I wanna hear it, please!
I've been dreaming of Adam showing them how to sing NA & blow them away.

On another site, the topic was james Durbin rocking the NA on Nascar but I didn't like it at all. Show them Adam how to rock it.

Aww, Adam! Kinda made my heart skip a beat seeing these pictures.
A national treasure singing the National Anthem . . . can't wait to hear his version again. I never have any doubt when it comes to Adam and hard songs like the U.S. anthem. It is always a thrill to experience!

What little I heard of Adam it sounded brilliant, but why do american audiences have to be so damn rude, it's great that they love his voice but please show some respect and wait until he's finished singing, then cheer all you like, in fact a standing ovation with applause would be more than worthy for a man with such great talent, but why ruin it by cheering and shouting applause during his performance, and I'm sure I'm not the only one who loves Adam's voice so much it would be heaven just to savour it and hear it without the rude yelling. Bad manners are in my opinion total ignorance.

What is this Broadway Bares?

Anonymous said...

The outfit was not appropriate for the song, boots, scruffy pair of jeans and a shirt??? Nor was it appropriate for the occasion since it covered his whole body.

What was he thinking?

This is a (probably seasoned) NYC/Broadway audience who are cheering and applauding Adam's performance BECAUSE of his incredible voice... I personally feel that the cheers and applause are a validation of his incredible voice and his brilliance as an artist. He is singing The Nation Anthem acapella: no accompaniment. Just the little bit we have heard so far is stunning. Say what you will, but I don't think the accolades he was receiving even before he was finished were actually rude at all, but instead involuntary responses to Adam's voice and mastery of this song. It's a hard song to sing anyway, and to sing it with no accompaniment, the way Adam does, is rather mindblowing. If you have ever heard Adam sing live, in a theater with a fabulous sound system, with Adam's voice surrounding you from every corner of the room, you cannot help but feel those spontaneous and approving sounds (cheers, woohoo's, etc..) coming from your own mouth..and your hands can't help themselves: they MUST clap....... :))

I do certainly agree that I would LOVE to hear the entire performance soon, hopefully by someone who was able to capture it ALL and share it with us....That would be AWESOME!!!

I also have this little secret..(well, not secret now!) hope, that Adam will sing the Star Bangled Banner on July 2nd in San Diego. So very close to the 4th of July ...... that would be so perfect. I'd love to hear him sing it in person. In the meantime, those LUCKY people there in NYC!!!!!

Glitzylady, I disagree totally, the audience was in my opinion extremely rude. Now, I do not need you to jump in like you always seem to do to give me an explanation trying to sway me from my opinion. You sound like a real control freak, if you don't like someone else's right to express their thoughts then for god sake shut-up and scroll on. Adam was having to stop mid stream with the song due to the noise and no matter how much they were blown away by his performance it is totally ignorant and disrespectful not to wait until Adam has completed his performance. The Asian countries have got the right attitude waiting until the performance is finished to cheer and applaud and America could learn a lot from them. Adam himself said in an interview while in Asia how he really appreciated the charm and the elegance (respect) his asian fans show him.

Anonymous said...

Adam has also said of American audiences that they tend to get excited during the performance and while he knows it's coming from a good place it can be a bit distracting, and listening to him singing the NA along with all the racket I can well and truly understand what he meant.

Anonymous said...

Always nice to have a bit of background info, glitzylady. it is acapella and WOW! Nice to see professional singers going nuts for Adam's vocals - reminds me of the Upright Cabaret when people were yelping and throwing their shoes in appreciation of his amazing vocals. Larger scale this but that just makes it better, Not his home turf but they LOVE him.

Adam move to New York. Their glow is rubbing off on you so nice.

Anonymous said...

I just watched the Broadway Bares, Picasso interpretation by gay men spreading paint all over themselves, rub-a-dub-dub. lol! Quite interesting but the rub-a-dub there...perhaps more subtlety would bring out the art portrayal better. lol! Overall, it's not crude or vulgar. Adam should have joined in the fun. lol! Whoa, probably that youtube video will go viral. But probably a discreet move not to. Adam's voice was powerful and so heartfelt and he kept putting his hand to his heart as he sang the NA.

