First let me say that I adore Adam. But this video is really borderline inappropriate, maybe well over the line. I do have a great sense of humor and I know some of you will think it is hysterical, but I don't see deviant predator behavior as funny. I think about those young girls who have been the target of predators. Not funny at all. I know some of you will tell me to lighten up, but well 1 out every 5 girls will be sexually abused as a child and how many of the young girls will be target of a predator before they reach adulthood. Tons. Internet predators are the scum of the earth. This is not funny. This video made me sick to my stomach. I am pretty disappointed that Adam posted it. I know he is edgey, but this video IMO crossed the line. I could go on for pages here, but I won't. Now, you can all tell me I am wrong. But when your sister, cousin, daughter or friend becomes the target of a predator, maybe you will look differently as this video. Just wrong on so many levels.

Agree, I hated this video.

Wow, think the video was funny for the content. Guess everyone has a different sense of humor. It pretty much is what comedy is about these days. Didn't put a predator vibe to it, nor will I. Taking it for what it is, a piece of comedy. Not that deep.

I totally agree with @ 3:29, What is it? Sick taste. Is this a sitcom, an ad, or a movie, or something from SNL? Adam I love you, BUT this is not funny, it is sick, sick, sick. Were you drunk when you tweeted this?

Anonymous said...

I don't want to hear the old cliche, " it's not that deep". Thats used for everything inapropriate. Same as "it's just rock and roll"
for all things disgusting or really over the line. Get a grip Adam, you are falling into a chasm. Btw, I am a fan and have your cd's and dvd's, I love your voice.

Thought it was somewhat funny! Loved Cheri Oteri from SNL, especially when Will Ferrell and her did skits. I think he is one of the founders of Funny or Die. Dont peeps realize this is a take off from Chris Hansons show a few years ago. Dont find it inappropriate at all. If you didnt like this, dont go see Bridesmaids which I saw this morning. It's hysterical! BTW, I had plans on seeing it long before Adams tweet the other day. ... Adamluv

Adam is having a twitter party right now.Go ask him some questions..even about that video if you want to.I don't like it either( & also lots of skits on tv),but the woman was in her 40's & wasn't a teenager..I don't know who came up with that video..not terrible,NOT porn either, but just yucky to me.The twitter party is much better.Give Adam a break this time,ok?You know he's not always an angel..Sauli & maybe Tommy are there"fooling around"..I'm not gonna make any real snap judgements about this.

Anonymous said...

Thankyou for the tip "Adamluv". I definitely won't go to see Bridesmaids.I am surprised, that people like such sick " humor ?"

Sorry guys I thought it was hysterical!

I think we have "idolized" Adam into something he isn't-------perfect. I didn't think it was a funny skit. But I'm also realistic about Adam,
he lives in a different place and time space than I do. I don't like many of the artists he recommends, the entertainment venues he frequents nor many of the circles he revolves in.
But, then it isn't my job to "police" him.

We don't KNOW him! Most of what we see charms us
and his voice and looks cast an intoxicating spell. He oozes charisma for most of us, but as a fan I don't feel I need to approve of his taste and lifestyle......We really have only seen snippets of his personality.

As for the video, it seemed like one of SNL's
less inspired skits. As for Adam......

We've sort of made him up in our minds as to what we want him to be.....actually he's already a fully formed person, we can like him or leave him!.........I'm staying............JAK

Well, it's Cheri Oteri. So, whatevs. I don't think it IS that deep. No deeper than your average, slightly dumb SNL skit, that is.

But I do kind of wonder whether it isn't a comment on all the older women who are lusting after Adam these days, and have been since AI. You know, the ones who dress up in glitter and act like 13-year-olds and talk about him in these kind of "romance novel" kinda ways, even though he has so CLEARLY stated time and time again that women ain't his thang.

Which is kinda weird, because it just doesn't seem like Adam to be so mean-spirited, although I could see how the older female lust might get old. Maybe someone hijacked his twitter...?

