A sell-out crowd enjoyed a performance by international superstar Robbie Williams at the BBC’s annual concert held at Central Hall Westminster on New Year’s Eve. Over the course of the evening, several million viewers tuned into the concert with viewing figures climbing from 5m to 11.6m in the first half hour. The spike in figures arose as large numbers tuned in to watch the world-famous midnight fireworks display over the River Thames preceded by Big Ben’s midnight chimes counted down by Robbie Williams on the balcony of Central Hall.

This was the fourth year in a row that the BBC selected the iconic central London venue for the New Year’s Eve Concert, which has also previously hosted top musical performers including Gary Barlow and Queen + Adam Lambert in the venue’s 2,400 capacity Great Hall.

Paul Southern, Managing Director of Central Hall Westminster, commented: “Central Hall is now the traditional New Year’s Eve venue and we have already extended our contract with the BBC. The venue looked spectacular with an amazing mix of beautiful architecture which was enhanced by cutting-edge technology. The Bitmap projections on the ceiling of the dome were jaw-dropping and we hope this type of show has opened clients’ eyes to what can be achieved here.
