ADAM Lambert has admitted that he got “a little carried away” when he dissed fellow X Factor judge Iggy Azalea in a series of interviews.
Earlier this week Lambert labelled the Aussie rapper a diva and suggested her behaviour stems from her lack of knowledge about singing.

“I think she’s embarrassed that she doesn’t know anything about singing,” Lambert said to 2Day FM’s Rove and Sam, “so maybe she’s just defensive”.

“Guy [Sebastian] and I are giving all this technical talk, so maybe she just feels threatened.”
Lambert also suggested that Azalea didn’t spend too much time working one-one-one with her musical groups in the competition.

“I’m like, ‘maybe the people you’re mentoring might be kind of important, just a thought ... isn’t that why you’re here?’” Lambert said to Nova’s Fitzy and Wippa.
The 34-year-old even revealed that Azalea’s contestants, who have all since been eliminated, used to approach him for advice.

“I don’t know if I should talk about it — but they came into my dressing room and were like ‘what should we do?’ so I just tried to help, off the record,” he said.
Speaking to news.com.au today, Lambert said he was probably too harsh with his comments about Azalea.

I don't think what he said was really bad . He doesn't know anything about rapping, and she's not really a singer. She does know about production numbers, so I think the groups were good for her. Looks life after the comments they were still talking on the show. Is the press or whatever blowing this out of proportion.

I agree Allysa. I also agree with Adam that he could have been more brief in his comments.
It seems Adam is taking his mentoring seriously and is trying to help his team win. As it should be. If the other contestants are left hanging out there with no one to answer their concerns , they are going to be asking someone. It seems the show needs an employee that is available to pick up the slack when the judges can't be available. It all puts Adam in an uncomfortable conflicted position and that's not fair to him, Isaiah or Amalia.

I would actually like to see him replace Adam Levine on The .Voice US. The Levine vs Shelton rivalry is getting boring.

He's probably right about her, but as I said before, I thought it was out of character for him. I mean, he defends Kesha, and she is somewhat of the same ilk as Iggy. Neither one is what i would consider a supreme talent. They are just lucky. They better cash in while they can.

Yea, I think Adam might have been harsh about saying Iggy doesn't know anything about singing; in which case she shouldn't be at the judges table in the first place.
A rapper is not exactly a singer but the synchronisation of the rap lyric to the rhythm and music has got quite a bit to do with singing.

What is the criteria for judges anyway? Through the years, various judges on different programs of this type have not all been singers-- or musicians. The best known of them is, of course, Simon Cowell.

I guess there's something to be said for a "laymen's" point of view, too...... since most of the listeners/audiences will be laymen themselves.

I'm glad that Adam admitted that he might have gone a bit overboard on his Iggy remarks. I feel too that he did. Unfortunately what has been said cannnot be un-heard.

I don't know how much Adam is being paid for this show but it ain't enough. I hope for his career he comes home and doesn't return. We need his voice back hoe like never before

Simon Cowell created & executive produces The X Factor phenomenon. He is also a record producer and he knows what sells e.g. to name a couple of success stories, he created One Direction and promoted Susan Boyle as well as other successful artists he's promoted, and he'll probably nurture more promising talent in the future. It would be good to have someone possessing his expertise on all The X Factor judging panels, but maybe that's not possible.

I too am glad that Adam has now addressed his unfortunate comments made about Iggy. She may not be a musical genius but she is doing very well in her chosen genre.

As The X Factor is Simon Cowell's "baby" so to speak, surely he has some input into who the judges should be on these shows, and if that's the case, he'd know about Iggy & whether or not she'd be suitable for the role. I feel sure he had a hand in choosing Mel B for this judging panel. They've been together on other reality talent TV shows and I've read that he likes her judging a lot.

Adam's filter wasn't fully turned on & he really rarely disses anyone, but he's always honest & usually spot on when it comes to entertainment & responsibility. He has a great work ethic & always gives 100%. Queen certainly recognizes it & respects Adam's commitment. Iggy may not have that same sense of commitment or vocal experience. Adam has also had professional vocal lessons & years of experience. He knows his business & isn't in the least mean spirited & he's so in the moment & genuine, I think he just forgot he was being recorded live.

Iggy must have some music and singing knowledge otherwise she wouldn't be as successful as she is, and she wouldn't have been chosen to be a judge and mentor on the XFactorAU.

I hope Amalia wins. She's the best contestant vocally & with ADAM as a mentor she has blossomed on stage also ... IMO!! Isaiah is good too, however ... but Vlado has that apple cheeked Justin B. look that all the teens go for so it's a toss-up between him & Isaiah ... except for Davey ... it seem as though all the young-uns are left ... but we'll see how it goes this week. Fingers crossed for #TeamADAM

Adam admitted that he talks a lot but in my opinion, he speaks for the truth and it's rare when you are in this business!!!:) If Iggy was offended, for sure we heard it already!:)

Being successful in the music industry doesn't necessarily mean supreme talent. Sometimes it's the 'IT" factor. Other times it's being in the right place at the right time or having a producer who knows his stuff. Other times it just blind luck and often doesn't have longevity. I look at some of the people who are repeatedly at the top of the charts in sales and popularity and I shake my head in disbelief. By rights Adam should be riding the waves of all the pop charts. He isn't. He does better internationally than he does in his own country. There are people who shouldn't be there at all. In my personal opinion, I believe there are some songs that were made for Adam, and he often chooses to cover them on tour. For instance Stay, Rihanna's hit. I always say, now why wasn't that given to Adam instead? I think, though, that Adam gravitates more toward a certain type of dance music, and that doesn't always translate to top of the pop charts. I think he does best with rock and ballads which showcase his versatility vocally. I buy his albums to support his career, but I'm not a big fan of what he has chosen to record. I am thrilled that he is fronting Queen with that amazing, diverse music, but I just wish that he would move away from the dance beat. Bruno Mars has done dance music, but he tries all kinds of music with many different styles, and he tops the charts. I want so badly for Adam to knock everyone out with his music, and so far that's just not happening. Will he even be mentioned at the American Music Awards coming up? Clue me in on this a I've heard nothing. And please don't attack me for being honest here.

Adam is very partial to that LA Club scene and integrates that EDM vibe in most of his music. He spends so much of his time in clubs in and out of the US, his musical tastes are skewed in that direction, which does not resonate with everyone. Would be nice if album #4 deviated from that pattern and his reliance on that dance beat, and he finds a way to be artistic as well as more commercial.

JMO - with the present political climate and Pence heading the transition team, I think further social progress with mainstream music shows and featured acts will be curtailed for the moment - especially programs that are nationally televised and run by conservative media moguls ( which would be a majority of the stations with the exception of cable). While much progress has been made, Adam is still the victim of subtle discrimination because he is so open. I would like nothing more than to be proven wrong in the months and years to come.
