One of my favorite track. Every time I listen to it I replay it again.

Love this song. Wonder why he tweeted it out today. It has an Island feel,is that a hint he signed to Island Records? Probably nothing to do with that but one can hope. Maybe he just loves the song like we do and it has no hidden meaning at all!

Hidden agenda or not, I want this song to get LOT OF HITS. It's a sultry, sexy, lovely song with incredible lyrics and a grat melody. Love for it to got viral. Keep playing it, fans! maybe Adam does mean to be giving us a message!

Adam is so full of surprises and I love how he does this, gets us to wondering what's happening. I really DO think he sent it out "with purpose".

I'm going with the Island Records (record company/label) theory, because it makes sense:

It's the same label Queen is under, it's headquartered in New York City, and we know he just spent time there, and it makes perfect sense to me. The "island" feel of the song certainly could be a very direct connection to an announcement of a new label for him. And he's obviously DYING to tell us about it (or SOMETHING) but he's playing "By The Rules" and waiting to tell us until the "official" announcement is made by the record company. Or whatever else it is....

Ultimately we'll find out! Until then, we'll continue to speculate away, just like we all do :)) .. I think he tweeted it with a specific idea in mind..... Because he does that.. Those little hints that he drops from time to time. And it goes along with his last few tweets. He's definitely got some BIG news to share but can't just yet.

And then again, we could all be wrong :))

I agree with Glitzylady. There is something big in his bag that he can't wait to make it public in relation to his career and this also relates to his latest tweets. His is playing it by the rules or their rules until the right time for big annoncement.

But then again, I'd be happy if Adam was back with Sauli (there I said it...)... if it happened. And was meant to be. They seemed so good together.. But I don't want to assume that the song "clue" had anything to do with that. Because that's his personal life and not my place to speculate on it....

So... still guessing it's a hint about a record deal...Which would be AWESOME!!!

But whatever it turns out to be (perhaps multiple amazing and wonderful things happening for him right now...) I also am ultimately hoping Adam is happy in both his professional and personal life and wishing GREAT things for him in 2014. And beyond..

The song is about a bad love affair that didnt work out. It's about astrology. The rules of the universe. . It is not about sauli. It was the only song that he wouldn't talk about when he was launching trespassing. He said the inspiration was a secret.

It is also not the kind of thing that he would tweet at 2 am in an attempt to hint about a record deal. That is wishful thinking and makes no sense at all.

I believe he has some major Music or label info coming, and cannot reveal it yet. I don't think this song reflects on that, this , IF it has any hidden meaning or not , refers to his personal life.

He also tweeted this same song a month ago, the same night he tweeted himself in a tux but we don't know where he went. The same night Taylor tweeted pictures from a fancy dinner but didnt say what it was or who he was with. And adam liked those pictures. Just coincidence? Why is he dragging out this old bonus track now twice in one month?

I think adam has been signed but not by a major label. Certainly not island. More likely a decent sized indie. Lots headquartered in NYC. Like Mom and Pop records. He was listening and tweeting about some of their releases earlier which made me think of them. People shouldn't get their expectations up so high. Certainly he seems to have a plan for getting music out this year.

If Adam has signed with a record label, they should announce it at the end of the month to coincide with his birthday. That would be a wonderful gift for Adam to celebrate his 32nd. An then more info about a new album would be even better.

Why not have high expectations?? Isn't that what we always wish for those we admire and support?

I'll be happy with whatever Adam choses to do, whichever label he goes with, whatever it is, whether a "big" label or a smaller indy label, because I have faith that he'll make the choice based on what is best for him and his vision for his future in the music business. And definitely hoping the label he goes with is supportive of his vision as well. And willing to got the extra mile for him by promoting his music to the max.

Wishing the best for him is what we do as fans. :))

I prefer a professional angle of an Island label because of the song's vibe with its a compelling personal clue, the dynamic of lamb (him) and lion (label). It could be his musings about his first love (music=life) and its business component (by which rules he now plays and exists in symbiosis). Adam has signed, but the rules or contract require that the fact be made known at the right time.

You may be right, he certainly did not want to go by the rules of RCA, who wanted him to do covers. I think he has found a way to have more freedom, to control at least part of his future. Also to branch out into other fields as the opportunity presents it self. I haven't ruled out this might also be about his personal life, as well. He seems over the top happy.

It's too competitive to get a major label these days and adam hasn't been successful enough. David cook, who has done better in the US than adam, will produce his own album and partner with a label to distribute it. Doesn't sound like David will have the money to try for a radio push. Thinking adam will get on a big label with big promotion and money is just crazy, and coming from the same people who were so sure he would be an Idol judge and so sure LMD would be a single.

Even his tweets about being his own small business seem to indicate something similar to what david is doing.

If by Taylor you people are referring to Taylor Green, you are just grasping at straws. Once and for all, Taylor Green is straight! Not every dancer in the world is gay, though I guess for some that's a stereotype that can't be let go. He's from my area. People who have gone to school with him, have known him for a long time know he is straight. Tommy is straight also. Why can't some of you let go of the fantasies? Tommy is straight. Taylor is bi. He has said so on more than one occasion.

When adam first met Taylor he said in an interview he was seeing someone who was questioning his sexuality. Taylor was only 19. I'm sure he identified as straight in high school.

Adam certanly knows how to give his fans entertainmend! It's so much fun! He sure didn't tweet that without a meaning! He has already said so much about new music that I don't think this has anything to do with that...this is about his personal life and somehow I think that so many songs on trespassing is about his life with Sauli, so why would he bring song of that era of his life to point on a new love..

