In the absence of Mercury, former American Idol contestant and "Ghost Town" singer Adam Lambert has taken over frontman duties for Queen, replicating Mercury's majestic persona and hitting the same sharp notes.

"frontman duties" sounds quite cute, only they aren't duties. It's Adam's own expression of Queen songs.
Similarly "replicate"...Adam never replicates. Any authentic artist will never do that, they just can't because it diminishes their own talent.
