#5. Adam Lambert

Season and place: Season eight, second place

Both of Adam Lambert's albums, the Grammy-nominated For Your Entertainment and Trespassing, made it into the Top 10 of the Billboard 200, with the latter reaching the No. 1 spot. He has guest-starred on several TV shows, including Glee, and is known for publicly advocating for LGBT rights. Even if his net worth wasn't $12 million (it is), he'd still make our list for being a very influential social activist. His next album, The Original High, will be released on June 12, and his new single, "Ghost Town," is out now. You go, boy.

YEAH NAILED IT! Unbelievable; You would think that Adam Lambert won American Idol with all the positive publicity that he is getting with the announcement that American Idol is shutting it's doors for good after next season! Some people were concerned about the timing of the announcement interfering with Adam's new single. Their thinking was that it would bring negativity towards Adam because he did not win officially win his season. Well, I think it is having a very positive effective on Adam, and keeping his name in the News Papers all around the Country in a very positive light! I personally am getting calls from friends in California and New York, because of articles about Adam in their news papers. some wanting to know what happen to him, because they knew that I have been a long time fan. Of course I guide them to all of Adam's video's, including GHOST TOWN. They all love it; and a couple have started following him. So I think this is a win, win for Adam!

Saw Idol tonight; sorry, the spark was just not there for me. It's Adam's fault of course!

I see a lot of different rankings on Adam regarding AI...#2 #3 #5 etc...trying to make one stick. lol! Try #1 and the others will not be necessary. It's quite obvious now that it's coming to an end, who made it to the top of the heap, taking into consideration the short time frame of 6 years and a worldwide context as in touring with iconic band Queen in sold-out arenas...which other Idol alumnus would have been able to do that.

Thank you for that posting of the youtube mention regarding Gerphil Flores; she is absolutely macnificant as a singer and such a beautiful young woman; she certainly is a star in her own right! She seems very sweet and humble too! I would say a star is born!! After watching Idol tonight and then this; this young lady would have blown them all out of the water; just as Adam did on his season and every season since then incomparison!

My brother in law was over tonight. He has always teased me about my Adam obsession, but it was different today. He considers Adam a "household" name now and could only name two other significant Idols (which were Kelly and Carrie of course). He asked about the new single and I played it for him. He liked it and mentioned that the more restrained vocals sound really cool. I agreed :)

I think we all get really caught in this success bubble at times as we want our boy to make it to the very top, but Adam in fact is very successful. I heard GT on SF radio 4 times today btw!

Hi Katy.....You're welcome!
Gerphil is indeed a huge star with a firm footing on world stardom. When she was almost at the end of the song, with an already very high note, I thought that was it, but she took it one step further...that knocked all the judges off their feet. They would have heard it at rehearsals perhaps but she would have to deliver it on stage. As for me...I was totally wowed off-guard by that ultra high note...I said out loud, Whoa! Reminds of Adam when he sings big ballads; the element of surprise. Actually she knows what she's doing, an understatement though; being an undergraduate studying music/singing at university. You rightly pointed out she's very humble; indeed.
