Another San Diego radio station interview from Tuesday from Energy 103.7 (again, unfortunately, CBS radio network websites' embed codes don't seem to work properly on Blogger, so here is the link):

(Update:)  We want to make sure you're aware that this a fantastic interview because the DJ, "AJ," really gets into the nuts & bolts of the music -- lots of great details about the record-making process -- so you definitely should listen to this one all the way through!

AND!...during the interview Adam says that if you've pre-ordered the album:

"...you're gonna get to hear a couple more songs before the album comes out."
_______________

Note: We have also just added a video link to our post on Adam's interview with Fernando & Greg on San Francisco's 99.7 [NOW!]:

OT but looks like Jax on AI has been paying attention to Adam's moves on stage during her perfomance of My Generation by The Who - she was all over the stage and had a great outfit.

I was asked to share this. I think it is important.

How to help and support Adam Lambert the simple edition

The most important thing you can do to help and support Adam is stop showing up to radio events if you are old enough to be someone's grandmother!!

This has been said MANY MANY MANY times but the same ladies keep ignoring this advice. WHY? Do they care so little about Adam that they ignore what is obvious to anyone with a brain?

Radio, especially TOP 40 radio, is geared towards people UNDER 35. That means it's not even geared towards ME because I am 46. I am OKAY with that and will gladly pass on trying to win tickets to a radio event. I love Adam and want to meet him. I love Top 40 radio and listen all the time. So why would I not even try for passes? BECAUSE I AM TOO FUCKING OLD FOR TOP 40 RADIO TO WANT ME THERE! That is not ageist, that is just reality.

and I don't care how many times Adam says he loves all his Glamberts he doesn't want me there either (even though I don't look remotely my age *thanks sunscreen and clean living*). He would be polite and he would be gracious but inside he'd wish that I had given my ticket to my 20 year old daughter and let her bring one of her friends. WHY? because perception is reality and all these ladies who are old enough to be Adam's mother or worse GRANDMOTHER who keep showing up to these events are giving radio the perception that his fanbase is made up almost exclusively of older women. That is NOT the demographic that ANY pop star wants to dominate their fanbase.

But 6 years in and the same women are doing the same thing. They either don't get it or they just don't give a shit. I hope it is ignorance and not selfishness because ignorance can be overcome but selfishness is bone deep.

Adam is potentially on the cusp of getting everything he's wanted since he burst onto the scene 6 years ago. That won't happen if radio turns away from him AGAIN and having a flock of older women panting after him openly and in front of radio will surely do that.

Long story short, if you were born before 1979-1980 stay the away from radio stations. For Adam and for the rest of the fandom who would like to see him succeed. You aren't helping, in fact you are hurting him, regardless of whether you see or acknowledge it, so please just listen to people when they ask you to step back a little.

Shosh did ask fans to only go to the radio meet and greets if you were age appropriate for that station.

Radio wants a certain demographic and wants singers that will attract that demographic.

This is about Adam's success, not our getting to see Adam.

Chose another time to see Adam.

if they want to promo adam as a new artist they need to do more promo events like new artists such as festivals, radio events at college campuses or even the play to win post your selfie in the above comments.

adam has $$$ he's not a struggling artist he can do college shows & festivals to get the younger fans. stop talking about it and do something proactive to get new younger fans.

doing radio interviews and telling old glams via some third party twitter mess is not a business plan to generate new fans.

Adam doesn't want to do the hard work for little money that it takes to build a fanbase. he could have toured after trespassing. I don't think for one minute he will tour with this album either.

Dee R Gee said...

Well, this thread turned into a lot of fun.

Anonymous said...

Festivals would be great. I'd love to see him do that this summer before doing a solo tour early 2016.

Would selfie contests work?

Anonymous said...

choons, what? She did that same run around the judges last week. I don't know what would make you think Adam was her inspiration for any moves or her outfit.

Jadam NZ said...

Anon at 6.25pm this is harsh but true, probably needed to be said. I am "old" but have to agree.
Unfortunately I think there is a alot of these fans that are repeat offenders.
Imsure Adam enjoys us all as his fans, and appreciates us, but leave the age appropriate ventures to the young.
I hope I would have more self respect than to carry on like that anyway.

Anonymous said...

Jadam NZ, well said.

There are many ways to support Adam and many opportunities to see and meet Adam. Let's not throw any roadblocks in Adam's way this era. That way we will get a tour and more eras. Next era we can have at the radio shows.

Anonymous said...

Oh please do you think TPTB don't know the age of an artist fan base and a few under 35's showing up at the radio station is really going to fool them!! Lol

Jadam NZ said...

Anon 9.38pm. the thing is, a good percentage of Adams fans ARE young. It is the older ones that can fly all over the place and turn up every where. They have got a high profile from these activities and have askewed the percentages.
You sound so bitter, love, smile.

"a good percentage of Adams fans ARE young" is true for EU and Asia but NOT the US. Older fans were the majority at his GNT shows, Glamily Reunion, Casinos, radio shows and all events his US fans were Older.

Why do we see so many younger fans waiting to see him in EU and Asia but you only see older fans standing outside in the US?

Adam hasn't done college shows, or festivals to PROMOTE his NEW MUSIC to attract NEW YOUNGER FANS.

