IMO many people missing the point...

Think target market. My understanding is this magazine caters to affluent, mostly hetero males. As a female and/or gay man, we look at this and focus on Adam (yes he is hot and makes my heart pitter patter). BUT, the target audience, I think, will focus on the female, a nude hot woman.

So here's the question: if you are a hetero male will you wish you were the guy in the photos with that hot woman? And if the answer is yes, will you then wonder who the lucky guy is to be with that sexy female. And if the answer is yes, will you wonder "who is that guy" (like us women are wondering who is that woman). And then will you learn more about that guy. Then will that peak your interest to listen to his music.

If that brings more audience into the Adam fold then this promo is a brilliant strategy. If not, well his fans already know he likes to change it up and push buttons. I for one don't mind and don't think he is going to far. But in the end, don't forget who the target audience for this magazine is!

As soon as I learned what the target market was for this magazine as well as the fact that he was posing with a female model, that is exactly what came into my head. I must admit it is a very smart strategy haha. It perfectly reflects the saying "Woman want to be WITH him, and guys want to BE him!"

In my opinion the chipped nail polish was on purpose. The model has the black polished nails in homage to Adam, just as his fans wear it. His nails are only partially polished black but natural too.
