I liked the GT production from the Gala, the props were actually very simple but embodied the tone of the song. What elevated this for me was the accompanying dance number - over a dozen dancers in black ensembles who did what I considered the best choreography to GT. The dance was very fluid, the dancers were beautiful and the synchronicity of the group movements quite perfect.
Since Adam was so recently arrived in Beijing, not sure of how much time he had for input, or if the Chinese were just able to put it together in record time, in any case it was a very polished performance! Of course Adam was his usual perfect!
