2. Adam Lambert

Proof that talent does win out in the end. A year after his unfathomable loss to Kris Allen, a whole lot more people were talking about Idol’s season eight runner-up than its season eight winner. OK, so Adam didn’t run off a string of smash hits from “For Your Entertainment.” He still had four songs hit Billboard’s Hot 100; “Whataya Want from Me” reached number 10. The album stayed on the Billboard 200 for 50 weeks, long after Kris’ had departed. And his Glam Nation Tour was a success here and abroad. Let’s face it, the guy’s entertaining.

I heard some people say, It was and should of been the adam lambert show, not american idol. Idol will never be the same and I've watched all 9 seasons. For-ever grateful to that show for bringing us Adam in the first place.

Great news for Adam - way to go BB!

Ohhh I don't like Carrie that much. She's overrated IMO. Adam should have been #1.

I don't watch AI at all. I found Adam on the internet. He is always number one to me, my idol forever.

Carrie has earned these kudos, and so has Adam. Feel very disappointed for S9 winners, even though Crystal outselling Lee, which we all expected--neither selling much. Maybe Idol should give at least as much attention to these 2 as to David Archuleta, who they have been pimping since he was on Idol. Nothing against David, but he gets way more press than these newbes.

Carrie who I'm sorry I never like her. Kelly Clarkson indeed. Adam and Kelly has the charisma and the voice to entertain the audience. That's my opinion sorry guys I don't want to offend any one here

Dammit, Dammit, Dammit!!! When will they stop with the "openly gay singer" crap?!?!? This is not news, media people. There are other ways to describe Adam! I'm sorry, I just had to get that rant out of the way, I am SO sick of the media talking about this over his talent I could scream! Oh, wait, I just did. Ok, deep breath, calm down. Anyway, congrats to Adam being #2. I can understand Carrie being #1; she has multiple platinum albums and singles, multiple Grammys, and so forth. Adam will, too. He just needs time.

For me Adam Lambert was the winner on Season 8 Of AI. From the first time I saw him perform, I just knew there was something special about him and looked forward each week to his next song, style of outfits and hair. His audience connection was pure electricity. He was vocal perfection, an awesome performer both musically and visually. Adam set the bar so high that season that no one will ever reach it again. Just look how dull and lackluster Season 9 was. Adam Lambert is one of a kind and his impressive vocal talent speaks for itself. He is one edgy, stylish, articulate, charismatic performer with dedicated, passionate fans. He will always be No.1 in my eyes.

Adam's successes proves every single argument out there. And he sure made his point, loud & clear... SWEET‼ :) He didn't need to explain himself... cuz he knows what he's worth & capable of doing‼ :)

V, I'm with you! Really tired of the openly gay label preceding interviews. Even tho' it was a positive blog, that remark deminished it for me. You don't hear "openly heterosexual!"That would be just as annoying! funbunn40

@Anon at 7:34PM - you said it perfectly and those are exactly my thoughts too. As a TOTAL ENTERTAINER Adam will always be NUMBER 1 in my life \o/

Who compiled this list? Was the public invited to vote or was it a list compiled by the music industry?

Where can we find this list?

Not a Carrie Underwood fan, the all American sweetheart, but as a former AI contestant, she’s been around longer than Adam but his talent leaves hers behind the starting block. Where did Kelly Clarkson come in the list? She’s more talented that Carrie imho. I think it should be Adam #1, Kelly #2.

I think Adam and Jennifer Hudson are the best singers to come from AI! I'm sick of hearing Carrie Underwood and her concert bored me.

AI will never find another talent like AL! He blew the doors wide open with his voice and incredible stage presence! I predict the new season of Idol will target a very young audience and it will crown a guy as the winner. they are looking for a new MJ.

I don;t think that Carrie Underwood can get what Adam had accomplished around the world for just a short period of time. For me she's just for country and that's it. She will never be great especially in Asia. Adam still the best Idol contestant who dominated the world music industry for 2010. It's only the beginning...........
