Thirty years after their historic and record breaking opening night performance at the very first Rock in Rio festival in January 1985, Queen are to return to top the bill for the opening of this year's 30th Anniversary festival, performing with Adam Lambert as main stage headliners Friday September 18.
The Rock in Rio date is one of six arena and stadium dates Queen + Adam Lambert will perform across South America during September. In addition to three concerts in Brazil (Rio, Sao Paulo and Porto Alegre), Queen + Adam Lambert will also perform in Argentina and Chile (Buenos Aires, Cordoba, and Santiago).
The South America dates are the latest leg in a series of sold out concerts across the world which in just over a year have seen Queen + Adam Lambert perform 67 shows already North America, Asia, Australia and Europe.

Didn't realize until now that this will be on my anniversary. Should have made my husband take me.
Wow views on Ghost Town over 22,000,000 .
Rock in Rio will be epic! A real milestone for both Queen and Adam. Can't wait.
Been Spotifying Ghost Town. That song is the gift that just keeps on giving!
This seems like a tour in itself...Mmm, love Adam with Brian May, such a synergistic duo, in sync with Queen band; the best I've heard in recent times. They are meticulous to the last note. Queen, basically Rock...I call it cosmic and with Adam, they bring back the era of superb Pop when the singers actually sing! Perhaps, that's one reason I simply love QAL to the core. But it's only recently, I found out how great Queen and Freddie were in their prime, their compositions! Thanks to Adam...so forget about those shoes Adam is supposed to fill. lwl!
I like the way Adam sings into Brian's face...as if to say: Hey Brian, this is for your brain! lol!
Thanks AdminFan... for the, Sing it to his face! photo.
One of my early QAL poems...when many were skeptical about Adam fronting Queen.
The massive dome-shaped veil draping majestically
Over the Queen stage
Lifted up in a dramatic pull, off the cage
Revealing Adam the formidable Queen Frontman
Red-gloved hand thrust in the air
The other clutching his golden microphone
Ready to churn up his voracious appetite and tone
The vociferous crowd had waited in long queues
For new QAL to spin and spew
'One Vision' takes the floor
Valiant Queen, their repertoire to explore
With Adam's vocals to match, roar for roar
Human cords verses Brian's Red guitar
Never seen such explicit live drama
Even though it's a depiction of the 70's
The crowds' spirit soars...Freddie alive once more
As his diehard fans applaud, implore
Will they accept Adam as their new Frontman
Some tolerate, others embrace their new tete-a-tete
Adam has no intention whatsoever to replicate
Perhaps it's time to celebrate QAL, on a new-found slate

"Thirty years after their historic and record breaking opening night performance at the very first Rock in Rio festival in January 1985, Queen are to return to top the bill..."
That means QAL would be Queen's second historic Rock In Rio, because it's a brand-new Frontman...Mmm, I think Freddie's spirit is alive and well to steer QAL to this extravaganza.
But can't grasp, that in mere 6 years after their historic Rock In Rio...Freddie was no more; I think Queen is one helluva lucky Rock band, to have found such a close substitute in Adam! to carry on and keep their legacy alive. Maybe there's more to it than just luck, they come across as downright honest people with real talents.

Doesn't feel like Ghost Town
More like a happy town
Someone mentioned that Adam
Be introduced as the Ghost Town singer
Quite a ringer, like ghost town buster
I predict Another Lonely Night may even do better
With Adam's shimmering countertenor
And slated colourful video of skaters, wrestlers, transgenders
Ahh, perhaps Adam deliberately wants to employ
His motley friends to do the honours
To bring diversity into the arena
Like he says: The Original High is personal
