It’s been another record breaking weekend for the Glastonbury Festival, as initial tickets were all snapped up within just 25 minutes of going on sale yesterday morning (October 5th).

The hour-and-a-half which it took tickets for last June’s event to sell-out was considered an extraordinary achievement in itself, especially when in context with the struggles of many other festivals in the current climate, and bearing in mind Glastonbury’s own financial turbulence of 2008. Yet the renaissance it has enjoyed since then scaled new heights yesterday, with around 135,000 tickets gobbled up almost immediately.
“We’re humbled by the incredible numbers of people who would like to come to the Festival – and it’s clear that demand once again outstripped supply this year,” a statement posted on the Glastonbury website reads.
“We’re sorry that some of you have missed out, but there will be a resale of returned tickets in the spring (and your registration remains valid for future years). Thank you all for your never-ending support for our Festival.”
Fleetwood Mac, AC/DC, Muse, Kate Bush and Oasis are some of the early favourites to headline Worthy Farm in 2015, while a new name was added to the list during the weekend in the form of Queen (or more accurately Brian May and Roger Taylor with singer Adam Lambert).
