Ultimate Classic Rock: Queen Are Considering Recording New Music With Adam Lambert

Roger Taylor says it’s “quite possible” Queen will record new songs with singer Adam Lambert in the future.

The band has reconvened for two album projects since original singer Freddie Mercury died, 1995’s Made in Heaven and the 2014 compilation, Queen Forever – but that was only to update leftover material. (They also released an album with Paul Rodgers, Cosmos Rocks, in 2008.) “If we do anything in the future, I’d like it to be something new,” Taylor told Planet Rock. “I don’t know how new it would sound, but I think if [guitarist] Brian [May] could come up with a song or two which we felt, sort of, fitted, you know.”

Lambert has been performing with Queen, off and on, since their 2009 performance together on American Idol. They’ve just returned from a string of shows in the Far East, following European dates in 2012 and then the U.S. in 2014. “It’s great to know that there’s still a demand,” Taylor added. “And we do love playing with Adam Lambert – who is an incredible singer and a lovely man.”

I have mixed feelings about the "new material with Adam" thing. Half of me wants it to happen BIG TIME! Adam would really do them proud, no doubt. But the other half of me feels that, no matter how great the new music is, they'll just face criticism from purist fans. I know Adam has won over lots of devoted Queen fans 100%. I just dont' know what to wish for. I guess, bottom line, they should do it! And to hell with the naysayers!

Maybe a mix of new songs & some of the lesser known songs of the old QUEEN catalog ... there are so many to choose from ... ADAM would put his own spin on them in a fresh & new way ... ala "QUEENBERT-esque" ... IMO!!

Why couldn't their music be labeled as it already is for their tours?---"Queen and Adam Lambert"...or "Q & A"... or"QUAL"...or "Queenbert".. or whatever. Not under the brand name of Queen alone.

The hell with the damn "purists"---Freddie died in 1991--25 years ago! Brian and Roger wrote and arranged all that music, too. They have a perfect right to play THEIR music -- and Adam has turned up and been the only person who can help them bring it to life again... and they love doing it and are so happy performing with him.

There's a whole new set of fans out there for QAL-- to them, Adam is the ONLY frontman who they have ever seen with Queen...and they love him!

Imagine the thousands of delighted fans they have performed for since they started! I'll bet that, like us, thousands would buy an album or DVD to memorialize QAL's sold out concerts.

I think a combination of some the best songs from their current "Who wants to Live Forever",etc. along with some new songs would be good, too.

I keep hoping something like that will happen-- new hints and remarks make me Brian saying that Queen and Adam Lambert may "shake things up in 2017".

Shaking things up in 2107 is fine with me!!!! I want MORE visibility for Adam in any way possible. It would help with marketing his next album and his own music. QAL has been an fantastic boost for him and it gives him amazing cred. But QAL will come to an end and some point. And Adam's career will continue far beyond it. I'd love to see him established in his own right with a lifelong career and respect.