IMO it is rude to applaud or cheer or call out during the N A.
It is a salute and moment of honoring our country. Even at sports events the audience is quiet in respect and waits till end to shout and applaud. Adams Miramar performance would be hard to beat, so simple, no flourishes. I hope this performance is the same, that's not a song you should add ,
what Lam-my refers to frequently as wails, to. Keep it simple.

Anonymous said...

So many times an occasion has been ruined by some singers interpretation of this song. It s not time to show your vocal ability it's time to respect the song and the country.
I hope he doesn't make it an Adam song. No need.

Anonymous said...

Adam knows not to mess around too much with the NA. I hope we get to see the whole thing at some point. He nailed it with power and simplicity. I thought he was dressed just fine. Can't beat that incredible voice. Good to hear that the show is not as crude as some thought and that it does have a message. Award-winning play, right???

One more note on the NA. I live in Chicago, and at Blackhawks hockey games, our NA singer sings a wonderful, rousing rendition of the song while the crowd cheers loud and proud continuously through the whole thing. It's mind-blowing. It's not meant to be disrespectful at all. It's meant to be patriotic. Even the military guests at the games say they think it's great. So, I guess it depends on the place. In many situations it is appropriate to be silent; in others, rousing cheers are just tine, IMO.

DRG (Adam, I love ya!)

Anonymous said...

Adam might be going to broadway

Anonymous said...

Different venues call for different renditions of the NA and for the crowd to cheer for Adam the way they did only shows appreciation for his vocal talent. BTW this was a crowd that was there to celebrate and not watch a serious broadway play.

There are people on this site that can turn ANYTHING and EVERYTHING Adam does, wears or sings something not suitable, crude, wrong, disrespectful, too gay etc. EVEN BEFORE THEY HAVE SEEN THE PERFORMANCE!!!

And here based on a few seconds' vid clips you are again ready to pass judgements... Not dressed for the occasion, my ass! Wait until you have more info (or better yet, seek for more info!) of the CONTEXT and see the whole performance (please, Universe, let there be someone with a perfect vid!), before you slam your verdicts on any part of it, please!!!

Saw a clip where Adam does the military salute and turn in the end. I think he was dressed accordingly to the performance. Like he akways is. He is pro. Trust the Man w the Voice!

The anal person you refer to was probably raised in a generation when the flag and SS Banner were respected with solemn silence and reverence. A different time with different customs. Don't be so judgemental. You're stomping on tradition for some citizens.

Agree wholeheartedly. IMHO it is extremely rude and disrespectful to scream and yell during an artist's performance and that's what happens when Adam sings, no matter where the venue is and what he's singing. It's also extremely rude and disrespectful to other people in the audience who are there to hear Adam sing, not a mob of screamers drowning him out.

If I ever get a chance to see Adam live, I hope people LISTEN to him first and shout and scream afterwards. There are many lovely vids from live gigs but I'm annoyed when people scream every time Adam sings high notes. I'd like to hear his singing. For instance St. Agathe's Aftermath: So beautiful, but people screaming and yelling when Adam is singing.

Is there any other performer currently on the music scene who gets as much comment or criticism as Adam Lambert for anything he does or does not do? It's never enough or too much of something. It ranges from the style and color of his hair, to his current facial hair, to the clothes he wears, the frends he hangs out with, the songs he sings or chooses not to sing, and on and on and on. He can't even sing the NA without a barrage of comments here. Well, at least he is not boring or uninteresting. But I wish there would be more focus on his vocal talent, one of the best in the music business. And, yes, I agree that it is annoying to hear people screaming and yelling during Adam's performances esp. when he is singing those heartfelt ballads. He sings live, not auto-tuned or lip synching as do so many other performers and it is an amazing voice. Count me in if Adam decides to do a Broadway production in the future. That would be something special to see.

