Beautiful, and how Adam changed it up. Watch Paula's face. She can't take her eyes off of Adam.Yes Adam was always gracious to the band and Michael Orland. I do think most of the ideas were Adam's but he always gives others props.I truly hope everyone in the biz really does appreciate Adam's wonderful gratitude and also his immense talent!!!

I really love the fact that Michael Orland is so appreciative of Adam in so many ways. It is also wonderful to know that Adam is respected and appreciated everywhere in the (I assume music) business. Such high (and well-deserved) praise coming from someone who knows a thing or two about that subject! I'm waiting for the time the world understands and "gets" what Michael Orland is saying.

Awww. Paula was a pool of Adbdul. I'm a pool of something baby. This song, this performance melted our hearts into one big pool of escalating fandom the likes of which I've never known.

Thanks for the reminder.

And, so nice to see Adam getting such nice call-outs on twitter.

RESPECT........that is what Adam has...always thanking the band......I bet they loved working with him...Season 8......was the Adam lambert Show......

Part of me is wondering why Michael Orland is feeling so nostalgic for Adam right now.

Wondering if they might be working together again????

Anonymous said...

Yup. Season 8 was the Adam Lambert show. I remember the excitement I felt every week, just waiting to see WHAT he would do next.

Ooooh! Good point! Maybe a part in the Idol Finale? Hmmm. Do we dare hope? Of course the Russian concert is close to that date, but wouldn't that be fabulous? I would be a whole lot more excited to watch the Finale, that's for sure!

The Dark Side said...

Perhaps it's just Michael feeling somewhat nostalgic about Season 8 and in particular Adam, who took the time to thank him publicly and others. Also noticed that he was genially happy for Kris, and this years bunch stand on the stage when voted off and free fall instead of being happy for those still standing. I guess they are young, but are you ever too young to have a little class. btw they never have Adam on Idol toward the end of the show as they don't want their front runners shown up.

This is what sets Adam apart: the attitude among music biz biggies that he is a peer, a true professional right along with them. He has always shown such class and recognizes those who helped his along this way. I love to see Adam in the AI finale and have Paula get him on The Voice. He's so damn fabulous.

Paula is on The Voice??

Anonymous said...

I meant Paula's on the X Factor, sorry.

If I Can't Have You is just about my favorite Adam performance on Idol. It's so beautiful, it makes me cry. He's so incredibly gorgeous, yet natural and comfortable and confident. He's not just good looks; he's got such depth and substance.

LP said...

No Paula will be on the X-Factor, with Simon Cowel in the fall. Christine Agulera(spelling) is on the Voice, I am hoping to watch both shows.

Anonymous said...

Yes, this was one of my very favorite performances on Idol. Those were the good old days!

Man, just compare this to the hootenanny that will on this week.

Sounds too craptastic to believe.

While I'm there, think I'll go watch Adam with Queen again.

I just hope they bring out some Rock on the second night this week to clean the twang out of my ears.

"Hootenanny" - now that's funny!

AI8 is "THE BEST" Forever!

Anonymous said...

I agree that AI 8 is the best season. I did not see all of them previous to that, but Adam Lambert stole the show each week. I doubt if the AI finale this season will have him on. With two young contestants focusing on country music, I don't think he would fit in although he could do his version of RING OF FIRE. It was a moment in tv history when Adam sang with Kiss and then Queen and then he sang with Kris Allen for the finale. Nothing can top those performances. And as was seen, Adam and Kris really liked each other and Adam was very happy for Kris. This season, when someone is sent home, esp. with Haley, the look is one of anger, disbelief, even rudeness. As someone pointed out, have a little class. I think this season's finale will be a big disappointment and frankly I don't really care who wins.I think they are both too young to be exposed to the pressure and stress of a musical career, finding the right songs to record, leaving friends and family behind, touring,,etc. They should have finished school, participated in sports and activities and spent time with friends. I think the age should be raised to 18 and let the young ones have a chance to be teenagers for those few years.

