Spectacular news!!! I hope it reaches 1 million before the year ends.

Anyone think it's possible?

Anonymous said...

Yes it's possible because his voice is what makes the album unique !

Anonymous said...

I do!!!!!
Can't wait til the dvd of GNT comes out!
I can't wait til his next album comes out!!!
& I'm really looking forward to his next tour!!!
Congratulations Adam!!!!

I'm going to be honest and say if the album cover was different......sales would have been much higher....

Some people didn't 'buy the album because of the cover. So shallow and closed minded.

I have a ? Compared to the numbers that are in the millions, are Adam's #s too low, for in the minds of 19 or rca to drop Adam? I mean, uh, over 3, 4, or 7 million copies, that's pretty big. K

Congrats to Adam for this monumental achievement for his debut album! An even greater ahievemement to be a grammy nominee when you see the figures for Chris Daughtry and other artists that have sold over one million in the US. Going abroad with his successful GNT and the attention it received added to his credibility as an artist. The more visible he is to the main stream, the more hearts he will capture. I think he's building a firm foundation for a lasting career. When you think of how many other artists are out there trying to stay in this business when there are so many illegal downloads and few hard cds readily available in stores, Adam is doing just fine. funbunn40

There are numbers and then there is talent. Nobody in their right mind can question his talent, his voice and his passion. All that is why we are his fans, right ?

This is amazing!!!!

Just for comparison:

Kris Allen: 300,000

Danny Gokey: 190,000

Allison: 150,000

Cool. Just bought another album as a gift to my niece. Introducing her to Adam.

Hate to be negative, but could 19 drop Adam. Can't believe Jive dropped David A. I thought he had good sales. Adam is a hot product right now, so hopefully this won't be the case. I didn't see David Cook in this mix, and I know he sold a lod. And Dywize??

I just wonder who is buying his CD after 15 months of its release. I hope they are new fans.

Adam has sold way over a million albums world wide plus two of his singles have sold in the millions....Fantastic
Just a reminder. If you go on Pandora.com ,a different type of radio station. Write in Fever to hear loads of Adam's songs.

I think the state of the economy and the music business being so unstable is causing the music production companies to become skittish and to drop many talented artists. The bottom line is always money and executives covering their *sses. Adam may not have the biggest fan base right now, but we are loyal and supportive and I see it growing. I think when more see him as not an oddity,[ as some not familiar with him perceive,] but as a creative, forward thinker,multi-talented and really not unlike the norm regular guy, false judgements will fall away. Hopefully there are still some smart suits that have the long range vision to see that Adam is an icon[I can feel Fan4fun's baby picking up his ears!lol]and will bring on the return of their investment 10 fold. funbunn40

Here we are again. Ladies, please, are you still so naive and don't want to understand why Adam didn't sell $1,000,000 copies of FYE in first 6 months?
This is not about cover, it is about AMA!!!!!!!!!! In my office 90% people love Adam and they even didn't watch AI! And they plan to buy the album. And after AMA just one of them bought CD and it was ME! Since this time I boought 10 copies of FYE. And I am sure most of us bought two or three copies. But this is not enough to sell 500,000 CD sience January 2010, when total amount of copies wich been sold was 500,000. Freaking Susan Boyle sold 2,000,000 copies to January 2010. I don't think she has more fans in US than Adam.
I am sure, Adam will sell much more copies of his second album. Lets just pray.

Don't patronize 12:22. Some of us really have some smarts and are not so naive!! How many albums do you think Adam would have sold if AMA didn't happen? I think it propelled his sales worldwide rather than diminish them.

It's as much promotion as anything. Subo's 2nd album is being promoted way more than Adam's 1st, and her 1st sterile album was everywhere with big posters. Even now I can't find Adam's CD in the stores and ordered online. SuBo is there big time dominating everyone with signs and her picture. Sorry, she has a nice voice and a nice story, but that's about it. It's promotion, promotion, promotion, and Adam has done the best job of that himself. Good thing he doesn't have to rely on his management.

And I do think the album cover had an impact. Just imagine Adam posing like he did for the Grammys? He is so gorgeous, many would have bought the album just to look at that picture. Yes, the cover also showed his face, but there were elements about it that also turned off a lot of people. Respectfully, it's not all about the AMA.

Please, we can disagree on this site without disparaging others by calling them "naive." It's not necessary to name call and generalize in order to have normal rational discussion even though there is a difference of opinion.

The Dark Side said...

Don't think Adam's sales can be compared to Susan Boyles, as she is promoted to the max last two Christmas. This is a safe, inexpensive gift to give people, whether they open the CD or not. We all have our own reasons why we think Adam didn't go platinum in US. Can't change things. What we can do is make certain his next album goes platinum fast.

His label won't drop him. He is gaining fans not just in the U.S. don't forget internationally. His best is yet to come in the next cd,remember he said more leather less rhinestones. I think Adam has learned a lot this past year and he knows just what to do.

