Adam Lambert Opens Up to E! for His Very Own "E! True Hollywood Special"

E! TRUE HOLLYWOOD STORY: ADAM LAMBERT

Adam Lambert has traveled far since his days as a freckle faced, red-headed kid playing "Linus" in his school production of You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown. Along the way, he's pushed boundaries, reinvented glam-rock and transformed himself into a universal sex symbol. The most beloved runner-up in American Idol history shares his journey to stardom in his own words in the upcoming E! True Hollywood Story, set to premiere November 21st at 9:00 PM, ET/PT.
Also sitting down with E! are Lambert's mother, Leila; father, Eber; brother, Neil; close friends and widely respected music journalists Anne Powers and Vanessa Grigoriadis. Lambert's family shares intimate anecdotes from the pop star's childhood in North San Diego County. "I'm very fortunate to have parents that recognized that I was different and recognized how I was special. They didn't ever try to box me in," says Lambert. The singer also divulges wild stories from his days performing in various musical theater gigs on cruise ships and throughout Europe. He explains, "I was exploring my sexuality a lot more aggressively. I was living a rock star lifestyle. I tried a lot of things - it was a big eye-opener for me." Lambert also tells E! the revelation he experienced while attending the Burning Man festival in the Nevada desert that landed him at American Idol auditions in San Francisco. American Idol judge Randy Jackson shares with E! his recollections of that fateful day when he heard Lambert's Idol audition - "I was like 'Oh my God- I've been looking for this guy, where has this guy been?" To the shock of many, Lambert did not walk away the winner of the popular singing competition, losing to Kris Allen in the final vote. This new E! True Hollywood Story examines the speculation surrounding the Idol results and Lambert's reaction to being a runner-up.
Also chronicled in the one-hour program are the emotional and controversial milestones in Lambert's personal life. From how he told his parents that he was gay, to the release of potentially damaging photos of him kissing an ex-boyfriend during the height of the American Idol craze, to his Rolling Stone magazine cover story and his highly criticized American Music Awards performance, Lambert reveals all. Says the singer, "My fans have been really supportive of my choice to be open and upfront about my sexuality and my lifestyle. I have come from the belief that hiding something from people and manipulating what they think of you is far more offensive and disrespectful than just being upfront and being who you are."

my eyes will be glued to the TV when the program is on. Sounds like it is going to be grrreat.
I for one cannot wait. Will, no must find a way to make a copy of this show so I can watch it when I want to. Totally inept when it comes to recording anything. Hope E also celebrates the fantastic voice and showmanship of Adam. Guess, we will just have to wait and see. So it's a choice between AMA's and Adam, Gee what will I watch??? Adam, of course, screw AMA's in triplicate!!!

Just thought I'd share...So I went on Yahoo to search for the AMA's to verify the broadcast time/date, and to my amazement, they just can't leave Adam alone. Scroll to the bottom of this List of Nominees and lo and behold, a smear of Adam's last year's AMA performance. I swear, they will NEVER let it go will they!! FU AMA's!

What do you mean "a smear", well actually, scratch that, what I don't understand is from whom exactly is the smear coming? I truly don't even want to follow the link and check it out personallhy, I just don't even want to know all the details, I just want to stay away, but could someone post from whom the smear actually comes specifically - is there a rant or ugliness from an official AMA (or Dick Clark Prod.) site??

Maybe my use of "smear" was to harsh...how about "reminder". By all means, let's make sure we keep reminding people of that "horrid and raunchy" performance that happened a year ago.
Adamluv: I did predict it. This is only the first of likely dozens of references to Adam's last years performance that we will be subjected to prior to the airing of this years awards.

i just called my mom (72 years young) to tell her Adam will be on tv..she is so excited,she doesn't have a computer and said she never see's him on Tv...she also is in love with him...can't wait till the 21th...this is thrilling!