I remember always thinking after each Adam performance on AI8, how unbelievably respectful and polite he was to the band and the musical arranger. He never hesitated to give credit where credit was due. I was so impressed with his manners! His mother and father taught him well.

Don't know if any of you saw Ellen Degeneres show (I think it was Thursday) but guess who was performing? Yep, JD and Michael Orland was accompanying him on the piano. No comment on the quality of JD's singing but I can see why Michael Orland really appreciates Adam.

Adam thanked everyone each week after his performance, I don't think I've seen anyone do that since. In his twitter party he just had I'm sure he said he was going to be at the results show next week.

glitzylady said...

Yes, Adam said he will be at the Idol Finale! Fabulous!

I'm guessing Michael Orland tweeted this now because he's feeling bad about the unfair press Adam has gotten lately about stating his views about the AI contestants. Adam has been made out to be a bad guy when, in fact, he is arguably one of the most generous and gracious entertainers out there. Orland probably just wanted to bring some light and honesty to the issue.

Anonymous said...

Was it Michael Orland who said of Adam: He came as a genius and left as a genius... very interesting and apt. I just watched Born To Be Wild... his voice is still ringing in my ear.

Adam said on his twitter party he wouldn't comment about AI because it started fan wars. Not exact words something like that. Then he said sorry he did not mean to hurt any feelings just stated his opinion. Adam is never mean, it was just a certain contestant that thinks he is just too amazing and shouldn't have been voted off. Sorry JD you were too off key and a bit cocky for my taste.

Adam is the most harmless and gentle person I have the privilege to know. Looks like he can't speak his mind as freely anymore...causes fan wars and is fuel for opportunists.

Adam is Adam and he won't change for anyone who missunderstood him!!!!!!!

He is just being respectful that's all!!!!

Go go Adam and we all know that u can't please everybody!!!!

I agree with you about the age requirement. I think 18 would be a better idea.........JAK

P.S. If I Can't Have You makes my toes curl!!!!

I so appreciate Michael Orland recognizing Adam as the decent human being he is and always will be. Can you imagine how exciting it must have been for Michael to work with Adam during Season 8 and vice versa? Thank you 24/7 for posting this "feel good" information.

Anonymous said...

Lovely comments about Adam. :)

I think the ages of 16 and 17 are too young to be exposed to the massive world of entertainment but they actually lowered the age limit this year to 15 and Thia Magia was 15 when she started this year's show.

There are exceptions of course - some young contestants are uber talented - but generally speaking, I prefer to listen to contestants who are older IF they have good voices.

For all of you that are too young to know, the original If I can't Have You, was a super fast disco dance song, so when Ryan asked Adam what song he was doing, I thought oh shit, how is he gonna do that? I was a bit worried but as Adam always proved on Idol, there was never a time to worry because he always turned the unexpected and this performance was no exception! It was simple and brilliant!!! THIS is the reason why I miss Paula! She got Adam totally and never had a bad word to say and why would she? He was fantastic each time he sang. I always loved how he gave props to Michael and the band. That's Adam for ya. Love him!!!

Saturday Night Fever is one of my favorite soundtracks and i fell in love with Adam's rendition of IICHY. Hearing Simon compliment him that way was icing on the cake. I would normally dance swing to this tune but Adam's version was totally unexpected, haunting and pierced right through my heart. I can definitely relate with what Paula was saying. I may have watched this video a hundred times but each time i do i still feel his pain. That is the magic with this magnificent consummate performance artist. His unique ability to connect with his audience when interpreting songs is phenomenal and IMO unmatched. No, he won't give us an okay performance because he makes sure that he always give his best. What a pro!

Michael Orland thank you so much for the Tweet about Adam and congratulations for this great arrangement. Your collaborations with Adam were brilliant and exceptional. All his AIS8 performances were truly memorable and inspiring. Each one was spectacular in its own way.

Yes @Anon May 21/2:43PM, that ADAM LAMBERT SHOW as you said, has completely changed my life for the better. I have no regrets following him from the get go and i have no plans of leaving.

@Anon May 21/3:38PM - i couldn't agree with you more. I never get tired of watching this video and just for the whole day, got to replay it around 10x teehee.

