Adam says he is not a practicing Jew, but it's very cool that he is able to visit some of the iconic places of his religious heritage. Nice that he's got a few days to stay and sightsee.

Dee R. Gee, if he's not a practicing Jew, I don't think it can be his RELIGIOUS heritage. It might just be his RACIAL heritage, IMHO. Still a wonderful and inspiring experience for him, I'm sure.

There are things that are more profound than being religious. Touching the Western Wall is about as close as you can get, both meaningful and reflective. Adam is a Jew by birth, as his mother is Jewish, whether he practices it or not. Hope he gets to see .the Dead Sea.

Adam is part Jew by birth, but he is not a practicing Jew, so this sight seeing trip, has probably been quite enlightening for him. He loves historical sites, and since this pertains a tiny bit about his heritage, should be extremely interesting for him. He is not religious in any way at all, but he is still a very kind and giving man, and people love him for that. He will remember this trip, possibly more than most others. Not sure where he is now, possibly already flying to his next stop.

Adam is not part Jew. He's fully Jewish because his mother is Jewish. A person can only be Jewish if his/her mother is Jewish.

By the way, in case anyone is wondering:

"Tefillin" refers to:

"a set of small black leather boxes containing scrolls of parchment inscribed with verses from the Torah. They are worn by male observant Jews during weekday morning prayers."

And in this case, are contained in the small black box worn on Adam's head in the photos..

Although Adam has said in the past that he is not an actively observant Jew, he has also said that his family did observe the Jewish holidays.. And is certainly considered Jewish because his mother Leila is Jewish.

One more thing: Jewish is not a "race".. It's technically a religion....

How Adam feels about his Jewish-ness is something he alone knows. I love that he was able to spend time in Israel and visit some of the historic sites.

So nice to see Adam participate in prayers at the a Western Wall with the Rabbi. I honestly wondered if he was finally having his bar mitzvah having the rabbi with him. He was also taken in the tunnels underneath the wall where many Jewish religious artifacts have been found. Anyway, this was a terrific visit for him professionally and personally and a think Adam will visit again.

I have always felt that Adam plays his Jewish card, to not participate in anything Christian. Just observing what he has actually said when asked.

Anne Marie: Way in the beginning when fans asked him for Xmas Song Albums he always said "I'm a Jew". He doesn't celebrate any Christian holidays. He was raised Jewish and always has considered himself a Jewish man. Now whether he is orthodox, no he isn't, but , Jewish none the less. He isn't playing any cards.

Gonna chime in here although I may be wrong ... Jewish refers to where you were born .. or ancestry ... like American ... French .. Italian, etc. Judaism is the religion ... such as Catholic ... Presbyterian ... Shinto-ism, etc. ... although with this ever-changing world it's becoming harder to pin-point ancestry. However ... religion remains the same no matter what your ancestry. JMO

He has said he is a Jew a lot every time he is asked, not just at the beginning. He has never talked about his dad, of course, he may be an atheist, if we are talking about religion. I have always thought that he has said he is a Jew, because he is, but also to end the conversation. His dad is Scandinavian and, he rarely talks about that,. In fact he did not even know what his dad's ancestry was, when asked, and he obviously checked with his dad, and next time he was asked, he had some answers. After this concert, he might look into more of the Jewish religion. Adam is very curious about a lot of things, and the Rabbi with him probably answered many question, that Adam had. Actually Adam practices no religion, and never refers to God, except in a song. Jews do believe in God, but still think the Messiah is still to come, and they don't believe Jesus was the Messiah. They do believe however that Jesus was a good man. This is the difference between a Jew and a Christian.

I am Jewish. I was raised Conservative. We celebrated the High Holidays, Passover and Hannukah. I am more of a ethnic Jew than a practicing Jew. What that means to me is that I feel part of a centuries old religion and religion many times is a filter for how I see the world. Being in Israel brings the reality of the history of your ancestors and it makes the religion more real. I hope Adam finds some of the spirituality of his heritage while he is there.

Agree 100% Sweetietsd
I believe Adam very possibility found some spirituality going to Jerusalem. I have been there a few times and when you stand by the Western Wall there is an energy and you realize why this is as close as Jews can come to the "Holy of Holies" and the fact that wall has stood for 2,000 plus years. I truly believe Adam will visit Israel again.
