According to CougA-dam from Adamofficial, Kara DioGuardi's new book "A Helluva High Note: Surviving Life, Love, and American Idol" mentions Adam.
Info from CougA-dam:
When she talked about becoming the fourth judge. She said she never watched the whole AI. She met the winners and wrote songs for them after. She wrote " They reroute some of the contestants from San Francisco to Los Angeles for the prelimainary auditions ( the ones prior to the auditions America sees on television). This is when she first met Adam Lambert. She wroted " He had a great voice, but was doing this very dramatic thing with his eyes. The producers weren't sure about him, speculating that Cowell might not like him" Then she wrote " but I said No way, We've got to put him through".. and thank God they did.. she said. " Can you imagine a Season 8 without his rendition of Johnny Cash's Ring of Fire, Tears for Fears' Mad World, or Nina Simone's Feeling Good?......"
Thanks to CougA-dam from Adamoffical!

How come everyone is writing book, I wish Adam will write one too. Where is him?. He is missing for somedays already.
thank God they put him through. I bet Kara will have a pretty interesting book! I must get it.
Frankly, she acts like she is the reason he was sent through. Plzzz. Randy and Paula saw his talent immediately. She was fairly supportive throughout though. I still credit Paula because she is the one that never had anything negative to say and saw that megastar in him from minute go. I won't read this book based on this. I don't like what she says in it per this excerpt.
Kara was in awe of the man and the voice. I think Paula is a smitten little kitten as well.
I agree with 9:55
It was PAULA who GOT Adam first. It took Kara ages till she started to like Adam. She kept going on about him being TOO theatrical.
Paula will always be the judge that got Adam from start till the end.
I have the same take on that, anon 9:55 As for Simon, IMO he needs to come out. He stated that Adam was 'too theatrical' at his AI audtion..which to me is code name for 'too gay'. Did you notice that he is engaged but never quite makes it to the altar? Same with Seacrest, who I think has a mad crush on our Adam. I won't get this book. I'll wait for Adam's version of things!
lmb
Paula was the one that got Adam from the start. I remember her every comment during AI run and she was always right.
Personally, I think that Kara had hots for Adam.
@10:45 AM
Who didn't "have the hots for him"??!! LOL! I'm pretty sure that every woman who Adam has ever met, is instantly charmed by him, and might have a few less than "platonic" thoughts about him. And men, both gay and straight, are quite impressed as well, needless to say.
I still don't get why they thought his eyes were "theatrical'..I think they got that mixed up with sexy. ; )
"Perception" is a funny thing.
It's interesting that each individual sees their contribution to a project differently. Obviously Kara believes that she provided the final impetus to get Adam on the show. I'll bet Randy and Paula have their own versions to that story as well.
As for the "he was doing this very dramatic thing with his eyes" comment....I say: he has a very sexy / sultry look about his eyes that just grabs you and holds you in his web, but I don't recall him ever doing "crazy eyes" kind of s**t that would be obvious and weird.
No offense to Kara, she seems to be a nice enough person... but me thinks she was imprisoned by his gaze and will never be the same.
(To that I say "join the crowd".)
PRS
According to the "Adam eye", no one in the last 20 years has that kind of eye power and voice, no wonder all human fall on him!
I remember Kara saying/doing: "So, do you think you are the next American Idol?" Long sexy wink........Then why does she throw it back on him "but he was doing this very dramatic thing with his eyes."?
I wonder if she mentions in her book that she wrote Strut for him. Someone will have to tell me 'cause Imma not going to spend money on her book. I have way too many copies of Adam's new album to buy.
Spock
AWW!! Adam's eyes!!!!She is captivated by Adam's gaze, she is married so she can't just come out and say that. She is smitten just like us and can't stop thinking about Adam. A History was made on Idol and she was up close when that magic happened, Lucky her and Paula to have witnessed such a megastar and had so called hand in this major history making moment....indigo
Adam does sometimes drop his chin a little and look at you as if over eyeglasses. That's part of his charm. To me it's like him saying wtf are you trying to get at?
