Ace Show Biz: Adam Lambert Says He'd Love to Be Judge on 'American Idol' Revival

Producers of "American Idol" reboot on ABC are still struggling to assemble the judge panel for the show, but maybe they can consider this "American Idol" alum to fill in one of the spots. Talking to Entertainment Tonight, season 8 runner-up Adam Lambert weighs in on the show's revival as well as shares how he feels about Katy Perry as the judge.

"I think she'll be great, she has a long history with the show too," Adam says of the "Chained to the Rhythm" hitmaker. However, when asked whether he will join the revival, the singer says, "No, they haven't reached out to me."

Adam later suggests that he would love to fill in the role. "I did Australia's 'The X Factor' last year and I had so much fun. I had a blast, I mean, the thing that I liked about that a lot was that I was able to both be a judge and a mentor, which I was very thankful for. It's one thing to criticize somebody after they've worked, but it's another thing to get in there and help them be the best."

"When ['American Idol'] was on FOX I was there every season," he adds. "I would come on and do something and I owe the show great debt of gratitude. I love the show. I think it's great. I would love to come back and pop in."

That's not exactly what he said about wanting to join the show but he seems to be getting more publicity for the show than anyone else.

When Am Idol starts right out with a 25 million dollar judge, how are they going to get anyone for much less than that to sit beside that kind of money every week? If Adam does become a part of the show, I will be happy knowing he's happy. That's the bottom line for me.

What Adam actually said in the article:

"When ['American Idol'] was on FOX I was there every season," he adds. "I would come on and do something and I owe the show great debt of gratitude. I love the show. I think it's great. I would love to come back and pop in."

"Come back & pop in" suggests to me that he would love to make an appearance at least once per season, as he has in past years. i.e. perform, perhaps as a guest mentor, as a guest judge.. All of which has has done. But not so much as the title suggested that he'd like to be a judge for the entire season.

I agree, glitzylady --- I think he is more interested in "popping-in" at American Idol than
committing himself to a full season of judging. For that matter he might not even be available, timewise, for AI.

Also, he's talking about being almost finished with the work on his next album...and he has to find a good segment of time in which he can release and promote it....I assume during breaks between the coming Queen tours. And then he will have his own tour to work into his schedule somewhere.

I have no idea which he prefers, Queen's tours or his own. But, If he asked me, I would say "tour with Queen as often and as long as possible....each concert is a blessing". QAL's current success this time in North American was phenomenal....up many notches from the very successful previous one. I expect that will be true of the coming tours overseas as well. All of these are boosting Adam's recognition, reputation and fandom greatly, and soon he'll be able to have larger venues for his own concerts, All good!

I have to admit that I love, love, love Adam with Queen. He has developed into a powerful entertainer with them...is so confident... and the music suits (shows off) his voice to perfection! And, lord knows, he has the best touring band in the world!!!!...with the best touring mechanism, equipment and know-how in the world!

I hope ADAM continues to tour with QUEEN whenever possible! I can't imagine QUEEN on stage with anyone else .. especially these Freddie "clones" .. I think that would be a big disappointment to the QAL fans who have learned to LOVE both ADAM & QUEEN as a package!! I would certainly hate to see Brian, Roger & the rest of the guys stop touring .. they are all so great together .. I don't want any interlopers messing with QUEEN!! It wouldn't be the same ... they've got a great thing going now & I hope they Rock together for a long & successful time!!

As for Idol .. that's entirely up to ADAM ... I won't bother to watch it unless ADAM is involved in some way .. not necessarily a judge!! Maybe guest appearance .. I've lost all interest in these "talent" shows .. found my Idol .. quite satisfied .. TYVM!!

Lambert Outlaw....don't give up on Idol. If you had done that BEFORE Adam's season...just think....you might never have become an Glambert!

And there is more than one "pearl" in the ocean....kind of like a treasure hunt. It isn't as though you would be looking for a replacement/competition for Adam! Look at how great Adam's friend, Alisan Porter, is....or how exciting it was to discover Adam's protege, Isaiah Firebrace, in Australia.

Besides, American Idol has been a big support for Adam, with guest appearances by him forthcoming if it continues... so he is assured TV exposure.

I agree that there is a lot of raw talent out there waiting to be discovered but I was so very disappointed by the Season 8 decision that I swore I'd never watch it again after ADAM's ridiculous loss!! I guess I'm still a little bitter about that ... BTW .. I didn't bother to watch Idol after Kelly won the first season .. never was a real viewer until I heard ADAM .. then I was glued to the TV every minute that he was on .. couldn't wait to see his next performance!! As a matter of fact .. I was a country fan before that & I never really liked J Cash's version of Ring of Fire .. but when I heard ADAM sing it I was totally signed, sealed & delivered on the song!! Never heard of Zeppelin or Aerosmith or any of the hard rock music .. they never appealed to me but when ADAM sang their songs his way I started listening to them & decided that their music was enjoyable!! See .. Nanbert .. ADAM said that he was going to give us music that we loved & even music that we didn't even know we'd love .. turned my whole music world around. I still listen to other artists from the past .. even some classical music but it's just good music to me .. ADAM's & QUEEN's are GREAT MUSIC!! I'm a goner .. Nan .. I'm a goner .. no hope for me .. without ADAM behind the music it's just OK to me!! But I hope ADAM gets to be a judge on Idol if that's what he wants .. I'm all in!!

Lambert Outlaw....you're "preaching to the choir" here. First seeing and hearing Adam on American Idol...it was like a ton of bricks fell on my head. And, like you, Adam's "Ring of Fire" just shot through me like a lightning bolt...I still visit it often on youtube.

I don't know about you, but I often feel that Adam's loss on American Idol "caused" the Glamberts to become a very "fierce" fandom.... we might not have become so obsessed if he had won.

But knowing that the win had been STOLEN from him, made us angry and protective... and determined to help him overcome that loss! He has even remarked, perceptively, about our "protectiveness".

He really DID "make me want to listen to music again"!
