4. Ongoing Conspiracy Theories

Voting controversies have been an all-too-familiar thorn in Idol's side over the years, stemming all the way back to season two's Clay Aiken/Ruben Studdard match-up (spurred by a rare on-air flub from Ryan Seacrest, in which he offered three differing figures on the voting gap between the ultimate winner and runner-up).

The following season, fans attempting to vote in the competition between Fantasia Barrino and Diana DeGarmo complained of overloaded phone systems that made it impossible to vote. And in 2009, when Kris Allen upset Adam Lambert for the season nine crown, reports surfaced regarding Idol viewing parties in Allen's home state of Arkansas, in which AT&T employees reportedly taught fans how to "power vote" for their hometown hero. The buzzed-about controversy even earned a Jimmy Fallon-coined nickname: "TextGate."

'TextGate' lol! didn't know about this coinage though commented quite a bit on the 'clandestine movenemt'. lol!
Actually, on the surface, it appears legal as people have a right to boost their voting camp. The irregularity stems from the fact that the persons involved were also involved in the final tabulation/announcement of the results of S8; so there lies the suspicion/attempt to thwart the true outcome.
The extract/article stated quite clearly it also happened in S2. I still think Clay Aiken was the better more powerful singer. There was a little outcry but not as loudly as when Adam suffered the same fate because it was really obvious something happened under the table covered by a long tablecloth, without any sort of probing.
And then the ship started sinking; as the mast was torn and could not capture the wind to move it.
The most outstanding part of this S8 saga was not TextGate per-se to me. It was how happy Adam was to see his dear friend/competitor win the S8 crown. At first, I thought Adam was just trying to shield his disappointment but till today, Adam has not said anything about TextGate. lwl!

I wish this could be dropped. Digging these things up are futile. Adam is a winner in every way.......he's moved forward, I wish the scandal mongers could.

To be honest, the voting controversy was always difficult to discuss by those of us fans who loved (and continue to love!!) Adam and we wanted so badly for him to be recognized for his MASSIVE talents and abilities, but sadly this crazy result happened in some way or another..

Adam was and is the best of the best, no doubt about it.. Different time, different place.. Would the result have been different now?? I believe it would have, but at this point it's moot. And doesn't matter...

It was always shocking to most people that Adam came in second. I mean WHAT??!!?? I don't think this piece was meant to open up that wound but simply reviewed some of the controversies that have happened over the years..

Adam has certainly had the last laugh in so many ways, but he's always the gentleman when it comes to his handling of the situation.. both then and now. And is always so gracious and kind in his comments about Kris's win and his own ultimate triumph at staying in the competition and being wildly successful in the ensuing years..

It's the end of an era, and I'm just SO PROUD!!! of Adam and all of the MANY things he's accomplished: on the American Idol show, Season 8, in the years since, and I KNOW his star will continue to shine and will rise with ever increasing brilliance in the years to come..

All we need to know is this:

ADAM LAMBERT IS the WINNER!!!!

Cooking the books is a shame
Not once, not twice, again and again
What does it gain
To win the whole world
But loses one's soul
My poem is not directed at AI
In fact they have given me much joy
Especially Adam, his stupendous voice
Rather at a couple of so-called honest people
Who I suspect also enjoy cooking the books
Without mentioning names
Stop or it may land you in hot soup oooh-la-la