Anonymous said...

Hello there, concern Troll! 19 won't drop Adam, they have obviously invested in him and his second album. They also see his potential as an international artist. Now, if for some reason the 2nd album would sell nada, then you can wring your hands again.

And for Adam to reach a million album sold in USA, he would need to sell 5 000 copies a week, every week. That's not going to happen, not without new singles or a some kind of fluke like a song featured in a smash movie/tv program/commercial. The current pace is about a thousand per week. (the 2 000 was boosted by the Grammy publicity) I'm predicting that the sale will reach 850 000, fueled in the end of the year by the new album.

But why end up staring the USA figure only, Worldwide, Adam has *Already* sold over a million albums! A huge feat in the current time of recession and pirating.

Anonymous said...

Adam has sold more than a million albums around the world, He has two hit singles that are selling in the millions around the world other singles from the album are coming out in other countries as I write.Adam had a sold out world tour,he put out an acoustic cd and now a DVD is on it's way,all from "For Your Entertainment" If you want to make comparisons, think of all the artists who don't share this amazing success. It's kind of like a kid gets a 98 on a test and is asked where the other 2 points are.

@12:36pm When I wrote "naive" I didn't want to hurt somebodies fillings.
We live in time when many people are buying a lot of things on the line from Amazon, eBay,etc So, when I coudn't find FYE in the store, I bought it from Amazon.
Also, about AMA, again:( Most of the Grammys or AMA details are on Fasion poilice, after AMA,Grammys youtube, articles and reviews. I don't think so many poeple even watch Grammys or AMA believe me. Personally, I didn't watch Grammys until last year when I found that Adam is gonna be there.
But the accidents as Lady GaGa's arriving in the egg or wearing has flank steak outfeat, or JLo had dress on Golden Globe which practically didn't cover her body(it was many years ago, but I still remember it) you can see next day on TV on O'Reily's factor, morning news, everybody mention it on every daytime, nighttime shows!
So, I am absolutely postive, it would be sold over 1,000,000 CDs in first two months after CD was realised. Like I said, Susan Boyle didn't have so many fans like Adam had before AMA. And I think he knows about it.
Also, why you continue to say "we" or "us". I am one of the biggest Adam's fans but don't want to mix reality with dreams. And I am positive that Adam will sell much more than 500,000 albums in fist few months

Susan Boyle went world wide because of youtube.. nobody could believe that that voice came out of that women's head.Stars are now hired if they get a lot of hits on Youtube.. think Justin Beiber another YOutube Hit.It saves a lot of time for record producers ,they don't have to leave their homes to find new potential stars.

I missed the comment about RCA dropped Adam. Who was such a troll and got this strange idea? Sorry, but if RCA want to drop Adam they would do it long time ago.May be they don't promote him enough. But there are some reason why they don't do it, I am absolutely positive about it.
But I still blame them (like most of us)when I am very upset because they don't promote Adam for new single release in US! But Adam is very smart boy and he still works with them, He knows what they are doing for his carrier.

I think I talk to much today. Have to be carefull, my boss is still in the office:)

Off topic just was watching Ellen show and a young boy named Greyson Chance came on to sing. I was blown away. I believe he could actually be the next Adam when he gets older. In fact he had warmth, stage presence and passion that reminded me of a young Adam. Not liking to compare any one to the best singer in the world but to hear someone that can really sing is special. Move over Beiber cause he is cute too!

You are an absolutely dear sweetheart and I know you love and support Adam with all your heart and soul, but I have to say that I would guess most are aware of the history. Just sort of "water under the bridge" or "the elephant in the room" kind of thing. We know it's there, but just like to focus on the positive, the fact that in spite of a rough start, he has done very well, all things considered, in fact REALLY well. The AMA performance will forever be remembered as the moment when Adam really became "legendary" (for better or worse, at the time..) in the music world and to the general public, and even though it had some major effects on his career for awhile (including album sales..) , he has worked extremely hard to overcome the negativity and has had many accomplishments: his fabulous Tour, his Grammy nomination..so happy for him! The cover he chose probably also was a bit of a deterrent to sales in some cases, but again, it is what is is. Live and learn. Susan Boyle was indeed the recipient of worldwide publicity on a huge scale and as others have said, everywhere you looked, there she was, CD's everywhere, even in the drugstore I go to, next to the register. She was the media darling of the world for quite awhile. I was very taken with her story, love her voice, but after buying her CD, listening to it approximately twice, I put it away and have not listened it it since. Some of it was good, some not so good, but guess its a matter of opinion, just like everything else. I am so happy for her as well, to have the success that she has enjoyed, but she indeed is a much "safer" choice for many people.