Adam I having a twitter party now and answering questions Go people. It is also Leila, his mom's birthday today. Happy birthday Leila, thanks for bringing Adam into the world.

@anon 4:21, you are most welcome. I bet you can find re runs of the Lawrence Welk Show on TV to entertain you. Or even Hee Haw!!!!!! ... Adamluv

@ JAK You always have words of wisdom. We all have a different sense of humor and sometimes it changes with your mood. So Adam is young and his idea of what's funny might be different than someone older. He's not perfect, but I love him no matter what because at least he's real!!!

Anonymous said...

It ISN'T THAT DEEP, cliche or not. I like this stupid, off-the-wall humor sometimes, too, just like Adam. I know it's kinda gross and immature and dumb, but it's just weird and funny and harmless. I'm not going to psychoanalyze Adam over it. C'mon, people. On with the Twitter party!

Hk fan said...

didn't find the video at all funny, not particularly offensive, just weird and not funny.
As to the Twitter party, have just been reading his responses, any chance of someone posting all the questions and Adams replies like last time?
OT, its now 8,42 am sun morning, and I'm still here, guess the world didn't end (although its still pouring with rain!)

This is just a parody. I remember seeing NBC Dateline series called To Catch a Predator a few years back. I don't know was that the real Chris Hansen on this video, but he hosted the show. It was kinda seriocomic, because on the show the fake teenagers were alluring men to come to their houses and when they arrived, they got arrested.

Anonymous said...

4:11 & 4:36 Yah, this video wasn't funny. Adam picked it for a reason. It's his selection that's the issue (not the ignorant video itself). I think it was intended as a jab against all women over 30. Join the crowd Adam. Yes, disappointed. He's put a couple other disrespectful things up on Twitter re: women lately, i.e. the "hunty" comment as his new favorite term of endearment and the gay community term for women as "fish". He cut those women to the core who tried to take his picture at the party for Sutan, but the men?different story. Maybe this is what people who make it into the "In-Crowd" do? He does seem to prefer young and/or especially beautiful females, women who are especially talented, or--like he says--smart, strong, & funny--"the gay stereotype".

Women are the last minority in the USA--not black men, not gay men. It's not just in the universe of Adam fans--it runs throughout all spheres of American life. The vast majority of females dont get respect, especially women over the age of 30. Middle aged women and older women are often treated with outright disdain--as though we do not have a right to the same quality of life as everyone else--to even feel alive and sexy and have a good time. They are labeled "cougers" or "grannies". Women can't possibly just be & be OK like men of any age.

I had no idea how bad it was till I started following Adam. Not only has Adam been treated to horrific, degrading comments on the internet--his female fans over the age of 30 have as well. These fans have been told over & over that their zealousness hurts Adam--even on this fan site. Sadly, it probably does because these women are wrongly stereotyped & disrespected in the 1st place. Heaven forbid they contact a heterosexual male DJ at a radio station to request Adam's music (only 16 year old girls & men of any age are allowed to do that without garnering disrespect for the artist).

It's a tough dilemma for Adam. I don't blame him. Still love him dearly. No, he's not perfect & shouldnt have to be. I want to continue to believe, however, that he doesn't have a mean bone in his body--or he's not the man I thought he was. Don't ever want to feel "used" by anyone, even Adam.

I don't think this is supposed to be laugh-out-loud funny. More of a social commentary about the age of internet dating. Both the female and male characters are twisted and pathetic.

On adamtopia.com there are questions and answers where it says news and info on the right hand side. Everything shows up there first then gets put here. So by tomorrow I am sure all the questions and answers will be posted here. A fun twitter party and we are still all here!

Simple as that people!!!!!

Adam is not perfect and he can also dissappoint you eh!!!!

Think about that ha?????

