Adam Lambert announced in an interview at a press conference held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on October 14 that he just filmed a video for the It Gets Better Project. The video will be coming out very shortly. Here's what Adam had to say:

"I think that my message to the youth of the US and of the world is that you should be proud of who you are. And I know that it's hard. Someone like me, I'm supposedly successful, and I'm still bullied in a sense, by certain groups, by certain journalists in a way, and also by the general public."

With an increase in recent gay teen suicides, journalist and sex advice columnist Dan Savage founded the It Gets Better Project in September 2010 "as a unique way for supporters everywhere to tell LGBT Youth that - it gets better" Participants are encouraged to make videos to gay youth sharing stories of how they overcame bullies, showing them that life really does get better in the future. Videos for the It Gets Better Project are uploaded on the project's YouTube channel. Some celebrities that have already posted videos include Neil Patrick Harris, Ellen DeGeneres, Kathy Griffin and musicians Ke$ha, Jason Derulo.

Although there is no word yet as to when exactly Lambert's video will be posted, keep an eye on the project's YouTube channel!

Awesome Adamluv - thanks for telling me, appreciate it, thoughtful of you. That's great. Man, Joel's speech/vid was amazing wasn't it?! Extremely bittersweet, but ultimately hopeful if one chooses to see it that way (hard to do that, but necessary I suppose). Mr. Burns sorta restores one's faith in humanity doesn't he?!! A brave man. Thanks again for the info (and not so OT for this thread :))

You know that old saying "they threw away the mold" once you were born? Well, that's Adam.

How many people do you know can let down their guard regardless of consequence and just be honest?

What a role model -- period.

He admits to feeling like a "ugly duckling" as a child. Being afraid to tell anyone he was gay. Taking solace in his musical abilities for validation and happiness.

Who better to lead the way into encouraging gay youth that "it gets better"? His mom once said in an interview "Adam inspires people".

His video will do just that. Adam has a way of awakening your inner self.

He will be the GLAM "Wizard of Oz" and show the gay youth the RIGHT path to follow!!

Bullying is actual everywhere. It just so happens that is more so for the gay community. You're being teased if you look different from others, you're on the heavy side, you're an ugly duckling. Few years back a girl from B.C. was being bullied to death by her schoolmates because she looks ugly to them. Sad :((
I don't want to preach but disciplining your children should start from home and must be the parents priority! Don't leave it to the teachers.

I love Dan Savage - he's from Seattle, where I live, and he is a fierce and intellegent advocate for gay rights (and we love him for it). I am SO excited Adam is doing one of these video spots - his absence would be noticable, and he is such a beacon because he prioritizes positivity and love above negativity and censorship.

I am very thankful to Dan for doing this video series and I really, really hope it helps the youth of this world. The message is a strong one for any teen who feels "different" (they don't even need to be gay). But in a way, I find the message so sad...just put up with all the awful bullying and torment in your life right now because you really have no choice! Yes, it will get better, but in the meantime, the bullies get away with their BS and you just need to suffer through it.

When, oh when, will the tables be turned? When will people go after the bullies and make it stop, rather than telling the victims that they just need to soldier on and take the abuse? Makes me want to cry.

@MGF- thank you so much for the Joel Burns link. I am not aware but if there is no law against bullying yet, could be OT but don't you think it is about time to come up with one now that the situation is worsening?

@Anon at 7:54pm- just couldn't agree with you more. Children who were raised well will never resort to bullying. Yes, parents must go out of their ways to instill moral values in the formative years of their children. Some amount of discipline will surely go a long way. We are all responsible in making this world a decent place to live in and we must do our parts with conviction. School administrations should also be obligated to ensure the safety of their students specially when parents of victims seek their assistance. They've got to address this social problem which has been going on for years. They just couldn't watch parents bury their young ones. This has to stop!

@Adam Fix- the predicament is really deplorable.

It helps that many of Adam's songs are about hope and empowerment. The special message he has prepared would surely serve as an inspiration to those who feel different and unhappy about themselves.

The Joel Burns video was fantastic. What a brave fine man. I cried through the whole speech. Thank you again MGF. Sadly I read some of the comments and lost hope of humaity again. Perhaps some of them were just trolls, but even so, it´s upsetting that some people has such screwed up values and finds it ok to spew them out on Internet.

With regard to the message from Adam Fix. I think the It Gets Better Videos can help the victims in different ways. For one thing, just the fact that every one is now talking about bullies makes the bully very uncool. If everyone speaks up, former victims and people who are not going to let the bullies get away with it, the bullies just might get their due.

We have Stand Up to Cancer. Why not Stand Up to Bullies. Teach your children to befriend the child who might be having a difficult time. Raise your children to be brave and not look the other way. There is always strength in numbers. If you see a person who looks vulnerable, stand next to them. If you see bullying, don't turn away. If we all do something, maybe we won't need these videos.
But for now, at least the videos prove people do care and perhaps the victim can find someone to turn to for help, and feel less lonely.

But I agree with Adam Fix, no one should be expected to withstand abuse for years until it gets better.

Well said Adam Fix and nancdruuu2 (sigh).

and @Eva - I never read any comments cuz I just watched the vid live on a cable news show I like, and then rewatched on this particular cable guy's site, I never watched it on the you tube link - heavy sigh, were there really negatives comments left there? Ugh... I mean - I can understand someone believing what they want to for themselves and even their immediate family - but to leave a negative comment to that Joel Burns vid - I can't even imagine... heavier sigh. Well, I'll take a page from those people's book and do things differently with my kids, I promise them that!

Kids that stand around and watch someone being bullied are just as quilty as the bully! Until the bystanders start speaking up thus isolating the bullies, nothing will change. How very sad. Adamluv

Sorry, it should have been- they couldn't just watch......

Adam is such a great person I wish people could see the good in others and not focus on the gay issue as if they are not human beings or as if they chose it. It makes me so sad and I want to cry when I think of all the Moms out there who have to worry day in and day out about their child because of this issue. People be kind...to each other and remember someone son or daughter just needs to know that others care. We need to stop this hate and not accept this in our society. We are better than that we can't stand by and just let these things happen we have to get real and help oneanother now!!