Adam will no doubt have no other choice but to go back to theatre, he doesn't seem to keen to produce another album, and I doubt the radio will bother to play his music anyway, his career is on the rocks, better theatre than nothing.

Well I think he is hanging in NYC looking for a Broadway gig. Reportedly producers were interested in him after idol but now he probably needs to remind people who he is.

Anonymous said...

@9:19am. That's why Adam should be an Idol judge. Viewership gloar. Medias all over him. BUZZ BUZZ BUZZ! American Idol will get back its rating. With his last Idol Media Conference, reporters gave him nice applaud at the end.

On this topic, I want to hear Adam's rendition of NA on TV. Must happen soon!

I am quite sure a lot of broadway producer know something of Adam Lambert. It is always good to get yourself out there. What an unbelievable talent Adam is. Many people when interviewed asked Adam if he would do theatre, that people had asked them to ask him. He said he would love to bit it would have to be Edgy and at the right time. I do not think he probably looking for it right now, he was probably asked to do this awhile back. I sure he could certainly get a broadway show if there was what he wanted available and he tried, at this point don't think that why he went to try and a job right now. Sooner or later he will do one and certainly does not hurt to keep his name and talent out there, certainly helps to really showcase that fantastic voice. Would not be surprise he get an offer after that, does not mean he will do it now.

Anonymous said...

Certainly he would be looking for it now. Maybe a job at a tv channel like vh1 or logo as well. He has said he will be looking at opportunities other than music. He obviously has tried for acting gigs but doesn't seem like those have come thru.

I feel that I need to explain myself further since my words above have perhaps been interpreted by some as 1. Me being critical of someone's right to an opinion or 2. Perhaps being disrespectful to our National Anthem myself (NEVER!!) or encouraging others to do so (also never..), or 3. Condoning and encouraging screaming, shouting, and other various ways that our enjoyment and appreciation of Adam's vocals is reduced or disrupted.

More thoughts:

The clips we saw and heard of Adam's performance were all right at the end of the song... So far I haven't seen or heard a full performance. I SUSPECT, but I could be wrong, that the audience MAY have been more quiet until this point in the song, when, because of Adam's vocal prowess, they simply could not contain their admiration and kudos any longer, and being that it was near the end, the crescendo, the final words and highest point, the applause and shouts of praise, the cheers.. erupted throughout the audience. For those familiar with the sound system and acoustics of a theater, I would bet that everyone in the theater could still hear Adam loud and clear...

I do also agree that there are times when Adam is singing his beautiful heartfelt ballads, for instance Soaked, Broken Open, Broken English, Aftermath, etc., that it is very distracting and even rude, to disrupt his clear, pristine, vocals, in concert, with catcalls, screams, the "I LOVE YOU ADAM!!" screeching that we almost always hear, sometimes directly in our ears, that could at least wait until the end of the song.......(That happened to me at the Costa Mesa Fair concert last summer: the girl sitting directly behind me screamed that at Adam frequently during the show...Not cool after about the fifth time.....especially since she was also screaming in my ears. Ugh and ouch...) Although I do have to say that it is often more apparent in videos than it is when in the audience at the actual concert. Usually his voice and his physical presence is so mesmerizing in concert that the other sounds blend into the background.

Please know that I wasn't trying to sway anyone from their own opinion, but was simply expressing my own at 1:41 AM.

Anonymous said...

this performance was sure a surprise!! Love the real fans and Adam.

Anonymous said...

