Hey I really like this Hold On song; like I've said before, Adam's lower tenor has a mellow and unique tone. This song can be a really super hit! May have a great appeal even to the teens. Maybe Adam could change his strategy a little bit...like release and promote singles more frequently; even if he doesn't want to splurge too much on accompanying videos. Just promote the songs, because songs appeal to different people in myriads of ways, and like this Hold On song, to me it's got hit capacity. Holding on, means something different to everybody and it has a very modern, rockish vibe...a lot of people will like this. Some do not want to buy the whole album / cd; but they choose and buy individual songs. Perhaps this strategy might help with sales too. In the good old days, that was how songs were sold...by frequent releases of singles.

I think the recording business could rejuvenate itself by taking a step back a few decades. We didn't have to wait for albums and of course no videos were available. The studios were releasing singles one after the other...though in reality they weren't really singles, they had an A and a B side so you got two songs. DJ's would introduce new songs every week, we'd head for the record store and buy buy buy.
There was no waiting for a full album to be written and recorded and released.

Please please RCA send out a flood of singles, Adam can sing anything, let him record everything, every song speaks to a different ear, a different heart, let the singles find a home with a variety of listeners. People frequently hear one song on an album and say "No, that's not for me" and dismiss the rest of the songs unheard...not knowing that farther along they may find 5 or 6 they will love.

I am an admirer of Nikka Costa's music so look forward to this collaboration.

I know Adam loves pop and I love his pop songs. This sound is a little more of a rok edge that I love. IMO would hit hard on the radio. Releasing it as a single is a great idea!!!At least release singles overseas if the U.S. won't play him.Although Q102 played etter Than I Know Myself tonight on the takeover!!!

Yes, because Adam has so many beautiful songs but some do not appeal to, for example, the teens etc. so by releasing singles frequently, he'll snatch back a larger piece of the music pie and give those rather vivacious young talents a run for their money...lol!

In general, DJ's, for instance on Top 40 stations, are not given the authority to decide what songs are played on their shows..The playlists are made up by Program Directors and are rigidly followed. Not all stations are like that, but most Top 40 stations do things that way, so we hear. We've had this conversation over and over again. There is also money involved. On many stations, if it isn't on the playlist, or on the official request list, we don't hear it. Sadly. But we never give up asking to hear Adam's music!!!

Calm down..we don't always have to know everything that other people say or do. I don't know that much myself; just gather some quirky stuff from numerology books. It used to be recognised as mathematics in very ancient times, but many numerologists have since used numbers in relation to events / names etc. I addressed it to Timeslot; she is very interested in numbers; not sure about numerology; and rather well-versed at it too. I find numerology fascinating. And it's not solely a Chinese thing; in fact it more or less traced back to the Greeks / Pythagoras, philosopher, mathematician.

This song is brilliant, I love the rock edge to it, I hope it's released as a single.

As far as radio goes, they tend to cater to teenagers because they have a higher percentage of disposable income. You only have to listen to the DJ's on many radio stations with their comments and the games and competitions they play, there all for teensagers. If your older than 19 years and still happen to enjoy current pop music well and good, but here where I live if you want something different you have to tune into the Golden Oldies, or if you prefer Jazz, tune into the station that specializes in a Jazz format. Then if you want music to chill out to, we also have a station for this. We do have a station for mixed music, but as far as Adam goes I rarely hear him except for IIHY or WWFM, nothing from his new album. So I have the impression that radio stations find it hard to know where to place Adam due to their formats, which to me is so sad, if your as talented as Adam but don't quiet fit into a certain box then these formats are ridiculous and very unfair on new talent, making it very hard for them to be heard. My son suggested that the best way to hear my favourite music is to download from Itunes, I can't help feeling that modern technology will kill off radio in the end.

If I had only heard Kickin In, Pop That Lock and Broken English I never would have bought Adam's album, don't like them, don't play them. But I had heard Outlaws of Love, Underneath, Chokehold and others and knew I had to have them and the other jewels so bought Deluxe album and UK as well. Different strokes for different folks.

I don't think it has anything to do with an artists personal life as to whether they get radio play or not, the radio stations all have their own formats and I really think this is the problem, plus they have to run to a profit, so they tend to cater to the majority who happen to be teenagers and therefore will play what the majority want to hear. Adam has a very diverse fan base of all age groups, of course he has a large number of teenage fans too, but maybe not as many as the artists who receive regular airplay, once again teenagers have a higher percentage of disposable income and this seems to be what radio stations are counting on to make a profit.

The beginning sounds like Master Plan.

I don't really agree with the last few posts.
After watching Adam and the radio play or lack of the last 2 years, the only conclusion I can come to as to why they won't play him is because he's so openly gay, there's no reason why NCOE especially wasn't a hit. It fit perfectly with what was on the radio. Had Bruno Mars sang it, it would have been played every hour and reached number 1.
most teens do not have more disposable income than adults, especially people in their 40s whose kids have grown. Plus teens do not 'buy' their music.
And radios may play to the teen market but it is not the teen market that listens to them, its the older demographic.
It would be interesting to see what the listener numbers are today compared to 10 or 15 years ago.

I live in the middle of west Texas, very conservative place and Adam got lots of airplay with all of the singles, except Trespassing. I don't understand the lack of airplay in other parts of the country. Yes we know he is openly gay, but who cares he makes great music.

Why then did radio play IIHY and WWFM and still continue to play these songs. Plus FYE, I've heard these songs played many times and still hear them. If radio stations are refusing to play Adam's music because he is gay then why did they bother to play his first album? Doesn't make sense. As far as Bruno Mars singing NCOE, I really don't think this would have made any difference, the song is what it is, I personally love this song and no one could sing it better than Adam, but it's not for everyone, perhaps they would have been better off choosing other songs from TP, as these may have been more popular. It's really a guessing game as to what will work or will not.

Really like Hold On. Would love to see it released. Interesting comments on this thread. Lots of the same issues we've discussed before, but always fresh and new ways to express our opinions.

Grammy Awards are usually based on the talent and skill of an artist it's not so much about record sales, Adam's vocals are truly the best in the business, and Trespassing is a quality album, Rolling Stone gave it 4 stars, so I'm hoping and praying that finally Adam will receive the recognition he deserves!! I would only WISh Girl On Fire was the it song. Instead of Adam or Alicia, it's "We Are Never EVer Getting Back Together." It's usually followed by Die Young by the non talent Ke$ha, who for reasons unknown to me, Adam seems to love. Every time I get in my car, I am subjected to that song, once every 30 minutes. Yet, Adam's songs? Never. What a shame.
