The VMAs have a history of push-the-envelope performances. It was broadcast on cable TV. I guess I don't know why everyone is so surprised. Apparently, Adam wasn't. Was the performance meant for younger children to see? NO. Should parents have sense enough to know at least something about the performances on the VMAs? YES. They are not the Grammys. Did I like Miley's act? No. But my opinion is based more on how I feel about her voice and her personality. I don't like either one. She could have been very toned down, and I wouldn't have liked it either. Miley got what she wanted: a lot of media buzz. Adam never said that he actually liked the act. He just said she was having fun and don't take it too seriously. She will not suffer AT ALL from doing this. It's all to the good for her. She'll sell her millions again, no problem.

We will see how this affects Miley long term. Just because she will get notoriety in the short term does not mean she will be asked back to perform in the short term. It's a bigger issue that that: do we really want that in our living rooms???? I was offended, but I was just watching to see Adam as a presenter. Do I really need to have to endure that? If Miley wants to be a porn star, that's her choice. She's on her way already. But don't do it on TV.

I hope most of you are not parents of teenagers because a lot of twerking goes at school dances and sometimes much worse things go on. It can get so bad that I have turned the lights on and stopped the dance. So let's be real because you may not have enjoyed Miley's performance and I thought it was a mess but it is nothing new to most kids. Miley was trying so hard to be grown up but I blame the producers and also Robin Thicke for allowing her to show such disrespect for herself.

GMT, Good point. I do agree with you. The producers of the show knew exactly what Miley's act was going to be. She had to have rehearsed it. It was seen by the bosses and the staff. And THEY allowed it to go on. They must have figured it was ok. Ha. They do have some if not all the responsibility for what gets put on the show.

Miley achieved worldwide full on media attention. Even the likes of other top selling artists got clear left in the dust at the VMA's compared to the attention Miley received.
