Adam Lambert's 'If I Had You' jumps up on Canadian charts

This week on the Billboard charts, Adam Lambert does not see any major movement. However, there are a few small things that the "American Idol" singer certainly has to be proud of.

The first thing to look at is the re-entry of "If I Had You" into the Canadian Hot 100 following a one-week absence. The song is now sitting a #88, which is its highest point on the chart (or any chart) so far during its brief run. Since we still do no even have a music video for the song yet, the odds are certainly in Adam's favor this the single will continue to find its way up the charts, including here in America.

Meanwhile, "Whataya Want From Me" is celebrating its 25th week on the American Hot 100. Although this song is now at #40 (five spots lower than its previous position, the face that it is nearly half a year on the chart is an accomplishment in itself.

I can't get my Texas radio station to play IIHY. Anyone else having this problem. They say they like it but won't play it??? Any suggestions on what else I can do. I live in the area so no problem there. DJ is really nice and supportive, but they don't play.

I would like to add some optimistic comments, but I'm getting a little antsy about this too... In a Boston suburb, sorta close to Providence, get both cities stations, and they played WWFM pretty early on (and are still fabulous about playing it even now actually) and seem quite supportive of Lambert, but aren't playing it. I've actually had supportive responses from DJ's via email if you can even believe that - but it's all the program directors and all that business. Well, I'm still staying positive - I do think it will work out, but I'm getting antsy. (and as I've blogged here before, and I probably shouldn't repeat myself or you guys are gonna kill me, but I just can't help it, it really irritates me when I'm starting to hear that Enrique Iglasias song which is sooo not great, and IIHY is not getting played. Shouldn't be critizing other artists, cuz it's the radio stations deal, but it's really annoying). Well anyway, I will keep requesting. In the meantime, opportunities like Open House Party and Ryan Seacrest's American Top 5, where we fans atually can exert a little power, we should be doing! We should make sure we are giving VH1's posted page for Lambert lots of hits and running his videos there and at MTV in a seperate window when we're on the computer... stuff like that where we do have a little tiny bit of control. Sorry to be so longwinded!

It's a touchy situation. If we are perceived as pushing too hard, flooding with requests/voting or mentioning the play time of other artists, they get irritated and he doesn't get played. If we say nothing, we are perceived as unsupportive. Just trying to keep it real and honest and give it time. It just may be that he is not going to have mass appeal and maybe that is one thing that is kind of special about loving him so much!! Just rambling thoughts...don't scream at me! !

God, I love that picture and what he did with the makeup that night - he is a palette of gorgeous!!

Hey Anon @ 2:02pm June 10th - actually, I hear 'ya. I've blogged before the same sort of thing - it just may be indeed that he won't have wide ranging mass appeal... and 'ya know, from all that I've read/seen from his own mouth (and that's a lot, lol) I think he'd be okay with that, as long as he gets to be the sort of artist he wants to be. It's very obvious that he wants longevity and large scale success, but he's a realist too and I applaud him for that as much as anything else. I mean, does, say, Michael Buble have massively huge wide ranging appeal, probably not, and he's doing great! Lambert is special, for sure, but he can't be forced down anybody's throat, nor, it occurs to me, would he want to be. It just may be that he evloves into a bit of a niche artist, but it will be BIG niche, and he'll have a great career I think because I truly believe acting on stage and screen is in his future as well. Just food for thought - no hate please :)

I got a way to solve this problem..Adam needs to do a IHY "you think it's over" edition..so everyone can hear and see a newer version, taste, outlook, of Adam after the Aftermath...

Some thoughts-we are seeing the death of the music biz in the traditional sense-the interwebs and itunes have changed how music and musicians are being promoted for pretty much ever. Radio, while it's still important, is also a dying medium.

I get the feeling though, that Adam is going to do just fine-he's incredibly talented, unique and has not only a terrific stage presence, but is so warm, charming and personable to both the fans and the media. And the Glam fans are hella important. Thanks to fan sites like this we can keep connected, and support our favorite Idol. Gaga, even if you love her or hate her has been incredibly smart-she loves her fans and has a very strong connection with them, and I feel Adam is the same way. Gaga has succeeded in spite of the media, and now they are following her. (I mean, her album went DIAMOND, fer goddsakes.) Adam has the chance to become a big star on an international scale.

Give Adam some time, and I am sure he is going to totally dazzle us. So keep requesting, keep pestering, keep talking, emailing, keep BUYING.

Anon 3:08 - I'd like Adam forced down MY throat!

Oh Adam Fix - why did I KNOW someone would respond with that when I originally typed it :)... probably why I didn't change my wording, ha ha, it was a little experiment to see if someone would :). And why did I have a sneaking suspicion it would be you! (I'm the one who has commented back at you a little bit recently about our less than squeaky clean minds lately lol). Funny. It's all good. Love AL's voice so incredibly much, and totally dig his particular brand of music...but the extra icing on the already delicious cake can be appreciated as well without embarrassment IMHO. :)

time is key. he will do fine.

Anon. 7:31 - Oh jeez, you totally called me out! You pegged me. I guess it's true...our dirty minds think alike. Well, what can you do when you're obsessed with this beautiful man, and thoughts like this pop in your head and out through your fingers before you can stop them? ;)

What's your "name", by the way?

Fans need to get out of the mindset of requesting "once per day". You should be requesting "once per DJ". And buy a copy of IIHY from iTunes. "Let's blow this sh*t up".
