Regarding Padang / Malay word for field, (pronounced Pardarng), it holds deep WWII history; the field in front of City Hall where the British surrendered Singapore to the Japanese...woe betide, all hell broke loose for Singapore. Then, at the same place, 3+ years later when the tides changed, the Japanese surrendered Singapore back to the British after the dropping of the Atomic bombs by the Americans on Hiroshima, Nagasaki. Now, Adam and Queen come to perform their songs of love and peace and you bet, there will be myriad Japanese lapping up the Grand Prix and Concerts.