Ed Sheeran, Sam Smith and other artists perform at festivals and Gaga performed at SXSW last year but not Adam. No festivals and No college performances or radio station sponsored shows on college campuses.

Ed Sheeran just perform at University of Central Florida for 300 students who won tix and UCF's music department received a $10,000 grant.

Telling older fans who have supported him for the beginning they are now too old is crazy. He needs all the fan support he can get.

He needs to perform at events such as above to give younger fans an opportunity to hear his new music in their setting. That's what new artist do to get their music out there.

Anonymous said...

10:48 PM, nobody is telling them they are too old to be a fan, just that they will hinder rather than help Adam by going to radio shows.

They are still welcomed as fans and there are many other ways to support Adam other than winning tickets for a radio show.

Anonymous said...

Please share May 6, 2015 at 10:48 PM

Please pass my comment along to Lambert411, Shosh or anyone else. If other mainstream Top Ten artists are performing at festivals and college campuses why not Adam to promo his new music to their desired age group of under 35.

We should be enjoying this not ranting and raging telling fans you too old to be seen.

Anonymous said...

at 11:02 PM-You didn't answer my questions:

why isn't Adam and his team doing more to promo his new music to attract new younger fans where the younger fans can hear his new music?

why are we seeing younger fans outside of venues, events, radio for Adam in UK, EU and Asia but not the US?

If Gaga can perform at SXSW festival and other pop artists why can't Adam?

What is Adam and his team doing to gain the attention of younger fans?

It takes more than radio interviews talking about your new music or posting music video,

I attend festivals and my college had BB Top Ten artists performing on campus. Radio sponsored some of them but some were for big events like homecoming or March Madness.

It's unfair to blame 10 repeat offenders for Adam not being able to attract younger fans when he and his team are not setting up shows such as festivals or college campuses to promo his new music. Music fans go to festivals and I was introduced to a lot bands I never would have took the time to listen to but they were playing on campus.

ADAM, his team and Lambert411 CAN DO MORE than complain about 5 older fans being in pics at a radio station.

Anonymous said...

I am an older Glambert who lives on the other side of the world so I don't even have a chance to attend Adam's radio interviews. However, if I lived in the US, I would perhaps hope to attend one radio interview where I lived (if there was one) but that would be it. I'd not stalk Adam all over the country attending his radio interviews. That kind of behavior seems fanatical and doesn't give others the opportunity to do so. And I definitely think Adam needs younger people at these events but I guess many of them are working so don't have that opportunity. College campuses and festivals would be great if it's possible for Adam to do them.

Anonymous said...

11:33 PM, this is not saying Adam can't attract younger fans or about how he should attract younger fans. This is about the appearance that is given to the radio people. It is about radio demographics. You are blowing a simple thing into something else.

Getting radio play on Top 40 will also get Adam MORE younger fans.

Shosh asked us to be demo appropriate for radio M & Gs, that's good enough direction for me.

Unlike you I am not going to backseat drive Adam's career and second guess what Adam and his team should be doing.

You went from 10 to 5 repeat offenders, LOL. It is way more than 10 that have done this so far and if the radio shows continue that number will only go up.

Anonymous said...

This is a joke, if the older fans stay away, Adam won't have many fans showing up to these radio promos. It is what it is Adam has always had a diverse age group regarding his fans. It never stopped radio from playing his songs from his first album FYE which received a lot of airplay. I believe the reason TP didn't do so well had nothing to do with older fans but the fact that the album was written to sound almost like a Gay National Anthem, too controversial for radio, they didn't want to take a risk playing it. I just hope they will listen to all the singles and give this new album fair play time.

I also think Shosh needs to be careful as I think a lot of older fans will find her comments highly offensive, is she continues with these comments Adam stands to lose many fans.

Anonymous said...

Sorry Dee R Gee that you think this thread tanked, but I totally agree with May 6 6:25. Didn't want to say it myself, I am a coward I guess, it needs to be said.

Good idea about the college circuit!

Anonymous said...

@4:31 #1, at this point, Shosh & team probably feel there's little to lose and she might as well make her sensitive comments; imo it is really a problem about the M&G's... if GT doesn't get radio play - Houston we have a problem. I have been spewing my utter optimism on this site for weeks, but this is a problem imo, I agree with 6:25 and others. Business is business, being butthurt has no place. But people will do what they will do, and my optimism is a little M.I.A. this morning, I must admit.

Adam would not want people to feel left out. You sound as if your out to cause trouble, pretending to be concerned for Adam's career while trying to upset people, You are not a true fan more like a troll, I suggest you go and take a hike, stir up trouble some where else.

glitzylady said...

I think it should be made clear here that the stations Adam has been promo'ing at are considered/officially labeled "Hot Adult Contemporary" stations... And the target age demographic is generally considered to be (depending on the exact focus of the station) 18-54... Many of the radio "adds" for Ghost Town have been in that radio genre..

It appears that a good many/nearly all of the fans who are attending these meet & greets fall well within the stations' desired demographic..

When Shosh was saying fans should be mindful of the demographic of the various stations, and she's absolutely right in requesting that in order to maximize Adam's music's appeal to the stations, in this particular case we aren't necessarily talking KISS Top 40-type stations, that are more specifically focused on the 18-34 age group..