There always has to be someone on this site to point out that Adams career finished. What a downer! If your intention is to ruin others day I wish you would lighten up. The fa t that Adam is not played on radio is one reason radio going nowhere fast. I totally believe in Adam and his amazing talent. So please STFU with your depressing prose. The Dark Side

Let me tell you Adam career is quite strong abroad and he sales very well there. He performed and received awards at several big award shows abroad. In Asia is the biggest from idol. He opened idol china and will do the finale, he done the finale if the voice China. These shows have huge nos. there gonna get who is quite popular there to do these shows.his popularity alone will keep him in the music business. I have young daughters in their thirties who never listen to regular radio anymore just Internet radio. Worldwide Adam us played on Internet radio. Abroad he played on regular radio and Internet radio both. Luckily Adam does not just have to depend on America for sales and radio play. Think on that energy radio station a worldwide station Adam played a lot. He does have a fan base in America of loyal fans, some that go anywhere the man sings. Hopefully he will grow in US even more. Adam is enormously talented and can do numerous things and will even besides pop music. Looks like he will doing Queen soon also. Adam career looks quite promising to me I thank God for his international audience that will keep his career healthy for many years. He fortunate and as worked hard to have a big international fan base and he sales well abroad, that alone will keep him in the music business, quite awhile. Adam is a hugely talented man can do many things other than pop music, and will over the years. I hope is popularity will grow here he does have loyal fans here, but his international popularity is a big key to his success that hardly anyone from idol has. I think he would be unbelievable on Broadway will in te most likely do it. I think the downer stuff mostly come fr pessimistic mean people, who enjoy being that way or from people who past idols who has really not done well, that's not Adams fault. Adam done so much and can't wait for new Queen performances. The reason Adam just received the Glaad award not just because if the work in the community but because he continues to be one if the best saler's internationally this is a part of why he will cont. to be successful in the music business international sales are good, he has a large international fan base. There are always up and downs in music business but Adam can do many things and has a bright future in my opinion.

Lol is that Sue spewing forth again?

Adam would be incredibly lucky to get a decent role on Broadway. He is very limited in the kind of role he would be considered for. Big, well produced and financed shows are looking for Neil Patrick Harris and Jesse Tyler Feguson, not Adam.

glitzylady said...

Okay, I take back what I said about perhaps the audience was quiet during most of his performance. :))) But after listening to this partial performance just posted above, how could anyone NOT be in awe of his vocal magnificence.. And not let Adam know how they feel.. You can feel free to disagree with my opinion, but I suspect I'd be one of those cheering him on... Although in reality I can rarely even BREATHE during his live performances, much less utter a sound....Because I don't want to miss one note, one word that he sings.. The emotional response to Adam and his voice...and the song...had to be overwhelming. And the show's theme was a tribute to all of the 50 states, so the song was part of the "theme" as well. And who could sing it better than Adam Lambert??!!!! He is definitely one of the few who can truly do it justice (again, IMO). A capella no less....

Anonymous said...

That's not a full version of the song that 12:27 posted, it's the last half of the song.

This was a hugely successful rather campy fundraising show not the opening of a solemn occasion so I have no idea why people would expect silence during the national anthem in this case.

Take no notice Glitzy, we love your comments.

Glitzylady, get real most of those people in the audience would have been drinking way before the show, they sounded like a noisy drunken crowd. Anyone who thinks anything of Adam would have to agree it's sad to see him performing under these conditions, it reminded me of one of those old music halls, where the crowd either cheers like mad or throws rotten tomatoes if they don't like it. Adam needs to rise above this and get some better gigs, where people will appreciate him.

Anonymous said...

Can it 2:12! Glitzylady has bent over backwards to explain herself even though her first post was quite polite and did nothing more than express a different opinion than yours. As for the audience being rude, you have a lot of nerve calling anyone else rude.

That's where your wrong, Glitzylady puts up a good pretence of making out she is simply explaining things as she sees it, however, she fails to realise that people have different opinions and they don't always agree with her and sadly she can't seem to handle that. She has a habit of constantly jumping in to prove her point while making out she is only trying to help, I seriously think she has a problem. If she wants to give useful information then that's fine but she cannot seem to handle different points of view no matter how politely they may be expressed.