ILYSM Adam! Please stay well my one and only IDOL :D

Adam's performance of IICHY changed my life.
That particular moment where Paula falls in her Pool of Abdul I had all these emotions flow out of me that I had held in for way too long. Adam threw his heart out on the floor that night and did it in the most beautiful and honest way. I also knew then that Adam would understand my emotions in a way like nobody else ever had before.
I still cry most of the time when I listen to him sing this song.

That video still give me chills. I purchased all of his AI performances but due to a computer glitz lost them. I wish AI would package them into a DVD for sale or at least make them available to buy from itunes again because those were some of the most moving performances I've seen in yrs from a singer.

Anonymous said...

Lovely, so lovely! I've watched it several times. Is that his ex-boyfriend (white shirt)with his family members? I don't know much of those times
'cause I live in another country.

Anonymous said...

Just watched it again. Paula is just looking at him with such a sense of understanding when Simon is talking. And what is up with this, "I didn't feel your pain" What is beating in your chest, Simon?
Anyway it is so good to know that Adam is in love again and very happy right now. But somehow that pain will always be a part of him and make him the compassionate person he is right now. In the end Brad did us all a favor.

Lizard Eyes - Who Brad? What favor? Sorry, I don't understand. I'm so new here.

Anonymous said...

@ Lizard eyes... Brad is a well known EX of Adam's who from all acounts we guess was the one who broke his heart ... badly. Amazingly thy're still friends.

ANYWAY... THIS was IT!!! This song was the pivitol moment.... 'Ring of Fire' BLEW me away and caused a 'Tom Cruise" jumping on the couch moment declaring Adam as a true entertainment GENIOUS that I'd follow forever.... THIS moment was when I fell hook line and sinker and knew I'd adore and love him forever too. (and then there was "COME HOME" WHICH RIPPED MY HEART INTO TINY LITTLE SHREDS that Adam will hold forever... But this one will always be the one that I'll remember as the emotional arrow through my heart that would always remain there.

Thanks Cindy! I have heard the names Brad and Drake and now that I watched the two vids (ROF and this one; both fantastic by the way)I noticed that with his mom were different guys whom I supposed to be Adam's ex-boyfriends. Sorry this is totally OT and none of my business, but these old vids made me thinking the past. I'm happy Adam has now Sauli.

@4:12 Though I am not a fan at all, you have to remember the (uber talented in his own mind) Justin Beiber,,,just saying

Just watched IICHY again for the 4,763rd time. It always takes me a moment to get over Seacrest's slobbering all over Adam and introducing him as if he had one long name...Adamalambert.

Yeah, Come Home is heart-wrenching all right. I think Adam cried at the end of the song at Upright Cabaret. He wiped his tears with his sleeve. I do too, with my hand, each time I watch this terrific video. The small audience there was moved. He was already that good before Idol and that's why in my earlier comment...Michael Orland's remark: He came as a genius and left as a genius...is so apt.

I think Adam raised the bar for Michael Orland as well as crew members and all involved with season 8. I noticed Adam's professional demeanor as he was on the show, always turning and extending his arm to the band and giving props to Michael. Adam was very well professionally trained as well as raised with social skills. He also had been out in the world,in the theatre and had the advantage of maturity and being keenly observant of others. Adam had to be a joy with whom to work. He's creative and has a natural instinct to make a song work 5 different ways. It had to be exciting and incredibly gratifying to create with Adam. So many insightful comments above. I agree with you 100%. This song rips my heart out every time I hear and see Adam perform it. funbunn40

Imagine how Drake must have felt that night. It looked like Adam was singing right to him and Drake was grinning, ear to ear. Lucky ANYBODY who is the object of the passion in his voice, at any given moment.

I hope Drake is fine; he loved Adam a lot. There was this incident reported that he felt hurt by Adam who had 'neglected' him at a club and he just left on his own. Adam ran after him; take it with a pinch of salt as with all Adam-related reports. Frankly, who doesn't love Adam a lot.
