When I compare Adam's present singing in terms of style/execution/expertise with the S15 Finale alumni singers who I have followed when they were on Idol...I notice a stark difference. Adam has gone way ahead and almost reinvented himself while the AI alumni singers seem to be singing more or less the same style as they did when they were on Idol. In short, these alumni/some winners, though excellent singers, stagnated. One person I think hit her optimum, Jennifer Hudson; and a couple others.
By hook or by crook, they should have got Adam on the Finale, if not in person, on screen. He is the epitome of AI, Sifu.

@LAM-MY, 100%, you are right! They should have been creative and somehow have gotten Adam on that last show! Adam was the true aficionado of American Idol talent. That is why he was chosen to judge a few times. I had just said to a fellow Glambert today during a phone conversation that they should have taped a wonderful video of Adam in Toronto. It would only have to have been about one minute where he could state his honour and thankfulness to the platform of American Idol, and his regrets that he could not be there to celebrate on the finale due to the new adaptation of Rocky Horror Picture show being filmed. Or, even better, AI could have shown the video of Adam performing David Bowie's Let's Dance on his TOH tour. Maybe, even perhaps an excerpt of Adam's performance of Queen's We Are The Champions. AI really blew it! The David Bowie tribute that they chose to present was HORRIBLE! What a shame that the greatest entertainer that AI ever produced was not a part of the farewell show. Well, all regrets now aside, I am happy that Trent Harmon won! What a voice and what a beautiful young man Trent is. I will follow his future career. I will be breathlessly awaiting the Rocky Horror picture show around October, 2016, with our Adam. Margarita Lady

Whoa! Margarita Lady... Those are wonderful ideas to include Adam in the AI Grand Finale. Somehow I feel it may have boiled down to business. Remember, Adam severed ties with the affiliated recording arm of AI, when asked to do a covers album. But he wanted to forge his own identity and create his own music...could be just one of the reasons. It always boils down to money, how much the singer benefited AI; business is like that.
But you and I see it from the point of view of artistic talents and expertise and Adam is the epitome of AI in that regard. The very fact he can sing the same song in so many ways and revive old ones better than the original, is phenomenal.
I only heard Trent Harmon at the Finale; yea he has a powerful, unique voice...wishing him the best!
Again, I have to lament...Adam lost his Crown...now he loses his Finale. Just a screen recording of him would have included him in.
Thank goodness his Original High and Queen tours are doing sooo well; and Rocky Horrors is a lot more lucrative that appearing on AI.