I ABSOLUTELY GET what she's saying..I understand radio demographics.. But let's perhaps stop to think for just a moment before we throw those slings and arrows..

I also agree that as fans who have had the opportunity to "properly" meet Adam previously (myself included), it would be awesome to give others who have not met him to have that chance..

Some ugly things being said out there in the fandom right now..

Hoping we can get back to enjoying these radio interviews with Adam, because that's really what this time is all about: Adam promoting his new album..

I totally "get" that we want Adam to have new fans, and get those much alluded to younger fans which is important for the Top 40 radio play.. I also know that he does have young fans.. I've been to more than a few events over the past 6 years and the audience includes all age groups..

Dee R Gee said...

Ok, I think that all the comments here have truth in them.
Would I rather see younger fans show up at the radio stations? Yes. Is the fact that older fans show up most of the time important and rather telling? Yes. WE CORE FANS CLONE OURSELVES FOR EVERY CAUSE RELATED TO ADAM. We multiple vote, multiple buy, multiple view, multiple Spotify multiple stream and Shazam. Sure, we get those numbers up, but when it comes to that final tally of sales, we can't sustain it. That's what happened with TP. It was #1 but didn't sell enough to sustain a tour. I think Adam's fanbase has grown since then, due to Queen and other things. All that may help TOH, at least overseas. The U.S. strategy needs some new, creative ideas.

As I said, all the comments here have truth in them, regardless of their tone or intent. Bottom line, yes, Adam has fans of all ages. But his most visible fans are the older ones, plain and simple. Festivals and college gigs might help. Big name acts do these types of shows (with the exception of those at the very very top.) I'd like to see an effort by his management to get him more of those kinds of gigs. College age kids have broad tastes and he needs to reach them.

And yes, it does appear that the UK and Asia fan bases have a younger demographic. I have used the phrase "cool to like," a number of times. Adam has to become cool to like among all demos. It's cool to like SS or Jason DeR. It's cool to like Gaga or Ed S. or Katy P., etc. No one hesitates to tell anyone they like them. Is that true of Adam? Yes, Adam is amazingly talented, with great looks and a personality more engaging than most celebrities. And yet there is baggage. He is not just middle-of-the-road generic, easy to like in a benign way, like so many others are. He's very different. It's been said many times that he is a marketer's worst nightmare. Teen appeal? Kind of, but not in a mainstream way. Twenty-and-thirty somethings? Not bad, but that demo doesn't number in the millions for him. Older women adore him not only as an amazing talent, but also as that sweet, cute, funny, smart son, nephew, grandson, brother, or just plain fantasy. Makes them feel young, too.

He's overtly sexual even when he's not trying to be. He can't help it. Even when he's toning it down, he's emanating a major sensual aura. It's just who he is. He's too different for some, too gay for others, too "American Idol" for some, etc. Let's face it, the vast majority of music buyers prefer safe, acceptable, predictable singers. They want to like who everyone else likes. It's easier. You don't have to be careful who you tell you like Maroon 5, because it's ok to like them. It's fine. Mentioning Adam sometimes results in an eyeroll or even something more negative. It's true.

All of WBR's strategies and all of the suggestions mentioned on this thread may help TOH. The radio play and media feedback seem much stronger this time around. The U.S. is still his weakest market, IMO. Apparently, a great voice, fabulous looks and a smart, intelligence, entertaining personality isn't enough.

Anonymous said...

Adams fanbase is much, much smaller than it was during trespassing. Don't kid yourself. Queen did absolutely nothing for him in the United states, altho he became more known in the UK. Those fans are not likely to be interested in this pop album. It's the same for all the idols except the successful ones like kelly and carrie.

He sold less than 20k of his new single. That's about how many people like his instagrams as well. That is his fanbase.

Dee R Gee said...

glitylady, Looks like you were writing your post as I was struggling to finish mine. Thanks for your balanced, reasonable approach to all this. I really went on a rant with my long post. You brought it back into perspective. Frankly, I think Adam expects older fans at his M&Gs. That's the way it's been for a long time. He handles everyone well. It would be nice to be a mix of ages, but it doesn't happen all the time.

Thanks for making the point that this radio station does have the Adult Contemporary demo. So you wouldn't expect it to be a teen-heavy listener base anyway.

All I want its a breakthrough album for Adam, an album that will gain him followers who will hear his beautiful voice.

Who knows if a younger fan would win a contest... maybe they would!!! if they weren't continually boxed out by repeat offenders entering. Maybe not, sure maybe not, but who knows, it's like there isn't an opportunity to find out because of repeat offenders.