I agree, Paula was the one , .& Randy too tho not as committed, knew w/o a doubt Adam was someone special!
For me , I keep going back to when Simon said "too theatrical", I feel like it wasn't what he said but what his true intentions were about Adam. I truly believe Simon knew Adam was different & original, & Simon knew he would put Adam thru no matter what. Remember, Simon isn't stupid, he's just well, didnt really want to just agree with the other judges, but he wanted to make his opinion count too, tho he knew he was just blowing smoke.
Simon was the judge who gave Adam the news , that he was going to be on AI (top 13 was it? Don't remember). .& Simon was the judge who spoke with Bono from U2 to get "One" for Adam to sing. Simon , IMO, knew who he was dealing with, AI 's international star! Oh yea , Simon mentioned that too along with Paula
comment of Adam being iconic!
Excuse me please, I know some folks don't like Simon's honesty & straightforwardness, but Adam appreciated his critique. Both men are very business smart & I trust their opinions. Mwah!! K
Sorry, forgot to sign my above post about Simon.
Let's get the facts straight: it was Simon who said Adam was too theatrical, and it was Kara, Randy, and Paula who urged Simon to say yes. Simon, by the way said Ring of Fire was " self indulgent rubbish," in case you have forgotten. Kara was a champion of Adam throughout. Paula critiques all of the contestants the same, but in actuality, she was originally pimping Danny Gokey, and so was Simon. When Danny feel by the wayside after his "Scream On" performance, Kris Allen starting showing popularity. In my mind, the powers that be didn't want Adam to win because they thought he was too edgy and wouldn't sell records, even though his fans were growing by the hour. I can't say whether Kris Allen actually won by taking Gokey's lost votes, or whether something else happened. I have always been dubious about the voting system on AI, since none of us really knows the true count.
There is no doubt in my MIND, that simon absolutely was going to put adam through no matter what. Simon was just being simon. Who in thier right mind wouldn't put him through and furthermore ,the producers shouldn't have any say in it - It's supposed to be about the best talent which it isn't anymore. To bad, I now like the voice better and I've watched idol since season 1. I'm for-ever grateful to that show however for bringing us adam!!!
Speaking of books, adam really should write one, clay akin did and of course, he was my idol back in season 2 and I bought it. It was very good actually, but I had NO idea someone called adam lambert existed and the rest is history!
Thanks, 10:21s for agreeing with me. Yes, theatrical was the word she used a lot. I think they read Adam's bio, and saw his theatre experience and pre-judged. As far as Adam's eyes, I have no idea what dramatic thing she is talking about. All I know is that all the judges at one point were very supportive - some more than others. Kara had great moments on AI with Adam, and Simon gave him a standing ovation. Randy was very cool, but Paula...she will always be the one I love most based on her insight, support and appreciation for Adam. I think that Paula should write a book. But, actually, the only book I want to read is one by Adam. That will be a bestseller.
I remember Kara being a big Danny Gokey fan. Pleez! She was so sad when he was voted off.
I think the book is her attempt to cash in before she is forgotten. No Boundaries was a disaster and they stopped doing it on tour.
Absolutely everyone is writing books, from Snookie to Bieber, who wrote an autobiography. Seen the word cheesy on this site today, and these books are consummate cheesy, especially all those written by the Kardashians, etc. Adam probably has more to say than all these people put together, but has not written one. Go figure.
I remember Adam said in an interview that the judges didn´t have much to do with the selection, who would get through or not, it was the producers. They wanted different kind of performers, a rocker, a country singer, a married guy and so on.There was another rocker who could have been chosen instead of Adam but he was lucky to get through, but not because of Kara.
OT: Could anyone tell me what the Kardashians are famous for? I sometimes, by mistake, find myself watching Showbizz Tonight and every time there are gossip about the Kardashians. They talk about them with loud excited voices and it is soooo boring. Have they done something remarkable? Do they have any talent in any area? WHAT?? They have stopped the Charlie Sheen shit, but the Kardashians are still going strong and are always news worthy.
