The German magazine Stern interviewed Adam Lambert, published in June 2022 when Queen + Adam Lambert performed in the cities of Berlin, Cologne and Munich. The original article is in German and the publication's website has a firewall (won't let you proceed unless you pay) anyway, so we are presenting the translated version that was posted on the website Imgur. We extend our appreciation to our friend and Adam superfan Gelly for pointing us in the right direction! (Note: most of the translation on Imgur is literal word for word so grammar and word usage in English might be a tad off.)
Have you ever thought about how much longer you want to tour with Queen?
"I didn't think it would (last this long). The fact that ten years later we're still touring is very surprising to me. ... It makes me feel like I have a purpose. It also financed a house! (laughs)"

There are other singers out there who could have become Queen's new frontman and they could have sung the songs just fine. But Adam has all the other ingredients that make it all work perfectly. Brian and Roger knew it from the moment they saw him. There couldn't have been a better match.
Dee, I agree there are other singers who could have sung SOME/MANY of Queen's songs just fine, but Queen's documentary "The Show Must Go On: The Queen and Adam Lambert Story" made it abundantly clear that ONLY Adam has the voice, range and vocal dexterity to handle the huge variety of genres encompassed by Queen's catalogue of music. Added to that, of course, is Adam's flamboyance, sense of style, sense of humor....and all around entertaining and attractive personality. Besides, they really like him, and find it fun to tour with him.
In other words, Adam is PERFECT with Queen. Brian said he can handle anything they throw at him.
Brian just posted that they are doing more behind-the-scenes filming so it looks like there is another QAL documentary in the works! Sure hope so!
I live thirty miles from Highland Park.
Indeed, Dee — just created new post on this exciting project!
And I am so sorry you were so close to this tragic event. Devastating.
