I just came from Brian May's website, and was startled by the news....(dated Friday, Oct. 21, 2016)....that the Brian May and Kerry Ellis UK concert tour scheduled for 3 weeks in December 2016 has been cancelled due to Dr. May's illness.

Dr. May said... "I managed to complete the recent Queen and Adam Lambert dates in Asia, but I have been increasingly battling with a persistent illness which is destroying my energy and will"... and he doesn't feel confident in being able to perform up to standard for the December concerts. The purchased tickets will be refunded.

But previously (Oct.14, 2016)Dr. May had shared the news that Queen and Adam Lambert will be touring again soon..... and then, one day later (Oct. 15, 2016) said... "Yes, it does look like QAL will hit the road sometime in the New Year".

That's all I could find out.... but we'll have to keep up with this news. I can't bear the thought of there never being another QAL concert.... but am hoping that Brian's health improves soon.

I am somewhat optimistic because of the timing of the above information....i.e. Dr. May evidently was ill during at least part of the QAL Asia tour....and was still feeling ill when he indicated on Oct. 14 and 15 that there would be a QAL tour in 2017.... but finally felt ill enough to cancel the December 2016 tour with Kerry Ellis after being advised to "rest and heal". So this wasn't a sudden illness that happened, and therefore is very likely not a terminable type of illness.

I meant "a terminal type of illness".

My heart goes out to Brian. Many of us Adam fans have gotten to know and love since Adam joined Queen. Brian is a truly gently soul. A smart, sensitive, talented gentleman. I hope his rest and restoration will bring him back to all of us healthy and strong, mentally and physically. There is a lot of music still to play!

Shelagh.... I appreciate your noting that Dr. May said he is suffering from ongoing depression. I know that he has had bouts of it before, but hesitated to suggest that it might be his current problem.

Also, after reading my earlier comment, I am appalled and ashamed to discover how callous and selfish I sounded.... it seemed to suggest that my main concern was that there might not ever be another QAL concert!

Besides his amazing musicianship, I admire Dr. May for his intellect, dedicated public service, and animal protection. He is a true Renaissance Man, and seems to be a kind and down-to-earth person as well.....one you'd be proud to call "friend"... and lucky to be one.

I hope he recovers to perfect health soon. Depression is a very cruel illness. The world needs more multi-talented people like him!
