Rob Halford thinks Adam Lambert is SENSATIONAL!

In this Q&A with San Diego Gay & Lesbian News, Halford talks about being out in the gay community, offers a glimpse into his experiences with “sex, drugs, and rock ‘n’ roll,” shares heart-felt wisdom with other gay artists such as Adam Lambert, and previews his new CD and upcoming performance in San Diego.
SDGLN: Another thing I noticed is that you introduced Adam Lambert at the GLAAD Media Awards. Was that interesting for you to be there with other well-known artists who have come out as gay like yourself?
HALFORD: It was fantastic. It really was fantastic. I think Adam is a sensational singer and performer and entertainer. He’s got a long, long life ahead of him in show business. It was a great feeling. We don’t know each other, but we know a little bit about each other as far as what we feel we have tried to do within the gay community. So, it was like on the red carpet, the old god meeting the new god. The paparazzi went completely crazy. We couldn’t see each other because of the flashbulbs going off. Again, it was very, very important. It was another spectacular night with a lot of meaning attached to it for me.
SDGLN: Now there are other musicians that have come out, Elton John, George Michael, Adam Lambert. There is also a female metal singer, I don’t know if you have heard of her, of the band Otep. Her name is Otep Shamaya, and she is a lesbian metal singer.
HALFORD: Yes, yes I am aware. I think it’s great. I think it is wonderful. Those of us that are gay and lesbian, bisexual and want the rest of the world to know are stepping forward and it means a lot. It really does. Yes, I have heard Otep; her music it is very unusual and original.

It's great that other artists like Rob Halford sees & recognizes Adam's enormous talent this alone says a lot‼ I love how he said; " old god meeting new god"‼... fantastic‼ :)
Off topic. Just heard Sleepwalker is #1 song mostly request today in Toronto 100.5FM radio station for best music. No wonder I have been hearing a lot lately. Just too happy to let you all know.

Who is Rob Halford?
Too bad so many artists feel they must stay in the closet to save their careers. Hope the high profile Adam and a few others have will change things more in line with the feelings outside the US--more accepting.

Alright!! I almost jumped off the chair when the pictures from the GLAD Awards Red Carpet were published...and I recognized Rob Halford in the pictures WITH ADAM.. What a moment.
How wonderful to hear an accomplished legend of Rob's stature speak so well of Adam... Respect for talent and different genres... "the New God"!! Wow, FANTASTIC!! Keep Rockin' Rob...

Rob Halford is known as "the METAL GOD" very highly regarded in his genre - Heavy Metal. He's the original singer for "Judas Priest" and probably one of the first artists to come out as gay. NOT an easy thing to do 20 or more years ago.
I believe he was pretty much the first to wear/start the trend & help make the whole metal, leather, studs & bondage look more popular to mainstream...

Any form of recognition coming from celebrities and peers in the industry gives Adam more credibility so this is really great.

wait..Adam is licking Tokio Hotel and their fans???WTF?!The band is a mix of teens and so are their fans and Adam is beyond his teenager years. So, what's up with that? I love Adam but this addiction of being constantly nice and goody-goody for ppl that call him a fake is annoying. Why can't he just ignore them?And by ignore them, I mean shut all comments and conversation about them including invitations for shopping and going out. Bill Kaulitz is not ready to come out publically even though he is as gay as our 'rock god' is. Ok,sorry..I got carried away...I know Judas Priest but I can't remember Rob, still it was an interview full of very nice compliments.Thank you, Rob!

Adam has opened up a WORLD of new music to a lot of fans who would not have known or heard it otherwise if not for loving HIM. So glad this is happening for you too! Cool huh??

Have to admit I wasn't a fan of either, as it put my happy self in a bad mood and seemed depressing to me. Guess I wasn't that hip. I preferred Billy Idol. lol funbunn40