Listen folks, I am not a troll. I am a long time fan and user of this site. I am a good person. I am a reasonable person. I know the sensitivity of this situation. From reading this site a very long time, I would venture to guess that a lot of readers here are well versed in putting others first - can't we, just for a short time even, put Adam's career ahead of our own wants? You know what @May 6, 2015 at 6:41 PM - I wouldn't have a problem with that personally. Sure glitzylady a lot of these stations are HAC, but we are fooling ourselves if we think Kiss like stations & top 40 aren't taking notice, imho we are not looking the beast in the eye here. If I could wave a magic wand, I would simply ask for some of Adams fans to just maybe take a wait and see approach for a few weeks or a month.., see what happens if we allow new fans to win contests (at radio stations especially), see who shows up for limited seated opportunities or the like (not something like Ellen) if they present themselves soon...
You may all take me to task if you wish, tear my post apart, tear me apart, I'm open to it, and maybe I'll learn something and see things differently... but as it stands right now, I don't think it's too much to ask fans to maybe take a lay low and wait&see approach for a few weeks or so. Although it is only an opinion, I feel so strongly that if GT gets continued Top 40 adds, and gets some spins, and reaches some listeners, Adam's fanbase will explode and widen. I truly believe that. Maybe if we give Adam a little time to broaden his fanbase in the US, his position in the HAC & Top 40 will be less tentative and we can revisit this very sensitive issue. But we are fooling ourselves, imo, if we think radio stations are not paying very very close attention to what is going on this week. I am not the Anon@May 6 at 6:25PM, but I disagree with almost nothing he/she posted, and find not one word to be troll-like. I lurk, have never signed up for, but lurk at another Adam fansite, and I would say the same to them, because they need to hear it imo. Just my POV, I know it's hurtful, I feel badly, take to me task, but business is business... and maybe I am being selfish too, because I want GT to chart high, I want another few singles to be released, I want a tour to happen, I want TOH to sell well as an album... but imo excellent radio play for GT is absolutely not an option, it is a necessity, for any of that to happen, so that's ultimately why I take this position.

@ 4:31 AM I'll disagree with you. This picking out one aspect of Adam's life and telling him how it should be run is ludicrous. You all have NO idea what is involved and neither do I. The difference is I think Adam can only work with what's available to him and he's the only one that knows the options.

glitzylady said...

@Anon 8:02 PM
My comments about the HAC stations were very specific towards those station's demographics.. and I specifically addressed that issue. So many nasty things are being said about "older" fans and "repeat offenders"..

Shosh's comments/request was for fans to be mindful of the host station's demographics.. That is what I touched on..

If we're talking Top 40/KISS stations, we CERTAINLY need to be mindful of that desired age demographic, obviously.. because in reality, in the past they have generally been reluctant to play Adam's music, to be honest.. He's had more success in the HAC market.. You have to have radio play to get on the Top 40 stations... HAC counts as radio play and it's exposure for him..

Radio promo is important but so are many other things: social media, radio spins, Spotify plays, Shazam, etc.. etc.. and of course sales..

I also completely agree that we who have met Adam would be very well advised to step back and give others a chance to meet this gorgeous, sweet, talented man..

I'm not a teen and most of my close "Adam friends" aren't either.. We've ALL agreed that it's important to give Adam a chance to experience new fans, and hopefully some younger fans, here in the US.. I have no argument there.. At all...

Let's not lose sight of the fact that Adam has always had a wide range of fans.. Perhaps that's the way it will always be..

And again, I GET the concept of radio demographics..and how radio works.. and what they look for..

I think you and I are on the same page in reality.. We both want the best for Adam and for him to get that elusive Top 40 radio play... Whatever it takes for that to happen..

I've seen pictures of the few meet and greets that have occurred so far.. There are younger fans ie under 35..and probably 25... in the mix.. And to be perfectly honest, it may be that the "young" fans ie teens and 20 somethings are not aware of the HAC station promos.. Or they're in school, busy with jobs, etc. and they simply can't participate.. (I work, have a busy life, and I've never had the opportunity to really try to win a meet and greet.. I was invited to one via a friend to whom I'm eternally grateful.) Teens don't generally listen to that particular type of station.. And in fact often do not listen to radio.. Period.. Let's be realistic here: It wouldn't be cool for Adam to have radio promo with NO fans in the audience.. NO fans for meet and greets.. What would that say to radio?? I'm playing the devil's advocate here but something to think about..

Let's see how this all plays out as Adam does more promo.. He's just started, done a very few radio promo's and that's it.. Just the beginning of promo for Era 3.. fingers crossed!

@6:25PM & @7:20AM & Liked minded!

You may as well take Idol and Adam off of your tongue. May as well stop trying to throw him back in that bag. As Adam has said; he is grateful to Idol for giving him that great platform that he so badly needed. But, "DON'T YOU KID YOURSELF", Adam had the potentials of being a star with or without Idol! Idol has been helpful throughout these past 6 years in many ways. Mainly because every organization that Adam is affiliated with, record companies, Idol, etc.; gains him nothing but respect for his extraordinary talents as one of the most up and coming young men in the musical industry! It may have taken Adam a bit longer, because of certain life circumstances; but, make no mistake, this fan base that helped Adam get through that hard climb to make it to number two on Idol in numbers (we all know he was number one in talent) is still with him; and working just as hard as ever.

Adam does not care about what age supports him; he loves his fans of all ages and colors and genders; and has said so many, many times! He is very aware of who brought him to the dance!

Adam has a wonderful fan base; and he is picking up more fans daily. I know that many people are jealous because Adam has fans of all ages; and not just teeny boppers. Try as they may; they cannot discourage his fan base. As you can see people are very devoted to this fine outstanding young man with such outstanding talents. His long time fans are not going anywhere but up to the big time with him!

Adam's association with Queen has been great for him all over the world including the United States! False remarks does not make that fact untrue. All progress does not come in some number that you can easily count. No, it comes in the hearts and minds of everyone that Adam comes In contact with!