I have no doubt that Adam is safe from being dropped from RCA/Sony for the foreseeable future. He is featured prominently on their website (probably partially thanks to the Grammy Nomination..YAY!) and they have to be well aware of his potential to be a major worldwide star.. and is already well on his way. They would have to be completely deaf, blind, and stupid to consider dropping him now. And, as many have said, Adam is much more savvy of what he has to do with his next album and with his image. It is so obvious to me that he has that figured out, even now, and he has said as much himself.

No one above said Adam had been dropped, they just expressed concern. And @delilah, be careful!!! You don't want to get into trouble with your boss! I'm off work this week, its snowing like crazy outside my house, so I'm free to cruise the net today.

Anon 1;52, Greyson C. is the first artist signed to Ellens new recording co./or signed as the first artist to something new of hers! LOL! Cant remember exactly what it was. He first showed up on youtube doing a cover of "Paparazzi". He then appeared on her show performing that song. I'm assuming this was a 2nd or 3rd time on her show.

I have been a fan of Adam Lambert since his first appearance on AI. Eventhough he is reaching that 800,000 sales mark, I very seldom hear WWFM or IIHY played on the radio here in the NYC listening area. If it weren't for the Grammy nomination(which was a wonderful honor) and the interviews Adam did on various tv programs, much of the public out there is probably wondering where he is. Everytime I have the radio on there is another new song from Pink, Katy Perry, Rihanna, Gaga constantly being played. So why isn't there another cut from Adam Lambert's cd. Is there going to be nothing between now and the first release from his new album in the fall? Is his record label reluctant to promote him with another single and a video for it? We all know it all comes down to the almighty dollar, but they are wasting the best vocal talent in the music industry today. Will that AMA performance forever haunt Adam? I certainly hope not and I think he has learned his lesson from that and other experiences on his GNT. He has to keep his name out there because there seems to be a new 15 year breaking into the business everyday. Just look at all the young talent on this season of AI. I've read that they are grooming promising finalists for stardom and contracts even if they are still competing and don't win. They are just looking for a marketabale individual to make the big bucks. I will always be an Adam Lambert fan, but it does get discouraging at times not to see him and his music promoted to a greater degree.

When Adam's new album comes out with "more leather, less glam," I'd be willing to bet that those people who didn't buy FYE (for whatever reason) will want a copy to see the difference in the two. Then FYE will go to 1,000,000 sold in the US.

Anonymous said...

@anon 2:38.
You don't hear Adam on the radio in the NYC area? What stations are you listening to? I hear WWFM almost every day.
Getting new song on the radio is very expensive. Cost of making video for the song is mindboggling. Would record label risk tons of money to promote new song from an album that is 16 months old? With the exception of Gaga every artist that you mentioned got no more than 3 songs from their albums. So did Adam.
If I'm wrong, please correct me.

I'm remembering something ADAM's friend Carmit said on E! THS ... she said that ALL the publicity that ADAM has garnered over the time since he wnt on AI was ... priceless ... neither ADAM nor his management could ever have afforded to pay for the publicity he got from the AMA's ... good or bad ... she also said that every adversity he has faced has worked to ADAM's advantage ... ADAM has a lot of friends in the business with a lot of savvy so don't worry about ADAM ... he is a commodity that RCA won't be looking to give away ... ADAM is too HOT ... in every sense of the word!! We just need to have a little more FAITH in ADAM ... he's a 'smart cookie' .. as they say ... let's just keep LOVING him & giving him all the support we can! Light 'n Love to ALL Glamberts Worldwide & Pray for our brothers & sisters in NZ ... donate too if you can ... they need it!!

Just one more thing ... I remember ADAM saying when there was all that hoopla about his album cover ... he wanted the cover to be 'campy' and those who didn't buy it because of it ... ADAM would rather only have people buy his album because of the MUSIC ... not because they 'approved' of the album cover. ADAM was so RIGHT ... the cover was only for those people who were true fans & who 'get' ADAM ... like we do. I wonder how many people listen to SuBo ONLY every chance they get ... I listen to ADAM everyday without fail ... my day is INcomplete if I don't ... that goes for VOTING too. I've said enough ... sorry ... I'll shut up now ...Love 'n Light

I read that it was David A's decision to part from his label...
Would love for Adam to have another single released with a video, (now he's back in the states to do lots of promo, but even if they don't do that, at least get him on lots of chat shows to chat and sing, can be anything from his album, just to keep his name out there. Maybe it'll reach new fans and promote the album that way.
as to susan boyles (1st) album, my husband brought it for me when it came out (have no idea why!), listened to it once out of politeness, its not been out the box since. still listen to Adam most days, now made better by the fact my son has taught me how to convert utube vids to MP3's...so now have a much bigger choice.
As to the cd cover, still can't get my head around the fact that some people would be so shallow as to not buy an album because of its cover. its whats inside that counts.

