I don't think he is gloomy, he looks like he is about to start his ballad. Did not think he was 'giggly' on his radio interviews. He laughed if something was funny, but over all I thought he was quite serious and wanted to talk about his music, which in a couple of cases was hard to get the DJ's to do. At least one was more interested in his personal life, than the reason he was there at all.
