Patrick Lynn is the producer of American Idol and on Thursday he spent a good portion of his early morning hours on a ladder directing crowd shots during AI’s rehearsals for Season 10 at AT&T Park. And he thought back to two years ago when he was doing the same thing at the Cow Palace across town.

“Literally, all Idols start in this crowd,” Lynn said. “Adam Lambert was one of these guys,” he said as he waved his hand over the throng. “We recognized him around the end of this first day.

“You know Adam is really tall and we had heard there was some guy who had done Broadway stuff and he was pretty good. Of course, when it came to the second round we were told to keep an eye out for him.

“I remember talking to him after the second round and asking him about the play “Wicked” that he was in and he was just a super cool guy then.”

Of course, Lambert went on to finish second in Season 8 and Lynn is back continuing the AI beat.

The producer is right. :) I like all of the IDOL producers like to reference Adam in interviews to promote the new season.

They didn't reference the people from season 9 lol.

In the interviews that Adam has done, he gives credit to being on IDOL and where he is now. He needed that exposure to an audience to get his name and talent out there. Even though he came in second, Adam Lambert probably is enjoying more success than Kris Allen right now. I also believe that Adam set the bar so high for contestants on the show during Season 8 that no one will even come close to him with that voice. Overall viewing of AI has decreased and with all the hoopla about who will replace Simon, people tend to forget it should be about the contestants and what they have to offer. I am just glad that Adam had his chance to prove what he can do and that his fans can now enjoy this charismatic, edgy, talented performer.

interesting to know that AI producer knew the talent of adam during the audition but still came second best but never mind adam as the last laugh.

I still think it was Adams choice not to make a big deal of the voting mess. He is a class act that is why. It was not Kris fault either so it is a win win situation for everyone. Idol looked a liitle foolish, however Adam,Kris, etc got what they wanted out of the deal and no one got hurt. Things happen for a reason. We as fans took over with our support and love for Adam and the rest is history. His fans with their passion;support and love of his music turned this puppy around for sure.

I love it. This guy’s bills get paid because he knows talent. These kid were out there because they believe they have talent. It ‘s like Adam is the universal symbol for talent.

Did you read article about Adam "Idol worship for glam god Adam" written by Lauren Corter in Boston Herald!
I think this is the best article ever written about Adam!
Just one think I am completely desagree.
Now we have only one Ultimate Rock God-Freddie Mercury (you can Google it)and one King of Rock-Elvis. However, Adam doesn't sing just rock.I think you Glamberts will agree that when we talk about Adam we never mention him only as a rock singer.
But, anyway, I was really happy that somebody finaly wrote about Adams achivimenets!

I so totally remember Paula and Randy's comments to Adam after he sand at his interview. I thought it before they said it, but it was refreshing to have someone echo so quickly what just went through your own head. I live not far from San Fran and heard about the auditions that happened last Thurs. I sure hope Idol is better this year. Maybe they will find someone almost as good as Adam, cause they will never find one as good IMHO.