I was at the Copley Theater in San Diego the night E! was there filming!!! It was a wonderful show!! I hope they show clips from the GNT too!
Can you imagine one full hour of Adam's gorgeousness on T.V. and not on a small computer screen? Wow....Heaven!

Will definitely tune in to that special. I really don't understand why some of you are upset about the AMAs reference to Adam's performance. I thought that he was GREAT last year. And, if I'm not mistaking, a LOT of other people think like me. His voice at the beginning of his song (a cappela) was outstanding. And he performed like a true professional when he stumbled and NO ONE REALIZED IT because he just continued with his performance. Adam knew then and still knows the saying "The Show Must Go On". He has gone on despite incredible media scrutiny and has won over them because he has a loyal fanbase.
We should actually promote that performance (that would really put a dent in the AMAs publicity scheme for that night). People worldwide have now seen Adam perform LIVE and KNOW what an incredibly gifted artist he is.
They are going to mention it again and again because Adam's name is a huge draw. They don't want him on their show, but they don't mind using his name to drum up interest. Adam was just cited for the second year in a row as one of the 10 most googled persons in the world. He has moved up from #10 to #7. That's unpromoted starpower. They won't be able to shut BB out forever.

Btw, his AMA performance happens to be one of my favorite Adam performances. I guess it falls down to a "taste" thing. I love raunchy, sexy shows and he was fantastic. And I agree with anon 4:15pm, there are millions out there who enjoyed that sexy performance.

E's on Cable. Pretty sure you can get it if you have satellite also. Thing about the AMA's is not that many people watched it. I watched it to see Adam, and so did others. Now the whole world knows WTF AMA is. Adam made that show world famous. They also got lots of heat, but isn't that what Rock & Roll is? I can't be that old. I never could stand dull. Singers hiding behind thier guitars bore the s**t out of me. Always liked Jagger prancing about the stage, being totally out of control. That's Rock & Roll folks.
Adam's E! story on at the exact time of the AMA's is poetic justice for Adam. Thank you E! AMA performance last year awakened the world to Adam Lambert. Today he is selling out his concerts. What a great way to spend a Sunday evening... watching Adam on E! I also was at Copley Symphony Hall in San Diego when they were filming. Was a great show for sure and it was after that live performance that I really became obsessed!! :)
I hope the show won't be focused only in his sexual preference and all the drama that provoce in US his honesty about it.
They should show to the world that Americans support him and recognize Adam as a extraordinary and unique performer and the best male vocalist actually.
I must say - a lot of the subject matter they have listed out here sounds like the usual stuff...so I hope there's something new (for us rabid fans...at lease a few little scraps...please?).
What am I saying...I only have limited cable. Hell, we only JUST got a tv a few days ago after being without one for 2.5 years! Am hoping this somehow ends up online somewhere...24/7 is so good, I'm sure they'll find it for us, if it's to be found!

I also didn't take the above mentioned so much as a smear, or a negative dis by the writer, but a reminder of what made last year's show memorable.
*AND in a tongue in cheek kind of "hmm, take that" way... --> it put his name right near where He SHOULD have been mentioned on the list with the other nominees for "break-out artist". ;)
Sort of --> Adam should have been here, is conspicuous by his absence (or diss by the AMAs) but WAIT... here he is mentioned anyway!
I'm thrilled E will be airing this, and how fitting it's opposite the AMAas. I'll never watch that show again, and Dick Clark REALLY should retire... aren't dinosaurs extinct anyway??? (sorry his health is ailing, not trying to be a wise-guy, but it really is time to give it up)
I just hope they don't dwell too much on any early awkward times or over-emphasize the sexual orientation aspect. Yes those things shaped and made Adam what and who is is today, <--but I hope THAT is what they showcase... the amazing celebration of life, love and incredible talent and showmanship that Adam is and gives to the world.
Do hope they show footage from his Glamnation tour shows, especially his incredible delivery of 'Soaked" etc...
Now if they want to cover sexual, they can mention that Adam just might be the sexiest guy on the planet... well that would be ok!