By the way Adam, is not on Idol anymore; he did not win, remember, so he does not carry that title around like Carrie & Kelly; Chris won in Adam's year, so that is who you should be talking about and comparing with those other two winners!

Adam is a worldwide super star; and is now being played on the radio along with other main stream artists. Time to let go, Adam is no longer on Idol; his season was over six years ago.

I also take issue with you about this upcoming Album. I think this is the one that will finally establish Adam Lambert as the true super star that we first saw him on our television screens! So it would be wise to take your gloom and doom about Adam's future, and free your mind; don't be so shallow; be gender blind; and the rest will follow!!

Omg so much nonsense.

Food for thought:

There is enough of Adam to go around! People, stop fighting over him! He is a man of peace and love. Adam has documented fans from 1 to 101! Deal with it!

Adam is also an independent solo artist with Warner Music only!!

Adam said in a recent interview that he doesn't watch the singing shows anymore. He doesn't follow them. He got a lot from Idol and gave back, too. Being a judge was probably a good way to make a break. If he's on again in some way, fine. I'll watch for sure. But the show is waning, and Adam has to move on. He's grateful.

I think glitzylady is wrong about the age range of HAC. It isn't as high as 54 yrs old. Soft AC may be what glitzylady is thinking of.

Typically Top 40 stations target ages 18 - 34 and HAC, hot adult contemporary, targets ages 25 - 44.

Regardless, we know the fans being referred to have seen Adam before and are over 54.

My mom is 45 years old; when she had my friends and I listen to Ghost Town; I humored her and said OK; since she loves Adam, I always respect her taste; but I am in to rock! Well saw the video and immediately stared dancing and all of us; 3 guy and 4 girls, ordered on ITunes and preordered his Album! My mom was beaming with pride, and grinning from ear to ear. 5 of the people had heard of Adam, but never bought any of his music!

I thought I would post here; because my mom has always been a Glambert; I am now a fan; but, I like other artists too. Not my mom, just Adam, but, that is ok.
As a younger person, I mean no disrespect, but I think that age discrimation is not OK, you should see my grandma she is an Adam fan too, as she always says! Just Dance!
Off to class!

This idea of what would happen if nobody showed up at a radio show so repeat older fans better do it is a straw man argument. That is not going to happen. I'd dare these fans to sit back for one radio show to prove it will still be full of younger fans but they can't look past their own self-importance to do that.

Anonymous said...

So if you are over 35 to 44 years old please sit this round of radio meet and greets out. There are plenty of other ways to support Adam. If Adam can hit big with this we will get a tour and an era 4. In era 4 you can go back to battling the under 35 for tickets to radio meet and greets.

This is about Adam, not about us.

Throw statics out the window and buy, buy, and gift! Stop the analyzing and just enjoy! My goodness all this age discussion is becoming real tired, real soon.

Not going to make a bit of difference out there in the real world. Not by a handful of fans anyway. Adam is out there getting more fans and the experts on the blog is trying to figure all of this out. Trust in his Management Team, Trust in his Label; but, most of all; trust in Adam, his wonderful talents in winning over the world, young and middle aged, and older fans one by one; and that is the way it should be. Why try to deny anyone the thrill of following and enjoying and being a fan of the most talented, most beautiful entertainer in the universe. Just enjoy; and let everyone else do the same!!!

9:30 AM, because radio wants a certain demographic and DJs have noticed and commented on the age of some of Adam's very visible fans. It does make a difference. If we want to help Adam have a radio hit this time we need to be aware of the perception and demographics.

Additionally, Shosh gas explicitly asked us to be aware if radio demographics.

This is so silly, I can't believe what I am reading. First of all some people I their thirties look as young a some in their twenties.

Since some people don't think that Adam does not have younger fans. What if not a lot of young entered the contest, then what? It would look as if Adam had no fans of interest! The record stations would stop inviting him if there is no interest! Catch 22!

I say let the Management run the Adam Lambert public relations and tell fans what best would work in supporting Adam as far as the fandom is concerned; after all, they are the ones getting paid to do so.

Adam is known for his great fan support. So fans, young and old, don't pay any attention to all of these publicist want to be people.
Keep doing what you are doing, as Adam has said many times to his beloved fans. If you have a chance to see Adam, see him as many times as you can, support him to the hilt; and don't let anyone deter you!!

Everyone sounds so desperate, some of the ideas on this thread sound as if people are clutching at straws coming up with last minute ideas to save Adam's career. This is just a whole lot of speculation from people with very little knowledge of the music industry. Only Adam and his management have the skill and experience to know how to win over the radio stations, marketing Adam's album should be left to the professionals and I agree with 9:30 AM, the best that fans can do is support Adam by buying and gifting as much as they possibly can.

No need to shed false tears. Rumor has it that his management was approached for this week; but to busy promoting TOH; not sure about the last show! Would be what his management feels would be best and if he can squeeze it in. Schedule pretty full. Back with Queen again in September for South America. Cd signing at Barnes and Nobel in New York in June around the time of TOH RELEASE in June.

In the interim, they will probably try to get him on as many television and radio shows as part of roll out, as all artists try and do with new album drops! Hope we will see him everywhere! That would make us happy as fans, right??????

