We have come a long way with so many basic human rights, but we still have such a long way to go. The treatment of women world-wide, in some cultures, is abysmal, even barbaric.

Yes, a global epidemic but it's an eternal epidemic actually, that existed from as far back as ancient times where girls/women were treated second class, less intelligent and subservient to men. Many women, globally, still harbour such self-defeatist mindset allowing men in general to control them, thinking they are smarter, earn more money; well, some, sole bread-winners. As rightly pointed out @ Evanrachaelwood, it's a societal problem. And predators/opportunists take full advantage of this gaping fault-line / weakness that many women portray.
It's very brave of so many women, now think it's time to equalise their position with men. I'm thankful and fortunate I've always be treated on par with my male counterparts in my country.

I love Adam because he always respects women and makes them feel comfortable when they are near him.

I think because women do not attract him sexually, Adam discovers their true qualities.

Mirela I love your last statement. I never thought of it that way. Adam seems to have the gift of really reading and feeling not just women but all people. Just one of the many reasons we are attracted to him other than that fabulous voice!

In most cases, it seems that dominance and love of power plays as large a part as sex...maybe more. That seems to be a turn-on to many men. Rape is certainly the sickest "power-play" and "proof" of dominance.

I wonder if the LBGTQ community encounters problems like harassment, rape, intimidation, and control as well? I suspect that's found within the entertainment industry fairly often, since many actors and entertainers have preferred to "stay in the closet" to further their career... a secret which could give predators a "control" over them. And I suspect those victims would be even more reluctant to openly accuse the predators.

I read that Harvey Weinstein (Hollywood mogul currently in the headlines) went to Europe for treatment of his "sexual addiction"..SO glad his accusers finally caught up with him! But my understanding is that, like pedophilia, it is not actually "curable". It's the POWER they seek over "weaker"victims... not just the sex... which drives the predators.

Almost as guilty as the "Harvey Weinsteins" are the "enablers" who looked the other way, or even worse, helped set the scene for him to get his victims alone! Some were possibly victims themselves, i.e. too intimidated to speak up....even though it's hard to sympathize with their "plight".

Mirela... Your comments were very perceptive. I've often thought about that, since Adam seems to have some very close and longstanding friendships with women. Yes, Adam has no sexual interest in women (although a couple of years ago he admitted to "trying it with a friend...and tequila"!)...but what about those women?...how do they feel?.

One would think that the closest friendship achievable would be between a gay man and a lesbian woman....completely uncomplicated by sexual attraction or competitiveness. It would be interesting to know if there's any truth to that theory.

I've often thought that sex... and the necessary equipment for it... has been the cause of more problems in this world than anything else. Moreover, when you think of it, objectively, it seems badly planned, undignified, and awkward! haha. However, we're
"stuck" with it.....and wouldn't even be here to discuss it.....without it! LOL

The concept of sex seems badly planned but only because we have taken something that was meant to be enjoyed between two people who are in love & once again turned it into something that is just taken for granted & spread around to anyone/everyone ... willing/unwilling .... and changed it from it's original purpose ... procreation!! Over the ages ... humans have made it into something laughable .. instead of beautiful!! The ones among us that have no control over their impulses are the exception to the rule ... not the norm!! Hollywood certainly has made a mockery of love in the true sense of the word!! Debauchery is the sickness that leads to the "sexual assault" ... not the act itself which was meant to (IMO) lead to beauty not EVIL!! JMHO

This hole Harvey Whinestine discussion has made me think about a few incidents in my life and maybe even understand for the first time...
This misuse of their position and power is simply disgusting to say the least but I can't help thinking what drives these actresses to ultimately put their physical and mental well being at risk to "make it"

Adam once posted a article about the pressure of having "too much" sex and "not enough"...I really liked it. I wished we could find a way to not vilify it without ridding it of all sanctity.

Nanbert said...

Marion M... what article was that? I've never heard of it. I'd like to see what he had to say. Do you know how/where to access it?

I think it was this one...I thought Adam tweeted something like "interesting read" with it or something but apparently he only retweeted the article...
