ADAM LAMBERT has made a big impact on South Africa since his days on American Idol having sold over two million albums and 4.2 million singles worldwide. In light of his South African tour, People’s El Broide takes a look back at Adam’s career. After making a name for himself by coming second in the eighth season of American Idol, Adam Lambert pushed himself to be the limit became one of the most successful contestants to date. His debut album “For Your Entertainment” debuted at number three on the Billboard 200 chart, selling 195,000 copies in the US alone. The album has since spawned the smash hit singles “For Your Entertainment,” “Whataya Want From Me?” and “If I Had You.”
In November 2011, Adam took to the stage in the finale at the MTV European Music Awards to sing lead vocals with Queen, who were being awarded with a Lifetime Achievement Award. Roger Taylor commented after that Adam is “a really great performer with an amazing voice.” He later joined Queen on tour and performed with them on their London UK drive as well as in Russia, Ukraine, and Poland.
Adam’s second album “Trespassing” was released in May this years, giving the pop star his first number one album, making him the first openly gay to do so in history, and selling 70,000 copies, which is considerably less than his debut. The album also performed very well internationally charting in all major territories and was met with positive reception from most music critics. The album has already spawned the hit singles “Better Than I Know Myself,” “Never Close Our Eyes,” and the recently released, “Trespassing.”
Adam is performing two shows in South Africa- on November 13th in Cape Town and November 15th in Johannesburg - which promises to be an incredibly visual and vocal performance. It’s no secret that even the most popular Idol contestants can be forgotten and Adam’s hard work, determination and the fact that he remains true to himself is the reason that this runner-up has become an international superstar.
Five Things You Didn’t Know About Adam Lambert:
1- Adam can hold a note for 22 seconds.
2- He is an avid reader.
3- He’s the only American Idol contestant to tour worldwide after releasing his first album.
4- The singer is Jewish.
5- Adam had two tattoos of birds on his chest (*transcribers note: no he doesn’t. lol)

Seems So. Africa is very excited to have our Adam on their shores. Can't wait to see the videos of his performance! Anyone know if Sauli went along? Hope so - it would be great for them to experience this new country together.
Has anyone been able to live stream the concert that should be playing right now!!!!!!!!

Adam's on stage now. Talc ladies are there and will be sending videos via you tube for people who cannot access live stream.
These trips are not vacations so he is there such a short time, no sightseeing. He has said there are several places he'd like to go back to on a leisurely trip...Africa may turn out to be one of them.

The main thing to me is that Adam blows them away with his unmatched talent, he gets more fan's forever! Tho I really must admit I certainly hope some kind person throws some video's our way, nothing and I do mean nothing compares to seeing this, fabulously talented man live. The video's would be the next best thing, so happy Adam is performing at larger ventue's so many more people can get a load of him! Lucky south Africa, you have the creme of the crop on stage there today, you are so fortunate to have him, and he fortunate to have people who appreciate him! I hope Adam just kills it 6 way's to Sunday! Good luck Adam!! Sue.

12:05 -- I'm with you on that. Just hope that all goes extremely well during his 2 shows (Adam converts non-believers of his immense talent at these shows). I still would LOVE to listen to him performing RUNNIN live. Every single time I listen to that song, I want to listen to it again as soon as it ends.

I had the livestream on for hours - just waiting - but they never got it active. What a shame. He did sing Underneath (with tears in his eyes). But I don't think he sang Runnin (it's not on the playlist). A very handsome young guy down front said he was going to take his shirt off for Naked Love!!!
Why wasn't Underneath a single? Everyone seems to love it.
Underneath is my favorite song on the album, but I think it's been held back because a man sings "what a beautiful release, you inside of me."