I got the 18 - 54 age reference directly off of an HAC website.. I also listen to (and love) an HAC station in Seattle.. I like it because it plays lots of great new music mixed in with some that is not entirely new but slightly older, but still current, hits.. some alternative music, etc.. And they don't repeat the same songs every half hour.. It's the first station that played "Ghost Town" in the US.. And they continue to play it.. Of COURSE I'm going to support it.. My local KISS station has yet to play it here at least to my knowledge.

I also qualified the "depends on the focus" (of the HAC station) comment (which would narrow it down depending on what the station plays.. including the slightly wider range of Adult Contemporary)..

It's really a shame that it's gotten down to this..

We can argue this subject forever.. but real focus should be Adam's new music..

One more thing to consider: Radio station meet and greets are free as a general rule.. Concert/event meet and greets usually come at a price, sometimes high.. and sometimes out of the financial grasp of some fans, including the younger..and older fans.. I have an "older" friend, a huge and very very supportive Adam Lambert fan, who has so far not been able to access a meet and greet, as much as she's wished for one.. And her means are limited.. She now feels that in addition to perhaps not ever being able to afford the extra cost of a concert meet and greet, she is no longer welcome as a fan and will be subject to criticism at the very least.. She also "gets" it that Adam needs the younger demographic.. but it is still a very sad subject for her.. A radio promo M&G would have been an answer to her prayers over the past 6 years.. Now that's essentially out of the question.. She is one of the most unselfish people I know, would never wish to hurt Adam's chances for radio play etc.. but feels left out as of now..

Just throwing that out there..

glitzylady said...

I also might remind you that Adam might perhaps be asked to skip his own meet and greets if we are to abide by some of the "rules" proposed here..

I realize that's a silly statement but think about it...

Anonymous said...

For those saying leave it to Adam and his management who know how to handle the radio stations, Shosh asked us to keep in mind radio demographics.

It is as simple as that. Fans of a certain age shouldn't be at these radio shows.

To still go shows you think you are superior and shows your self centeredness.

Anonymous said...

glitzy, Adam fits the demo for both Top 40 and HAC. I am wondering whose side you are on here.

Just because you listen to a HAC station doesn't mean you fit their demo or are entitled to a M&G with Adam despite what his publicist has asked.

I'm seeing a lot of sensitive sally sour raisins here.

This is a very small thing that has been asked of us and I am willing to do it to support Adam.

If this album doesn't make it there will be no more radio M&Gs in the future for anybody. Think long term, people. Glitzy's friend will get another chance to meet Adam in the future if this song is a success. This is only her last chance if we screw it up for Adam.

Anonymous said...

Please, let's make this about Adam, not about what we want.

glitzylady said...

Don't twist my words.. I'm on Adam's side always..

Read the rest of my comments..

I was only half joking about Adam almost not fitting the profile for meet and greets.. But by some people's interpretations of Shosh's statements, he's right on the edge..

I won't be going to any meet and greets.. I've had my turn and to be honest, there is no way I'd even attempt it right now in this hostile environment if I hadn't already had a chance..

We know that Shosh asked fans to fit the radio demographic for the particular station.. That's somewhat open to interpretation...

I'm just lamenting the situation for my friend as an example. No way in hell is she going to even attempt it..She wants only the best for Adam. As do I.. But I feel bad for her. That's it.. I've been fortunate.. And am very grateful.

So....I went on a trip last week and got back Monday late at night. I was basically out of the loop for a while. Once back, I found out instantly about all these radio events here in SF and immersed myself at getting the chance to finally meet Adam. I had one day and didn't even think twice as the opportunity is out there for everybody. It happened(!) and I met Adam yesterday due to pure luck and a bit of Glambert love. I couldn't have been happier. Now that I'm logging back onto some of the fan sites I experience more doom and gloom than anything, and I'm confused. Really?? Do people really think that 15-20 fans at a M&G determine Adam's career?? It sure takes more than that. I saw a good number of empty seats that could have been filled by a few more of the young and hip and super cool crowd that we are craving for Adam, but if that's the expectation his promo department has to become more creative. A noon time event mid week sure isn't enough to accommodate that demographic. Making highly dedicated fans feel completely bad about themselves can't be a good path. Common sense for sure is, as with all things in life. I'm glad that I got the M&G off my bucket list and I have no regrets even though I am 50 years old. I do listen to all sorts of music, even the one that my kids listen to on Spotify. They actually do fit the Top40 demographic perfectly but couldn't care less about radio. Thoughts about that? I happen to love Ghost Town. Favorite single released to date for me. It's cool.

"HOLY, HOLY, HOLY", there you have it, Adam's words from a Queen concert!

Hi Gabi!!!

I was listening to @Lambertlust's video (on another thread here on 24/7) of the VIP interview and heard the name "Gabi" and thought of you!!! Congrats on your opportunity..

I agree with your comment that a noon time event during the week is not the best one for drawing the younger fans... School, work, etc.. I was thinking the same thing...

shaley said...