I'm with those who want to dream big things for Adam, however it may go. If there was justice in the world of show business (ha) he'd be with a major label selling millions. But, talent aside, he's just too different for the mainstream to accept. Those in the business realize how great he is, but the public just doesn't.

So, I pray for a good label that can get his music on the radio and get it heard. I hope he can keep his presence on TV in some way, whether it's Glee or something else. Maybe they'll be film or stage in the future. We know he's a niche, not an arena-filler. I love him regardless. He is liked and respected by big music figures, which is a lucky thing. He has networked well. I don't think he'll fade into oblivion. I just think he'll have a different kind of career then JB or the like.

As for the hidden messages in his tweets, I'm a hopeless romantic. If it has to do with his love life, that's very cool. If he's happy, I'm happy about it. I dream big about Adam, because that's what I do as a fan. (Actually, if he did get back with Saul, ((there, I said it, too)) it would probably be a result of them coming back together as different people with a new understanding of their relationship. Not like the whirlwind it was when they first met.)

The main thing is a LABEL, major or indie or SOMETHING that will get his new music out there for all to love.

Shoshana has just tweeted that she's been playing "lion" for or with the Lambert and anticipating a conference call re: the RULES of the label or contracts for Adam's career. It's playing out less and less a traditional love angle, and more a professional love one. Fun spelunking, yeah!

We always speculate about Adam's career and personal life and it always turns out to be something totally different.

I doubt his tweet about By The Rules is related to his personal life and I definitely think it is about his MAJOR career takes in 2014.

He is too excited about it but he has to wait for the right time to announce it publicly.

Nothing about shoshannastone tweet indicated it had anything to do with adam. She said lions was a made up game. She has a little boy, she was probably playing with him and now has to change into business mode for a phone call.

Adam tweeted the pic of him in a tux but then we saw it a week or two later in China. He was probably getting a fitting. No big secret.

I cannot imagine that Adam didn't learn a valuable lesson with Sauli. He was an open book with his feeling that came back to bite him in the ass. I am one if those who am not a Sauli supporter and see him as grabbing the main chance and moving away when he got what he wanted. Adam will announce his intentions when he can. I am amazed that someone with his talent has to worry about putting out music. We live in a mediocre world, mores the pity!

I heard the rumors during GNT. ...I know what some are referring to regarding that time.. We've all heard them. Anyone thinking that tweet in any way connects to label news is just dumb. And over invested in Adams career to the point that they don't think logically.

And the only people who I see on twitter speculating about it are the same group who think every thing is a clue about some major thing just over the horizon that is going to suddenly skyrocket adam to fame. It's just sad. Kinda funny, but ultimately sad.

Fans are typically hopeful, supportive, and wish the best for Adam. We aren't "stupid" nor do we automatically believe everything we hear, just because someone else said it..On twitter or anywhere else.

Nor do we believe it just because we WANT to believe it. That's called "fan fiction". There are those out there who do live in that "world" of make believe, but most Adam Lambert fans live in the real world, at least the ones I know, and know quite a few. We don't live in a world full of unicorns and rainbows either..

The majority of us know this label rumor is purely speculation (and yes, wishful thinking, because we wish Adam the very best, always..and we've been waiting for the official word) until Adam or a label announces something official. It's fun. Too bad there are those who need to mock others in order to get their own feel-good moments, at the expense of others.

He was on GNT; he is Adam's friend, though they rarely see each other since Adam is busy with his career and Taylor is all over the U.S. and in some cases out of the U.S. dancing in various productions. He tweets about his gigs all the time. He also tweets about women all the time.

Since there are no rules in love and war, I think that Adam has signed with a new label, but that his contractual agreement with RCA stipulated that he could not sign with a new label for a period of time. The length of time, who knows. He dropped RCA in mid July and if that timetable was 6 months, then we'll hear something in 2-3 days. We all know that Adam has learned many things about the entertainment business since the AMA's. My mind wonders where he would be now without that fiasco. Thanks be that he has now learned to play by the rules.

By The Rules can be interpreted in so many different ways. Romantic or otherwise. Like he interpreted NCOE differently, so my interpretation is that we (his fans) are like lava, waves of the sea, lions, thunder. Just take a look at the comments above as an example. We explode with every little thing he does. We are his ecstasy. He says: in waves I can feel you, you're my ecstasy. He sees waves of people at his concerts. He gets that adrenaline rush on stage when he sees waves of people. I relate this to his line of career which is to entertain us. But there are certain rules that is associated in his line of small business that he has to follow. As much as he doesn't like to be ruled but there are certain guidelines he has to follow so all stars are aligned again so he can feel the warmth of lava, roar of lions, thunder, waves of sea. His ecstasy to perform on stage.

Surely it's significant that it's in caps. And Monday of this week, right after coming back from New York, he tweets that 2014 is gonna be major. He's been pretty tight-lipped about his love life as of late, yet his seeming happiness MAY mean things are good in that area also. Would love to see him back with Sauli (yup, I said it!).

I interpret it as when we go to his concerts and he sees waves of people cheering and roaring for him and then concerts ends at some point. Doesn't it? He doesn't see the thunder, lava, waves, etc. until another time, another concert. Right?

Songs can be interpreted in so many different ways. There isn't one way interpretation. That's a beauty of a great song. Adam interprets his own songs totally different either on his music videos or when he performs them live.

Well the general consensus on twitter is that its label news, possibly Island records because of the reggae vibe, and that he's playing by the rules by not spilling anything yet....
And by the way, I believe both Avicii and Queen are with Island records.....maybe they had a quiet word in the bosses ear about this great friend of theirs:)