I want to expose you...you are the dimwit/pseudo who has trailed me for over two years on this site. And also the same dimwit/pseudo who keeps lashing out trying to diminish Adam. You asked me to explain 'phase' that Adam is going through but I wanted your tuition fee upfront first; and now you follow me here talking about 'phase' again because you can't figure it out yourself, lol! Okay, I feel more generous after a good night's slumber so I'd give you a hint, not going to explain because I want you to use a bit of your brain at least. The hint I'm referring to which might help you understand the 'phase' meaning I used is...think of the phases of the moon from crescent moon to full moon, same moon but different phases! Got it? Still no?Actually, I'm spoon-feeding already.

I'm sorry Lammy, you are perhaps barking at the right tree (2:45) in this thread, but your text was about and due to my post in an earlier thread... And I'm NOT 2:45 or anyone else who has trailed you...so please post your negative ranting to the right person for the right reasons... I'm NOT your pseudo/dimwit...

I was just puzzled and surprised by your earlier post cause when I read it, it gave the impression that you too were negative about Adam doing what he is doing now... you called it a phase that would soon change... I call it Adam being Adam and taking care of his business like he always does.
I apologize to you, I was not trying to diss you in any way, just wondered about your text. I have no need for tuition nor for snarkyness and I repeat I'm NOT 2:45!!!

I can't put my thoughts in writing as eloquently and with sophisticated & complicated words as you, English is not my native language. Maybe that's something you could remember in the future... there are lots of Broken English people on this site (not just Finns, lol) and misunderstandings happen... However, I own my mistakes and I've apologized, hope you'll accept it. I won't bother you from now on.

I'm sure @2:45 is somewhere lurking and laughing her/his ass off!

Okay, that means the dimwit/pseudo who stalks me, used your comment to target at me. Goodness gracious, he/she can't even think up an original question, lol! Now you know why I call him/her dimwit. Not only that he/she is very pretentious / pseudo! And he/she is indeed 2:45... this part, I'm not mistaken. The fault lies with the dimwit/pseudo who quoted your comment. With regard to my use of the word, phase, it does not pertain just to Adam; each one of us goes through different phases of our lives eg. adolescence, adulthood...these are phases / stages of our lives. So that's why your question pointing out to me, Adam being gay all his life, sounded pretty odd to me; we all know that. Anyway, Thank you! for clarifying and also apologising. Don't let one misunderstanding stop you from asking me questions or responding to my comments. No harm done; continue talking to me; I like your forthright style. :)

@Lammy
Thank you for your answer.
I did not mean 'being gay all his life', that's a given (I'm all for equality, just wish THAT was a given and not something anyone has to fight for) - meant Adam is Adam in every sense of the expression, he embraces life, people, 'job opportunities' (= all kinds of possibilities to do what he loves most, i.e. sing, perform & entertain), everything with full force and enthusiasm, and I find it so inspiring... I'm was, still am so gutted by the attitudes shown in these threads... So frustrating. Somehow thought these 'issues' were bygones at least among fans, even the media has moved on...

Again, sorry if I can't make myself understood the way I try to... but I mean well, lol.

I have said it so many times and now again to you! Get this through your thick skull once and for all...It does not matter to me if it's one or many who think whatever they want about me! I only expose a certain dimwit/pseudo who feels so intimidated, and often suddenly strikes for no rhyme or reason; like the above extremely rude words at 2:45.
On the other hand, I appreciate and enjoy a lot, chatting with those really nice people, many have said they like my comments, stories and poems. And that is so nice of them to take the time to tell me. Amongst others, the latest beautiful words to me were really impressive..."e pluribus unum" from atm. I had no idea what it meant but when I looked it up...Wow! And lots of others which I have saved and will remember fondly.
Bottomline is, it does not matter how many dislike me because those who enjoy my company compensate more than enough; quite a number and that is good enough for me.
And you in particular has trailed me for over two years and you! are the same person who lashes out on Adam. That much I know and I'm not the least bit perturbed by your extreme rudeness and even at times resorting to lies and in the above case, quote somebody's comment...as if you can't even come up with something original. I'm referring to the dimwit/pseudo and if you say you are not him/her...I say if the cap fits wear it otherwise discard it. In any case the dimwit/pseudo will read it.