Couldn't have said it better myself, Gabi. Bravo!
And congratulations on meeting Adam!! Good for you for seizing this opportunity. It may not come along again.
I've been thrown under the bus on twitter for defending us more "mature" fans, (& many here know I'm used to that & couldn't give a rat's behind) & most have been supporting Adam from the very beginning. Although I agree he needs younger fans, that in no way should demenish the importance of the older faithful ones. If I stay away from future radio m&g's it won't be because of age crap. I totally agree that the few who do show up isn't going to make or break him. We as older fans are are invaluable and I refuse to let anyone convince me otherwise.

OMG lmao

You are dumb as a post if you think adam would turn down a chance to be in front of 10 million people.

Poor guy is doing radio m and g in front of 20 people. Get real.

..."I saw a good number of empty seats that could have been filled by a few more of the young and hip and super cool crowd that we are craving for Adam"...

Gabi thank you for reporting I am so happy to hear no younger fans, general public or casual fans did not miss their chance to have a seat or meet Adam if they wanted one.

Congrats on meeting Adam!

Anonymous said...

Gabi has no way of knowing the number of people they planned on having for the meet and greet. That number of chair could always be in the room or they had extra for their own staff.

Absolutely ridiculous to say spots went unfilled by young people based on the number if chairs in a room. People are getting desperate to justify why it was OK they went.

Anonymous said...

Take a look at the radio station website and other artists Above & Beyond and Magic! had 20 or more m&g pics with fans.

I would think more than 12 meet & greet opportunities for radio listeners would have been available for Adam just like the other artists. It's absolutely ridiculous to blame fans for showing their support especially when they have never met Adam.

A casual fan over 35 listening to the radio promo and won tix would not know about this 35 and under target demo. Many people remember Adam from AI. AI is one of the five most popular shows among adults ages 50 and over. Therefore, I would expect a fan who loves AI would like a chance to meet Adam and there is a greater chance of them being older than 35.

Don't assume every fan you see over 35 is a hard core glambert who is active in forums & twitter. How would the casual fan know anyone over the age of 35 is not wanted by Adam or his pr team?

We all want the same thing, Adam to be successful.
I assume I am correct. I go along with the supposition that these contests and interviews are at a difficult time for younger people to be present.

@Anon 8:17 PM
Well gosh.....

Just so you know, (not that I need to tell you anything but here it is), I've been to exactly one radio promo, back in 2012. One. I was invited by a Twitter friend who was gracious enough to think of me.. That's it.. It was the Bing Lounge event in Portland, Oregon.. There were 150 other fans there. Including middle aged relatives of Adam's who live in the area.. I suppose they should have stayed home too, according to your criteria for suitable ages at meet and greets.. No cougars, no older fans.. No one told them apparently..

Your comment is rude and insulting to many great fans of Adam's.. and to me. It's none of your business that I've enjoyed going to some Adam Lambert concerts.. I've had one front row seat at a concert, back in 2010. I sat with my husband.. We were thrilled to see Adam up close... The rest of my family was there as well. We all adore Adam.. My last Adam solo concert was in November 2013.. I attended some Queen + Adam Lambert concerts, none of which were first row.. in fact most were in very far away seats.. I was just amazed to be there.. I enjoy going to shows with friends. We enjoy each other's company.. My Adam fandom has had the very special additional perk of meeting some truly wonderful new friends..

You have no idea what you're talking about in your references to me personally.. You are putting all women who are over a certain age in a box, and an ugly one at that.. and dismissing them as unworthy.. And making accusations about me that you have no knowledge of.. And no reason to assume about me..

I don't do general admission if I can help it (I'm petite and if I have anyone tall in front of me, I'm screwed.. I spent an entire concert behind 2 cute tall guys and as a result could only see Adam on occasion..).. I don't push anyone to get to the front.. I pay for a seat.. Sometimes in the balcony, far from the stage..

I don't intend to try for radio promo.. I've had my meet and greet with Adam. I'm a nice person and a respectful fan..

I think you really need to read my comments again.. I support fans who have not met Adam already to meet him.. It's a wonderful and surreal moment.....

And as I said above, more than once, I "get" why Adam's management would love to have younger fans at the promos... I'm not naive or stupid.

I usually ignore comments like yours, but your statements were frankly ridiculous.. And assumptions based on your unfair, prejudicial opinions of "older" fans... and of me..

Have a nice day.

Glitzylady, you did start out supporting what Shosh had said and recommending we follow that request. Then you seemed to switch sides. You know all but one of that group of fans is well over 54 and look it. They have also seen Adam multiple times. You did sound patronizing and passive aggressive which is not new.

There is no reason to think the event would be empty without the repeat offenders, as Adam called them, there. With a call in contest the next person on the phone line would have won the tickets.

I understand your sympathy for your friend but that doesn't make her special enough to ignore Shosh's request and to put her wants before the best interests of Adam's career. For the record I am 49 and have never met Adam and have only seen his concerts twice. I will not try to go see a radio promo if Adam comes to my city.

You often brag about how many concerts you have been to and who you sat by or what hotel you stayed in so you shouldn't be surprised someone got the impression you were in front row frequently.

I'm sure I will be attacked now but sometimes the truth needs to be said even if it isn't popular.

Have a nice day.

glitzylady said...

There was a time that it was fun to share stories about our Adam events and adventures.. We were excited and new to this great Adam fandom adventure.. Apparently that time is long since past.. Sadly.. No more sharing for me..