In or out???//

Fortunately we have a wide choice of humor and music to choose from to keep us all happy. Others choices may not appeal to us at all. My beloved practically perfect #1 daughter doesn't listen to Adam's music and has tried to convince me I'd like Avenged Sevenfold.......I'd rather have a root canal without novacaine!......JAK

I didn't think it was a commentary on older women at all. More about the perils of online hookups.

Anonymous said...

I don't think Adam would ever treat women disrespectfully. He's is always kind and polite. I really don't think he is taking a jab at older women with this video at all and never would. He appreciates all his fans and tells us all the time. He just couldn't be that insensitive about it.

Adam's mom Leila is about 50 or so. And Adam respects her more than anything. He would die for her! You who have sons here! Adam is a young guy among others with a boy humour, sometimes gross, tasteless, stupid, simple etc. You know! The fact after all is that we boys/men/gayboys do not survive without women. We need you, we want you, we lust you, we miss you, we cry because of you. You are the basis of everything. THERE IS NO LIFE WITHOUT WOMEN! Please try to distinguish boyhumour from deliberate offence towards women. Adam is a boy but not bad. Ronnie

Don't sweat the video. It's just AML's fascination with a role-reversing perfomance satirizing reality on the ground (entrapment) in an an edgy SNL way. Not outrageously funny, but not all that shocking, either. It makes a point with those who want to see the point: Sex and entrapment and punishment with the male/female roles reversed. My take: the intent of the video is not one of demeaning women or womanhood so please do stop all this angst over what you imagine is an insult to older women.

Excuse me for saying this but I think the one thing that could hurt Adam's career is his world of Glamberts. We can give him support but we can also take it away from him. I admire Adam & sometimes he does shock me with his use of such words towards women of any age. But I adore the man will always support him.
@Ronnie, great statement makes want to go home & love him even more!!! Thank you!! Mwah!! K

I always find people have tendency to take the worst content out of Adam's tweet or sayings. I just find the vid weird and never believe he meant something not respectful. You know, our boy like to be silly and playful sometimes. LoL

I am sorry I watched this video. I'm surprised that they were making fun of what is the most sickening depraved things in our society, child abuse and their predators.

He put this video and people will decide how we interpret the situation. Some of you said it's not funny and some of you explaining about boys humor and that's how it goes folks!!!!!!

Freedom of opinions are great but don't judge the book by it's cover!!!!!

Adam is one of us HUMAN!!!!!!!

Here we go again!!! Why do people get so ranty all the time - it boggles my mind? People have a tendency to be so negative when all I truly took from this was "be aware" that there is always someone out there to prey on the less fortunate and with the technology of the internet comes many faces - tread cautiously. They may have went about the video in a cookey fashion but it was relatable and definitely got your attention and started discussion which, in my opinion, is always a good thing. We live in the 21st century, it's a big world with great diversity, we not clones (thank God)and we're not perfect (thank God - boring) so why can't we just embrace everything (take the good and leave the bad and learn from it). Everyone has something to contribute. Remember that an "open mind" leaves room for something worthwhile to enter.

I think love you. Thank you for that insightful comment.
@Anon 6:39AM
I love you too. We all know Adam loves women. He´s been asked "Do you feel embarrased that your fans are middleaged women?"
He said "NO! Why should I be embarrased?"
Even if we know he loves women, ALL women, we jump at his throat if he says a word that is not in OUR vocabulary, that WE find degrading.
Hunty was an endearing word, he said. "NO! It´s degrading to women!" we decided even knowing what his perception of the word was.
Is "cocky" degrading to men? Perhaps "Hocky" is the endearing term.
And now a video we don´t find funny. Again we psychoanalyze him for linking to it.
I really hope he doesn´t lurk on this site.

Anon 10:53, you are absolutely right. If they'd check the Dateline series I mentioned earlier, they'd know what this clip is about. I've read that teenagers sell sex in the western world to get money for expensive clothes, without their parents knowing about it. It's the social pressure that makes them want to have designer label clothes and ordinary working parents can't buy these items for them.

By the way, I never watch Glee. It's too simple humour for my taste.

