Adam Lambert, 'Glee' and more: Who does the best version of 'Somebody to Love'?

Adam Lambert as legendary rock band Queen's stand-in lead singer has been a thing for quite some time now. The "American Idol" alum has even gone on a "Queen with Adam Lambert" tour. While no one expects for Lambert to be able to take the place of Freddie Mercury -- the band's original, larger-than-life singer -- it seems that Lambert has gotten comfortable as Queen's new frontman.
On Tuesday (Dec. 2) Lambert and Queen took the stage to perform "Somebody to Love" on the UK's
"X Factor." Lambert puts his own vocal twist on the song, which got
Zap2it wondering about other famous people that have given "Somebody to Love" a spin.

Thanks for updating the link. :)
Adam is winning in the poll (no brainer, huh!).
I don't know who will win but it is pretty flattering that site made a poll about it.
Well I voted obediently and lo and behold...Adam got 87% and the rest less than 10%...What kind of vote is this...That means no need to vote. lol!
Okay, Adam+Queen's 'Somebody To Love' is unbeatable; arrangement, Queen band, excellent chorus and of course Adam's very high quality / difficult performance indeed.
I don't think this poll means anything in the real world.
Just voted and Adam has 88% I wonder if only Glamberts are voting LOL!
I didn't vote, simply because Adam didn't really do that much. He asks his fans to donate to several charities. There are other celebrities who actually get out there and do something. Adam takes a few seconds to tweet about donating . I am glad he does that much, and I assume it does help some causes, but I don't think he should be winning any polls for it.
10:18 ummmm what? You are getting way ahead in your whining.
@Anon 10:38 PM
Anon 10:18 PM didn't whine.
There are some Glamberts so quick to judge others harshly, including other Glamberts and for no reason whatsoever. :(((
Just a reminder....
The article and poll are about "who does the best version of "Somebody To Love", not about which celebrity does the most for charity..
George Michael comes in a very close second. I still remember that performance from the tribute concert.

Agree I always thought that was a magnificent tribute to Freddie and watched it live in England. I always loved George's voice but now of course I bow down to Adam Lambert. Absolutely spot on and beautiful in voice, his stage presence and of course his beautiful face.
It seems since people don't have to put out their names the folks are getting snarky. More people are putting their comments now I guess they were intimidated before.
Adam is the only one in complete control of the song. He practically twirled or straightened it, the way he wanted it sung; especially the difficult ooooh note, only he projected it with so much power and beauty.
I'm not putting out my name because I just want to comment
, if I use my google account . .it's more steps because others use my computer . .then we got the robot . .then you leave a comment and it's takes 4 more steps to leave site.
BTW . . love you Brian and Roger
take care of out Baby over there!
Watched them all . . . No contest . . is it me or does Brian's guitar playing give you that "Adam affect" in your heart like when Adam sings.
BTW . .Roger was a hottie in his day . .
Just so you know; you can only vote once; strict guylines; which makes the pole results more meaningful.
Just for the OT poster: Adam does a lot for charity and other causes; and he probably does a lot we don't even know about. Sounds like bitter grapes for someone who is apparently a fan of others! Sorry, just had to say it, tired of hearing from Adam put me downs on his fan sites, that don't know what they are talking about!
Yep, Roger sure was a hottie. He looked so gorgeous (as a girl) in the "I Want To Break Free" video. :-D
Marc Martel does a great version of Somebody To Love. It was his audition song for the Queen Extravaganza tour. I guess Brian and Roger wouldn't have chosen him as lead singer for the tour if they didn't think he was suitable.
Now I'll be screamed up for daring to mention Marc Martel.
6:58 AM, not by me. Marc does have an amazing voice. There shouldn't be a problem with saying that. Obviously Roger approved or he wouldn't have cast Marc in that role.
*surprised* Lol, is this actually happening, or am I jumping the gun? I can't believe the Marc Martel fans are trying to come here and stir things up! I can understand on any other general forum, but on an Adam site... Lololololol Silly people. Must not have anything better to do? (I honestly don't even get why someone would go through the effort!) Assuming that stirring the pot is the only motive here... Maybe I missed something, lol.
@6:58 Not screamed up, but maybe laughed up, hahaha! XD
@You realize that just because Adam doesn't show off or publicly acknowledge any charity work he might go out and do, that doesn't mean he doesn't do it... Right?
@10:18, that is. Don't understand how Adam doing charity relates to how well he sings Somebody to Love, either...

Adam made a hell of a lot of money for make a wish awhile back performing and grating wishes. It take all day to say what he done and its not all just getting his fans to contribute. But that's a big part of what an artist dies for charity. I am quite sure he gives his fair share as well. He just doesn't talk about it like some do.
I believe MM went to the Queen concert in Ny read an article with h saying the guy Adam Queen had working for him now is the best singer in the world today. He never missed a note, a word, and his range ect. It was in an on line article.
I know nothing about this man he in the tribute band for Queen so I am sure he a good singer . He himself brought great praise to Adam.
Fronting Queen in huge Serena's night after night and being Ad not trying to irate Freddie is a whole different ball game. It's very difficult and Adam done a fantastic job of it. I wrote dies instead of does above correction. Sue
Correction that was performing in arenas. That darn auto correct. As of charity like I said there so many fee free performances I could not mention them. He performed for Niles Rodger for chairity, Cindy L, so many more. Lets not for get performing in Kiev for thre hundred thousand people fee free with Queem and EJ. All giving there time and most likely money as well to fight aids. He done so much for chairity. But, what a crazy great performance iof STL. His vocals and charisma on X Factor And the concerts are just out if this world. He just owned that performance period.
That was three hundred thousand people in Kiev. Sue
8:09 am, yes you missed something. That Adam fans can also compliment another singer and shouldn't be afraid to do so because of idiots like you.

