Somehow, Adam Lambert didn't win the eighth season of American Idol. But nevertheless, the singer has proven that he's truly winning with one of the most impressive track records post-show. Lambert has acted as the Queen frontman, scored a recurring role in Glee and dropped two well-received albums. Sophomore release Trespassing went to No. 1 on the Billboard 200, making him the first openly gay artist to top the charts, in what was a major moment in LGBTQ history. Perhaps most importantly, Lambert has made sure to use his voice for good: He's inspired his Glamperts to donate more than one million dollars to charities to date, and he's been one of the first artists to confidently bring a gay perspective to mainstream culture.

Well, so much for the "stigma" of being on a singing competition show. There are some big names on this list who are rarely if ever associated with their stint on a show like that. But there are still plenty of people who think that contestants on AI and similar shows are automatically inferior talents. Well, say that to Justin Timberlake, etc. It's just an absurdly inaccurate assumption.
I have a question. Because this is AI's final season, there have been some re-caps lately about AI alums and their various careers. Adam is considered one of the most successful, of course. Others have gone on as singers, actors, TV talk personalities, entrepreneurs, etc.
As an Adam fan, I am thrilled with his solo tour and his building of an international fan base. So,please help me with this. Who of the AI alums actually does solo singing tours of any notable size? Certainly, KC has for years and still does (when she's not having her sweet babies). Does Carrie tour solo or just with a other country acts? I'm assuming Daughtry tours solo, right? (BTW, I really like him!) What kinds of venues does he fill? Are there other AI alums who perform solo in fairly good-sized venues? Obviously, I'm trying to place Adam in perspective along with others from the show. Do any other alums other than Kelly do foreign tours? I realize that it's all about who you follow. If I was a diehard David Cooke fan, I'd know his every move, his every show. But I don't, so I'm just curious. Anybody know much about the solo singing careers of the other AI alums? I know that some of them perform all the time, but WHERE? What kinds of venues? It's interesting to me that Adam is the only Idol who shows up on those non-Idol related celebrity polls that we all vote on. AI has produced some great talents. I know many of them have found their niche of success. Just curious about those who are still singing for a living and where Adam stands in the mix.