I don't brag.. and if you read the comment about my friend I didn't suggest that she should go against Shosh or anyone else. She would not do that.. And I would not advise her to.. She's an extremely intelligent woman doesn't need my input.. I was only saying that it's too bad she missed opportunities along the way.. Times have changed, have become more complicated, and we will change with them..

I was sharing my personal thoughts here.. Guessing it's not worth it.. particularly since I am identifiable.. and you are not..

All of the anons can share whatever they chose to share and no one knows who they are.. I can see the advantage of that right now..

By the way, I only saw a few of the pictures from the event apparently when I made the original statement.. I've recently seen more and yes, I do see now that there are many older fans as well as the younger ones... I apologize for my error.

I truly do hope you have an opportunity to meet Adam someday... He's a sweetheart..

Anons get disagreed with as much as the named people do.

Often someone will accuse an anon of being all the anons that disagreed with them.

It's just part of the way things work and there are benefits and drawbacks to both being named and being anon.

A drawback for being anon is you aren't recognized for being the person who writes well liked comments or for being the person who brought some great links here. But not all of us need to be named and recognized.

Good and bad things come with whatever choice you make. No point in complaining about the less desirable things.

If older fans are told not to attend these radio promos due to their age that is DISCRIMINATION. None of us likes the thought of Adam being discriminated against on the grounds of his sexual orientation, well it's the same thing discrimination. If this sort of thing keeps happening, I for one refuse to continue my support for Adam and will not be buying his album or any of his merchandise, and I'm sure I am not the only older fan who feels this way, it's a two way thing his management really needs to rethink their request to push older fans out of the way, as far as I can see Adam needs all the support he can get but their's a principal to uphold here that's terribly wrong.

To plan to hurt Adam, the bearer of light & love, the source of joy and the VOICE & talent in this century’s music world, in ANY way, form or capacity, is just plain AWFUL! And this coming from people almost or more than twice his age (and - hopefully - more life experience!) is MORE than awful! You/We should know better!

Fight the system! Don’t hurt the one you love and respect! Adam has had and still has so many battles to win in the line of work/business he’s chosen and in his personal/private life, too (especially in US)!

To threaten to withdraw your support and love for him for THIS… just shows you/some have some growing up (maturing, lol!) to do. With age should come gracefulness and generosity, understanding of how to give in and give something for the good and benefit of “the bigger picture”… the community, i.e. this fandom… Not supporting any kind of discrimination here, just using (long lost?) common sense.

To quote one of the true ladies (seldom posting) here
“Love thru Adam”, now and always!

Wow. I am really late to the game -- and I created this post. 81 comments over the period of 2+ days since it was posted -- that has to be a record. Definitely a record this many people coming back to a post to comment after the post has moved WAY down the list.

First of all, I find it interesting how pretty much no one said anything about the post itself! The interview. And the fact that I pointed out that Adam said there will be more songs we'll be able to listen to before the album release. Then one Anon put in their opinion on an aspect of promotion -- and it took off from there.

I'm fascinated at how these blogs/forums are used. I also admire all of our readers' passion -- it's inspiring.

But I do need to inform you of something "admin"-wise. We welcome all kinds of comments and opinions -- as long as it is done respectfully. We welcome, as I myself have worded previously, "divergent opinion." But lack of respect for a person -- no. This is where we fully have the right to delete offensive posts as this.

I looked at every single of the 81 posts and while high emotion was there throughout, most people were respectful. Except for two posts. Not sure if they both were from the same person or from two different people.

The first one was early on in the comments and characterized an entire group of people with a horrible epithet. That is now deleted, and I apologize to everyone for it not having been done so sooner.

The other one was much later in the string -- and was highly offensive to my fellow admin, glitzylady. It could have been offensive to anyone, and probably was -- it was offensive to me.

If you want to criticize someone for their point of view -- disagree, argue, etc. -- fine. But to characterize someone for who they are? No. That goes against comment decency and respect and it certainly goes against what Adam has always promoted: inclusiveness.

So, those two highly offensive posts? Deleted.

I so respect glitzylady for having the courage to do what she does within these pages, but especially for being a part of the discussion and not just an "admin" -- she's a better person than I. She works extremely hard to get Adam news out to all of you. You may not agree with her viewpoint or opinion, but she deserves our respect.

And I give her major kudos for defending herself from an unwarranted attack as was in the now-deleted comment. I'm only sorry I didn't get here sooner to clean that up.

I have been in a relationship for the past 4 years with a guy, and i love him more that i love myself, i could do anything for him without thinking twice about it, only for him to tell me that he wasn't interested in us any longer in the fourth year of our relationship. i was so frustrated that i almost lost it. i asked a friend for help on how to have him back and she directed me to a spell caster; i had no other choice but to believe everything, she asked me to contact the spell caster of which i did, and the sell caster told me that in the next seven days my ex will return back to me and so it was, on the fifth day my ex called me bagging for mercy and asking for forgiveness for all he did to me and that he wants us to be together again. Now am the most happiest woman on earth for what this great spell caster did for me, that from this day hence forth i will always publish her work to help millions out for needs it. you can reach her on (annashelly42@gmail.com) if you need her assistance on relationship, promotion, cure for any illness ever know, for pregnancy and any other thing you could ever think of.