We're doing it again, obsessing over a dumb skit that was funny to some and just plain stupid to others. I remember the program it was based on, it was dumb too. Supposedly it was to enlighten you as to the dangers of hooking up with someone
on the internet. Sounds like a good idea, but after the "gotcha" moment they sat around and chatted about why you came to this house expecting sex with a kid........it was about as helpful as Teen Moms.....did that scare any teen into saying "I don't think so?" No, it made the inept moms into STARS and look at the mess that's created.

What the networks give us as entertainment today is pitiful. pitiful people, pitiful so-called reality, pitiful crap. Good TV writers are out of work along with actual actors because networks can put unknowns on, with mind numbing
premises for much cheaper shows and people WATCH IT. It's money, money, money!

I don't think Adam had any deep meaning behind tweeting about the skit, he just thought it was entertaining......my husband thinks watching golf is exciting and watching endless real life cop film of stopping speeders????????????

Talk about mind numbing!..............JAK

Eva,

Hunty is in the Urban Dictionary, easy to Google. Adam uses the Urban Dictionary a lot. Speaking for myself, I did not jump down Adam's throat for tweeting this vid. (I do think Adam had a purpose for doing it.) I just said I was disappointed. I am a clinical psychologist for a long time now. I am very grounded in reality when it comes to human beings. A fourth of my case load at any one time has been comprised of gay clients. As I stated above I still love Adam dearly. I understand his struggle with over-zealous female fans. With adults, things are seldom black or white, either-or. We're complicated. We all have conflicts. We are all a work in progress, as is Adam (something I find fascinating about him).

Ronnie, I love you, too. Your comments are very sensitive and kind. :)

I actually hope that Adam & his mom do lurk on this site from time to time. I try to write stuff with the possibility that could happen in mind. When I 1st started visiting this site, I actually thought Adam's mom might be running it. I even thought Glitzylady could possibly be Leila. She might get a charge out of that :). That is a huge compliment to Glitzylady, who is, of course, lovely in her own right.

P.S. To back up my overall observations re: disrespect for women in USA, read blog comments re: Hillary Clinton. The hate spewed at Hillary is shocking.

Most of you have missed one very funny skit. It's a shame you can't see the humor in this "well into her forties woman wanting a mustache ride." It's hysterical. I'm 70 years old and when I need a good laugh I haul out "The Big Lebowski" or "There's Something About Mary." Lots of you need to lighten up.

Don't say "It's just rock and roll" or "It isn't that deep" just say IT'S FUNNY. Watch it again with new eyes.

Thanks Ronnie for your valuable male point of view, putting this in a realistic way. I also don't think Adam hates older women, even tho' some may get a little too agressive at times. He does adore Leila and she is so deserving and 50. Someday all of the 20,30 yr olds will be 70 and older. You will still love music, appreciate beauty and talent, maybe even more as you age realize what a gift these things are. You will remember the loves and feelings in your life as they were just yesterday when someone like Adam comes along and rekindles those experiences stored in your memory. I remember Mick Jagger saying, "No one should live past 30." Bet he's changed his tune! Rod Stewart isn't a kid either, but still appreciates music and life. Will Adam still be relevant at 70? I'm sure he'll think so. What about Allison, the little rock fireball? The outside may change, but the spirit doesn't cease to exist when time sneaks up on you. If anything, you appreciate life's beauty all the more and don't take it for granted. We all may not laugh at the same jokes and some things will offend some and not others. It's a matter of taste and I may not always agree, but have to respect our diversity as well as Adam's. He travels in his own universe where he and his friends may share tastes different than some of us. It's all ok. We all have choices. funbunn40

It's about absurdity. When people do absurd, stupid stuff, it is potentially funny. Always has been - always will be. There is a great message here about the dangerous side of online dating and it is presented in a humorous way with ridiculous characters. And Adam, the little devil, loves to push buttons and get us to react, deliciously succeeded by simply putting this vid out there and sitting back.
