Last night (June 12), during their headlining performance in the final night of the Isle of Wight Festival at Seaclose Park in the UK, Adam Lambert and Queen showed their support for the victims of the Orlando shooting with a tribute performance of “Who Wants To Live Forever?”, originally released on Queen’s 1986’s record, A Kind of Magic.

“This song is dedicated to those that lost their life last night in Orlando, Florida, and anybody that has been victim of senseless violence or hatred,” Lambert began before launching into the emotionally charged track.

Following the performance, Lambert spoke out on Twitter, urging his followers to donate to the GoFundMe for Orlando victims.

One of the most touching Who Wants To Live Forever videos of QAL. My favourite laser-ball descending on Adam is symbolic; like those tragically departed come to him and then the laser-ball rises and floats upwards.

To the departed...victims of a mass murder in the early hours of Orlando...RIP.
With love and condolence to their families, friends, loved ones.

The Queen accompaniment, very sombre, especially the base drum, dooong dooong, a death knell.

This is a very deep-seeded issue that needs to be tackled on many fronts; probably start with the elimination of multiple-successive-firing machine-guns. Why does an ordinary person need that?
A person who is not in control of his own mind/self may feel a kind of pseudo empowerment, to unleash on others, cold-blooded murder.
Like Adam, I also think it's not purely, perhaps partially an anti-gay attack; the attacker saw a fault-line, a crowded gay club, lax security, for him to execute maximum carnage.
Another major factor, I think is, many minority people feel segregated from main stream, like they are cast aside or even bullied; and this accumulates from as early as teen years and if left unchecked may eventually explode.

Adams articulate and heartfelt communications most assuredly made an impact on a grieving g LGBT community in these dark days.

That laser-ball has fascinated me since the first time I saw it, but never envisaged such a profound meaning I would attach to it; especially when the laser-ball comes down to Adam; rises and snuffs out at the top.
