"As the giants of classic rock contemplate retirement, music execs are dreaming up increasingly bold new ways to eke value out of their brands, images, and back catalogs"

EXCERPT from the in-depth article: Queen + Adam Lambert mention
" ...Queen are a rare example of a band that’s managed to find a new audience on the road decades after the death of their frontman. They’ve been gigging with Adam Lambert for nearly 10 years, but it was in 2019, after the release of the biopic Bohemian Rhapsody, that keyboardist Spike Edney started to notice something incredible. “People were lustily singing along to every song that was in the movie,” he told Rolling Stone in 2019, “and looking blankly during every song that wasn’t.”
The movie grossed nearly a billion dollars worldwide..." “...And then you’re hearing their music in all these other places because there’s a big uptick in licensing and sync requests. With Queen, you’ve got songs that are instantly recognizable. You have a compelling story. And credit where credit is due, they just nailed it.”"

Great article!
Yes it is a great article. There is just no denying Adam was key to bringing back Queen. It can't be said often enough.
The whole QAL thing is quite rare in music. I know some vintage bands just keep on going, but Queen got a huge rebirth with Adam. And the love and excitement is a big as it ever was. Good article.
Queen returned better than ever with Adam....what a comeback! That article was "right on". Wish they'd squeeze a few concerts in before their scheduled 2022 tour. None of us are getting any younger!
Queen had already given up on touring and there came Adam on American idol TGFG.
Don’t think they came back ‘better than ever’ because they were one of the best bands ever with Freddie, but certainly Adam has given them new life for the past 10 plus years, thank God they were on American Idol as the band during the final !! otherwise none of us would have had the utter pleasure of seeing the amazing Adam !! I so hope they go on for at least a couple more years.
Unknown they toured for 5 years with Paul Rogers as lead singer, but agree having Adam’s fronting the band has been the most incredible comeback !!
They didn't come back "better." They came back every bit as good, just different in a a good way. No comparing to Freddie, of course. Adam gave them a spark and raised them through the roof once again.

Dee R Gee and Angeladam....."Better than ever" is perhaps not the best choice (I was quoting that from a couple of recent articles I read)."Bigger"...and more extravagant.... is probably more accurate, since QAL has "moved up" to and sold out bigger venues than ever....especially since the movie.
Probably, among fans, it's a toss-up as which is better....Queen or QAL. I personally prefer QAL, since I much prefer Adam's voice to Freddie's....a personal taste sort of thing....just as I can understand that many feel the opposite.
Also, QAL, over the years, has progressively enlarged and enhanced its staging, lighting, special effects, etc. to become an enormous visual extravaganza as well as an auditory one.
Nanbert agree !
So, is my little AFL pocket calendar correct? Is that Andrew Lloyd Webber Cinderella album release coming on June 25? That's what I have written down. Adam has a song on it. Can't wait to hear it, whenever it comes out. And the Obamaa' We The People is coming on July 4 and Adam has a song about the Bill of Rights, I think. So there are some good things to looks forward to!
And the Brit LGBT Awards are August 27. I have to believe that Adam will be involved in some way??
Thanks for the reminders, Dee R Gee.... Hurray! More AFL "things" to look forward to!