SuBo sells well because she is completely benign and non-threatening. Nice voice. Adam is pretty polarizing. Not benign AT ALL. He has a better international following than most other Idols, I think. I love him so! We've all said a million times over that he needs to be promoted more by his management, get on shows and SING for Pete's sake! All I can say is, his next CD better have at least one or two kick-ass hits on it and we need to buy the hell out of it. It's all sales numbers no matter how much WE love him.

Sometimes I just get so sad when I read some of the comments from anxiety ridden fans. Adam is doing GREAT,RCA loves him,he's an International superstar and he's just starting out.He has incredible talent, charisma that lights up every stage he's on. He can not only sing ,but act, dance,do comedy, run a talk show ,be a talent scout / mentor and even become a model ,because he's gorgeous. What the heck are you worried about? Please people stop wringing your hands ,you're taking the joy out of Adam's success

Just finished watching the first part of AI and elimation down to the top 24. I have said this so often that Adam Lambert set the bar so high during season 8, that everyone since then just cannot(in my eyes) hold a candle to him and his vocal talent. He is a dynamic performer both musically and visually and I hope he does eventually hit that million mark for album/cd sales here in the US. It always seems to come down to the numbers and the almighty dollar for the record companies. Maybe with the release of the GNT DVD, Adam will make some appearances to promote it and also perform one of the songs. This should reawaken interst in the cd and bring some new devoted fans on board. Hopefully Adam, along with his management team and handlers, will remain focused and confident about Adam's music and his ever developing career. Nothing short of super stardom should be their goal for this talented, charismatic, articulate, charming performer.

@Anon/Feb. 23 at 1:14PM ditto with Adam's huge accomplishment despite the bad economy that has been hurting the US and the prevalence of piracy.

IMHO, FYE is remarkable for a debut album with so many other potential hits in it. Many songs in FYE have been used and covered in various occasions locally and internationally. That says a lot. There is practically a song for everyone and i couldn't even say that i have a favorite because my choice changes with my mood hahaha. I still believe that FYE is a strong album and if only the radio stations were friendly enough to Adam plus a strategic promo scheme, it would have been a different story. @HK fan same here with regards to the CD cover. I also find it a bit strange that people will not buy an album because of the cover because you can always remove or replace it since what matters is the music. His AI followers must have expected something else from him that's why they were sort of taken aback with Adam's brand of music which is really different compared to his AI performances. Well that is just my honest observation :)

But just the same, things are still looking good for our Diamond Boy. Congratulations Adam Mitchel Lambert and wishing you more success in life and in love teehee :)

I think we all realize that Adam Lambert is a multi-talented individual. I suppose so many of his devoted fans are "wringing their hands" and are worried because his career hasn't taken off as fast as they had hoped it would. When the music industry keeps pushing 15 year old teens to the forefront and other artists who put out these pop tunes one after another, Lambert's fans might ask "why isn't he getting more of a push from his record label?" It was great to see him all over the tv during Grammy week doing those interviews. Now I guess we have to wait until the DVD is released to see him again. I think those of us who have been fans right from the beginning realize he will one day reach iconic status, but we wish it would be sooner rather than later.

The talent on this year's Idol is insane.

I think people worry for Adam because they love him, and in their minds, they believe he's not getting a fair shake. Adam has to be out of his mind with the success he's had, and the life style he gets to live. It's all relative. Sure there are the super sellers, but fame is fleeting for so many. Adam is 29 and just now lauching a career that will have longivity. He says love overcome all. Well talent also overcomes. Very little of his music on FYE really showcased what we all experienced and fell in love with on Idol, and that was the voice. He now knows that his music on that album was somewhat over-processed. His focus will be different. He will have ups and downs just like others, but I'm along for the ride whatever direction it takes.

I think as we speak on this blog Adam is working hard on his new CD. I think we will see abit less glitter and more consentration on the vocals this time. He has commented several times that the tour taught him what his fans were looking for. Some times you have to play the game some what right? He won't give up his entergity as an artist. The music has to come first and foremost and if that is the case he will keep going. He worked on the 1st CD in a rush and under crazy deadlines. Just think what he will do if he takes his time. I agree with many of you about why more singles where not realeased. I am still shaking my hands on that and still have not got an answer yet??? It is one of the few CD's I have owned that I like every song on it. The cover turns guys off from buying it. He has to attact a good cross section of people to go down the path of success. He has been successful. GAGA's new CD had amazing sales like no other. Truly she is the acception to the rule. Adam is still doing very well and I feel he will continue doing very well. I think we will see a more conservative Adam next time around. Mark my word change is a 'comin!

I've watched most episodes and I have found no one that really stands out to me, thats made me sit up and take notice, like Adam did right from his audition. They all seem really bland, no stage presence, although not as bad as last year. Hopefully once the top 24 starts it'll start to improve for me.

Every song is amazing and it showcases her voice perfectly.
