just heard about this terrible incident. But he gave Bert a glimmer of hope. Uncle Joe said he saw a couple on a nearby hill trying to build a simple shack just like his, quite some time ago. Due to his failing health, he seldom ventured out and never heard much about anything in Ghost Town.
Bert was full of hope…now that he got wind his parents were most likely alive. Bert was so grateful to Uncle Joe for the best news he ever had; he looked down at Chewy and whispered: Mom and Dad are okay! Chewy looked back with its mournful eyes, whimpered, as if it knew what Bert was saying. Perhaps it did or sensed his elation. Bert bade Uncle Joe farewell and thanked him again profusely.

Ghost Town Part 3

Bert was sitting by the river bank, with Chewy in his haversack. It had been two years searching for his parents but to no avail. And then lo and behold, Eureka! a flash of brain-wave hit him. He looked at Chewy with a brilliant smile. Hey Chewy…I know how to locate Mom and Dad! Chewy whimpered…I think Chewy recognised the sounds ‘Mom and Dad’ which Bert often articulated.
Bert subsequently left Ghost Town and went downtown. There he beelined into an electronics shop. Yes, you might have guessed…Bert was going to set up an internet radio station in Ghost Town so that he could connect with the 100 people still living there. First step was to get the internet wires into his hometown, and with a powerful antenna, he would broadcast to the folks and hopefully, his parents would be found.
Bert was a very determined worker…his radio station was up and running within a month. Bert had some background knowledge on its operation as he often doubled up as a broadcaster while working as a singer in his two-year stint on a ship. And so it came to pass…he set up an internet radio station on the land his house once stood.
One morning, the Ghost Town folks heard someone singing…they looked into the sky because it seemed to come from the surrounding atmosphere…
‘Just don’t give up, I am workin’ it out
Please don’t give in, I won’t let you down
Hey, whataya want from me?
Whataya want from me?
Whataya want from me?…’
Soon word got round that it was Bert singing; some knew him well as it was a close-knit community before it was destroyed.
Months passed…once again Bert felt he might never find his beloved parents again. He was dozing off after his daily broadcasting to the Ghost Town folks.
At that moment…a hand touched his shoulder; Bert was still sleeping and then the hand shook him harder and Bert got up with a start! Looking down at him…a pair of loving blue eyes. He rubbed his own eyes and thought he might be hallucinating. He whispered disbelievingly: Dad! Dad! Then another hand touched his other shoulder…a pair of oh so familiar motherly eyes smiling down at him with tears flowing down her face. Mom! Mom! Bert got up in huge excitement and hugged both his parents, Lilian and Mike. It was such a touching moment…Bert couldn’t hold back his tears anymore. Chewy too became so emotional, it stood on its hind legs and turned round and round…Chewy always did that when it was ecstatic.

Speaking of photo shoot, has anyone living on the west coast that ordered the Attitude Magazine received it yet?

I had no idea Adam was going to pose with a dog in his photo shoot; Mmm someone might have been inspired by Chihuahua Chewy. lwl! But Stewie is a Bichon. Adam looks so sincere in this picture. Now Adam liked an IG of another dog, looks a little like a Chihuahua. lwl!

Hellooo Kindred!
You are the ray of sunshine and the gleam of hope for me. I had several dogs as a child and as adult; so I feel for dogs, they are all-giving, never demanding. But in my story, it was not purposely included, it just popped into the story and lent itself to it. Actually, when I write these little stories, I have no idea how it will start, where it goes and most of all how it all ends. I think you once instinctively pointed out that my stories seem to be able to carry on with no real ending. lol! Life is like that.
Thank you again Kindred! You are such a kind person.
