You're so right, Outlaw! Adam has yet to get a mega-hit in the US. I read somehow recently that a number of BIG-NAME legendary bands and/or solo artists didn't get their breakthrough hit until they had put out six or seven albums. Hope it doesn't take Adam that long. Maybe it will be album #4 for him. The boy is on a roll!
Enlighten me, I'm not very knowledgeable about these awards. Is it for a certain number of albums or songs sold... or streamed... or played on the radio... or what?
Is this Platinum Record for Adam from Poland for a SONG?.. or for an ALBUM?.. or simply that they love him so much that they want to honor him (like a key to the city, or somesuch)?
In other words.... what is the criteria for a platinum record -- how is it measured? I keep seeing that a record went Gold.. or Platinum, or x2(?).
I have been assuming that there are certain criteria for these "awards". Would someone please enlighten me about what it is?
It's for an album. "The Original High" went Platinum and it means that over 20 000 copies were sold in Poland. Gold is for 10 000 copies and diamond for 100 000. Of course that's only in Poland. Different countries have different requirements.
Thanks, Lucy Noir, that's so helpful. But how does one find out what the criteria is in other countries when he wins more. I've read he's already won several... in different countries.
I hope he sells a zillion--- the more Glamberts, the better! When we ALL get together we can make the world a better place....right?
No problem. Hmm... I'm not sure if I understand your question. These record sales awards are the way to measure album's popularity in the country. Every country has a different number of sales. For example to get Platinum album in US you have to sell more than 1 000 000 copies. It's simply because there are more people living in US than in Poland. If you want to know more, check "Music recording sales certification" on Wikipedia.
And yes, "The Original High" went Platinum in Poland and Russia. Also, singles can be also certified and for example "Ghost Town" went double Platinum in Sweden, Poland and Australia, triple Platinum in Netherlands, Platinum in Denmark and Gold in US and Germany.