No name calling of fellow fans, please!
For an Adam Lambert fan site this place sometimes is a very peculiar one... Here you are "NOT allowed" to adore/love Adam and only Adam without someone jumping on you or calling you names.
And if you dare to say someone else (e.g. Bruno Mars, Gaga, Katy Perry or whoever) is not your cup of tea, you get jumped on for that too. Or someone says "why do you need to put others down to uplift Adam"....
I tell it straight that Adam is my clear #1 Champion, in a league of his own. That's not putting anyone else down.
I've always enjoyed listening to various kinds of music & artists, but no one else fills my heart, head and soul the way Adam does! No one else has kept me mesmerized for almost 6 years, have not followed anyone else's career this intensely, gotta have that daily doseof AFL... No one else interests me this much. Just a fact of my life. Peace.
5:18 STFU for once !!!

Having PMS?
@1:09 Oh, so I'm an idiot for trying be be more light-hearted and laughing about it rather than "screaming them up" like they said? I never said anything about their opinion being wrong or that they couldn't praise another singer. In fact, I too agreed with the sentiment about Martel, but it was more the "screaming up" comment that annoyed me if anything. If I missed something or misjudged the posters intentions, then I'm fine admitting I got it wrong--But that's why I said "if stirring the pot is the only intention." The reason I interpretted the post that way was because of prior comments on this blog & also comments by certain viscious Martel fans on related articles & videos that I had read/watched just before. I also did not yet read the response just above mine since I was busy writing mine. So I took it in that context (apparently the wrong one) and of course my first thought was "Oh no, not here too!" So I tried to laugh it off and ward any mean Martel fans away somehow. I was not trying to bully or supress any opinions or imply that people can ONLY like Adam--Not at all my intention. So yeah, I got it wrong, and I'm sorry if my response came off all wrong. But you don't have to call me an idiot! I just misunderstood what was going on. Just saying "No, you missed the point" would suffice & I'd get it.
Sheesh, sometimes this place feels like everybody comes here to vent, lol. Stressful day at work for some, maybe. And definitely me right now, hahaha.
But for reals, sometimes I feel like fights start here not because of any real threats or bad intentions, but because misunderstandings arise from the difficulty in trying to interpret the tone or intention of an opinion or comment from just text! Whew! *wipes sweat off brow*
Sorry guys,
-8:09
@8:57 aka 8:09
I'm not 1:09, but believe me dear, you have nothing to apologize, you are definitely one of the good natured, sane posters here. You are so right about the lightheartedness (difficulty and lack of it mostly imo) and about the venting.... And then some just want to be nasty, their sole purpose of being on blogosphere. :(
8:09am
Yep, if you mention another artist on this blog, the wrath is upon you from a great height as per your comment. Hey, it's OK to like other artists as well as Adam. There is absolutely no law against that. If you don't like that, fine - that's your business but don't criticize others who casually mention another artist. Adam is fabulous - we all know that. That's why where here. And it's not a crime to mention other artists here although the paranoid think so.
By the way, this thread isn't about Adam's charity work. It's about voting on a Somebody To Love poll as per the title of this thread.
^
That should be 'we're here' not 'where here'.
Both George Michael and Marc Martel, both singers of Somebody To Love, have been mentioned here. So what and why so prickly about Marc Martel? He's not Adam but he sings Queen's songs well. If he didn't sing them well, he wouldn't been contracted to Queen Extravaganza. No big deal and no slight against Adam.
@4:19
Exaggerating much? I've never seen any wrath upon anyone here from mentioning or liking other artists. But coming here to gush about other artists AND belittling Adam or saying they are better than Adam can cause some sort of an uproar, after all most here are Adam fans and this is his fan site. If I loved someone more or thought they are better than Adam, I would go to their fan site and support those artists.
What is really odd that if you dare to say here that Adam is better than some other artist/singer, immediately someone here (Adam fan or whoever?) starts accusing you of putting the other artist down or worrying about how somebody coming here would be offended or fans of these other artists would get upset and other such pc crap. Where the hell are you allowed to gush and shout it from the roof tops that ADAM LAMBERT IS SIMPLY THE BEST, BETTER THAN ALL THE REST, if not on his own fan site. FLAILING for your FAVORITE is part of every fandom!
Fanaticism is creepy and scary. Appreciation is understandable but it is possible to like several artists at once.
Based on these 5-6 years following Adam's career I would say most of his long time fans feel something much more than mere liking and admiration. Being his fan is "a total package experience", just like the man himself. :)))
To me following Adam's career is much more fun, there's much more passion than in the casual liking I feel for so many other artists. That is because of the persona of Adam, the multitalented & multifaceted character that he is. And his SINGING & VOICE, there just is something that separates him. Period.
I have a lot of music from hundreds of artists and from various decades and genres. Always been a music lover. Never a fanatic (in anything), not regarding Adam either.
