Adam Lambert is known for his love of "playing dress-up," and on his first solo concert trek, this summer's Glam Nation Tour, he's been able to indulge his not-so-inner diva like never before, taking the stage resplendent in peacocky plumage, T. Rex top hats, venus-in-fur coats, leather, lace...and, as he did Tuesday, July 27 at his first of two homecoming shows in Southern California, bindhis. Lots and lots of bindhis. Yep, Gwen Stefani ain't got nothing on Glambert.
Glamming it up is obviously a crucial process of Adam's concert tour experience, so I was tickled glittery-pink to get a chance to interview the Glamerican Idol while he was actually undergoing his transformation in his makeup chair (a Reality Rocks--and Adam Lambert--first!). I mean, what better setting for his pre-show interview? There, in his dressing room at Costa Mesa's Pacific Coast Amphitheatre, I watched as--under the expert hands of "America's Next Top model" makeup guri Sutan--Adam gradually morphed from his natural, minimally made-up day look to the kohl-eyed rhinestone-rocker-by-night we all know and love.
And, being a superb multi-tasker, Adam also managed to discuss his ever-evolving persona, his pre-performance rituals, Glam Nation audience behavior, and his upcoming second album (out in spring 2011!!), all while getting cosmetically spackled.

Did I hear that Adam was actually going to do the new album or major parts of it in Europe?
How many performers would be that relaxed and generous to allow an interview while preparing for a concert, especially while being made up.He's so real,unaffected and low maintenance! Sutan never missed a beat applying the makeup to Adam's ever animated face. How can anyone be so lovable all of the time? I just want to hug the daylights out of him! OMG-smart, funny, gorgeous, ..... lalalalal on and on!! Just never stops with this incredible guy. Looks like he is taking great care of himself, so sensitive to the audience and his future, taking each moment as important and fun. Watched the Oprah rerun yesterday and his resolutions for 2010 are amazingly on track. Besides being achingly adorable and superbly talented, he is SO inspiring!!

I agree. What so many people don't see about Adam is that he's NOT a narcicisstic, go-crazy exhibionist. He creates a PERSONA and is good enough at it ("good" seems so weak) that a lotta people think that's who he is. The REALLY cool thing about him is his boyish charm turning into his Sex God Persona on stage. I love it!
Okay Adam Fix - since you said it first... that's the thing I've been going through lately...
I NEED to kiss him... 'ya know how, in life, there's this lesson that everyone needs to learn, about how there's things that you want and then there's things you need - well I NEEEEEEED to kiss him... just once :).

Rememer the song "I Want To Kiss You All Over" - Well, that about sums it up for me. Start at his feet- he has very sexy feet and Toes!! Yeah - I would like to start there and then.......Sorry - can't say the rest of it!
And his mouth...At one time, I thoughta he musta had lip injections, 'cos his mouth is so perfect. Now I think it's juat part of his perfection.

Just want to watch and listen. His personality intrigues the voyeur in me. I actually play a thread of his interviews as my "ambient" sound while at work. His voice, the cadence or sound of it seriously slows my heart rate, makes me focus and I'm more productive than ever.

Anon at 9:23, I'm impressed you found something that you can listen to at work that keeps you more calm, focused, and productive. You know we're all gonna try it, regardless of how crazy it might sound. It must be that Adam's wonderful vibes permeate the space and your cells! Heathy!
And yes, Adam Fix, I've thought the same thing.....wanting a Harry Potter invisibility cape + the wizard ability to apparate and disapparate so I can be near him. (Plus time travel so I can go to his Idol shows, Fantasy Springs, etc.) Let's keep wishing until it comes true!
