Human responsibility requires action. If you feel everyone has a right to live their lives authentically, please consider signing this petition.

Remember the tribal genocide in Rwanda? A bill passed like this could easily turn in to gay genocide. Please open your heart and consider signing this petition.

Appreciate Adam's serious side when he expresses strong opinions towards injustice. That Uganda tweet is horrible. Ronnie

@Sister! Absolutely sign the petition! Thank you Adam and Jack for the important info! Ronnie

This is terrible. To those who don't know, the Ugandans are greatly influenced by the American anti-gay conservative religion missionaries over there. It is a very poor country and those so called religion groups are trying to erase innocent people in the name of their belief. Please sign to help.

A few months ago read at afterelton that prominent conservative American church leaders went to Uganda specifically to push for this bill. But some food for thought as we shake our heads at the inhumanity of this bill - in March of this year, Montana was considering making homosexuality a criminal offense. And in Philadelphia, a 70 year old man was stoned to death by a 28 yr. old man - his defense - the bible says to stone homosexuals. Just saying ....Adamluv

Yes, and a transgender in Baltimore(?) was beaten inside a McDonald's while others laughed and a video was taken on a cell phone.

Ignorance and hate abound all over the world - INCLUDING THE U.S.

It is up to those with open hearts to stand up and say - THIS IS NOT OK! Saying it softly to ourselves or each other is not enough. We must honor our words with some type of action...and I mean for ALL human rights and injustice of all kinds.

We stand strong together in support of others - even those unlike ourselves - or we fall together.

Sorry. I am on a roll. I am horrified and sickened by all of this hate.

Horrible injustice in the world. Each of us can make a difference and sign this petition.

Anonymous said...

The ignorance is not isolated and must be enlightened everywhere. I'm not sure how much influence we will have on Uganda, but may I remind you to find out how your state and federal candidates stand on equality for homosexuals. Our record compared to many progressive countries is dismal. Our best weapon is a vote and there is no excuse for not being an informed voter. I can't go and stand in line, but I can vote absentee ballot and I never miss a chance.

I seem to be on a roll too ,Sister, and I think what sickens me most is that people think they are doing God's work in persecuting others. Don't they think God can handle these things himself? I figure He knows what is in everyone's
heart and what should be is love for one another.

Thus ends my Tuesday sermon..............JAK

How is signing a petition going to affect the laws in a foreign country?

Anonymous said...

@3:50

I would think that if enough visibility is given to this situation and enough human rights organizations and non-profits let the voices of many be heard, there may be hope that this law will not be passed. I will spend 2 minutes of my time signing a position for human rights, in the hope it will help vs. ignore a call to action that requires very little of me and may help others in a very large way. That's my opinion. It may not help...or it may. I am on the side of doing something that may have a positive impact.

And to put this all in perspective...voting on a poll for the sexiest man alive or greatest American Idol doesn't do anything at all. It's just fun and people spend hours voting for that. Today I choose to spend 2 minutes of my day putting my name in writing to stop a travesty against human kind. It may help. It may not. But I will sleep well tonight knowing I took a stand.

I do understand your question. I, personally, choose not to stand silent.

Go you people, so proud to be a Glambert. Every time I see something so primitive and ignorant as this I am so happy I live her in New Zealand where our Gay brothers and sisters can marry, and have the rights that are deservedly theirs. Not saying there are not uninformed and prejudiced people here as well but the majority has spoken and our government listened. We actually had a reforendum and voted. Infact gay people have a high profile here as I have said before and I am proud of that.
It is heart warming to see letters to Adam etc about how his attitude to life and people has been such a positive thing.
Jadam.

This is so unfair. Makes you want to do more than just signing a petition but what else can we do?

I am upset with Adams tweet about "hunty" a term of endearment. He better learn what it means , before he calls his mother hunty.

Q102 vote Adam he is losing to David A.

Anonymous said...

Nope, it's neck and neck with a slight lead for Adam. I've been voting for an hour....not steadily, vote, play a favorite Dust in the
Wind, vote, play Ring of Fire, vote, play Want,
well you get the idea......I'm entertaining myself and voting, even though I think it's nuts!

It's a valid question, will a petition from the U.S. affect the voting in Uganda. We won't know, but we still are a major power among the countries of the world and new governments tend to play cosy when they may be asking for our help. Though how we are still doling out money when we are 10 years in debt I don't understand.

Anyway on the small chance we can help we should try........................JAK

The billboard fan favorite vote is a good one. Just type that in it will send you to billboard. Go down to other and type in Adam's name since he was left out. At least it will show how many fans he has. It will be broadcasted on May 22nd. I know the top idol poll is silly but I still vote.

@ Sister, I'm with you and am always shocked at mans inhumanity to man. There is power in numbers and these so called Christian missionaries are a disgrace to religion. They prey upon the ignorant and impoverished, spewing their insane rhetoric and this is the result. Apathy is another travesty. Each person can make a difference. A huge spotlight needs to be put on this issue before it's too late before multitudes of gays will be executed. Think Adam would rather we vote for this life or death issue before voting for him on polls that are for fun, even tho' they give him exposure. If you've ever seen the results of a hate crime up close, you wouldn't hesitate. I've had neighbors that survived the Holocaust and later cared for them in the hospital.I still remember them after all of these years. We need to be our "brothers keeper". Hope you all will take a minute and be heard. Off to twitter now..funbunn40

Almost 1 million people have signed this petition (a different one than Adam tweeted)! Also, there is a link to call your head of state...

@7;23
I just signed that petition. You should see how fast the numbers are adding up! People from all over the world are signing it! There is a counter at the top of the page. It is so encouraging to see so many people care.

Anonymous said...

Someone asked about how signing a petition could make a difference. On this site:
http://www.avaaz.org/en/uganda_stop_homophobia_petition?fp it says that with worldwide outcry this same bill was stopped from passing last year.

So, it looks like signing can make a difference.

A quote from a video I posted a while ago (don´t know if you saw it):

"How many gays must God create before we realize he actually wants them around?"

This is genocide. Doesn't it come under the peace-keeping domain of the United Nations? This is so primitive and retrogressive!

@Sister please feel free to speak your mind because such will help educate and enlighten the ignorant and misguided. The world needs more people like Adam and you who never vacillate but would rather take a stand in social issues as crucial as this one. I did sign the petition when the count was at 1.2M and noticed that thousands of signatures are counted every minute. The global response to this campaign is simply heartwarming.

The Golden Rule is LOVE THY NEIGHBORS and one of the 10 commandments is THOU SHALL NOT KILL. So i wonder who is the God that those Christian missionaries are serving! They must be worshiping the most hateful God one could ever imagine for them to allow genocide for the most absurd reasons. This Bill is certainly unfathomable, barbaric and evil. There seems to be no end to the brutality of the extremists in Uganda. It is also my prayer that the United Nations play an important role in blocking this most savage Bill of the century.

@Eva i saw the video and thanks for the link. That was a brilliant speech. And just like @ANON at May 11/9:12AM i also love the quote :D

At this time the count is already close to 1.4M and i'm truly overwhelmed with the global support it has been getting. Thanks to everyone here who took a minute to vote. For whatever it's worth, what is important is we tried to do something.

@Sister thank you so much for your posts and to you too @funbunn40 and @JAK.

Adam says strong and smart women are his favorite kind. He is really wanting Haley to win American Idol.