Eva
@Eva
I don't understand this Kardashians, Jersey shore reality shows, so downgrading for women and they are huge hit for nothing. Such a dumb culture and it's making way to Canada. Hope we see more intelligent Adam in the future.
Always liked Kara and never understood the animosity shown towards her by AI fans. On that first audition, no one needed to convince Simon to vote Adam thru. I got the impression that Simon just didnt know what to think about this guy standing in front of them. Adam has said that in theater work, you have to project to the last row of the theater whereas on TV the camera is inches from your face. So probably that's the rationale behind the "too theatrical" comments, and I'm sure they helped Adam see that this was a totally different medium in which he was now entering. Hope I make sense! ... Sligo lambert ^______^cute:
not clear
@Eva - nobody on earth could tell you what the Kardashians are famous for ;)
Cassie
Many comments here are about the auditions we've seen on TV, but as far as I understand, Kara isn't talking about that, but about the prelimainary auditions, which aren't shown on TV.
Cassie
@Eva, I thnk the kardashians are praised for being smart & beautiful business women, I understand young girls, teen to early twenties, maybe some older look to these women for fashion & their lives are becoming soapoperas.
& wasn't their father an attorney for oj Simpson while he was on trial for murder?
Mwah!! K
Backstory on the Kardashians.
Robert Kardashian was a friend of OJ Simpson. OJ gave RK his golf bag before his arrest for the murder of his wife and Ron Goldman. RK's California law licence had lapsed but he renewed it so he could be on the "dream team" of lawyers for the trial. I always thought RK renewed his licence so he wouldn't have to tell what was in the golf bag...attorney/client priveledge. When the jury came back with the not guilty verdict, the look on RK'S face was one of utter disbelief.
According to Kris Kardashian herself, she was very upset because RK helped OJ Simpson legally (Kris was very good friends with OJ's murdered wife) and thus divorced him.
But Kris & Robert divorced in 1989, Kris and Bruce Jenner married in 1991. OJ didn't kill Nicole till June 1994, so Kris' story doesn't jibe with the facts. RK died of cancer in 2003.
I guess if you're the children/stepchildren and exwife/wife of a quasi famous lawyer and an ex olympic athlete that makes you quite special in L.A. (lala) land. I can't for the life of me come up with any other reason.

I think Simon was pro Adam from the beginning. He was known for his no votes during the auditions, but gave Adam a firm yes. It was all part of the whole. Even though Simon did not like Adam's interpretation on a couple of songs, he was one of his biggest supporters. Simon knows talent, and recognized it in Adam. He even did a turn about with the theatrics and said he thought that was what made S8 so great.
I wouldn't hold my breath waiting for a book written by Adam. I think he's told everything he plans to share. He had some nitty gritty years in Hollywood underground gay society that won't come to light hopefully. He is fortunate that he inspires loyalty in friends and former lovers. Cheeks was offered a bundle to spill details and didn't. I know as much as I want to of his past, I look forward to his future.
Anon 2;43, believe me it's not the peeps in LA who are watching and making these non talented women famous. ... Adamluv
So the Kardashians are like Paris Hilton, which to me is even a bigger mystery. A few years ago she was in all the gossip magazines and for what?? Smart and beautiful? No! She has an amazing singing voice? No! She changes peoples lives by being herself and an inspiration? No!
I feel bitter an cranky. Adam has disappeared and I´m longing and missing.
Eva
Adamluv: Using the term lala land for LA was perhaps harsh on the good people of So.Cal. It was more in terms of those in Hollyweird who dream up what they think the people will watch and then to their amazement people do in fact watch.
Anon 2:43
I've never been able to figure out what makes the Kardasians so "special" other than they are in a reality show...I know who they are, but that in itself sure doesn't make them important. I suppose its because they are rich and good looking, know a lot of other rich and good looking people, and live lives of luxury and privilege=Fantasy Land. I've never watched one second of it (well maybe 5 minutes..) and can't imagine I ever will. I have nothing against them, I just don't think they are worth paying any attention to..but what do I know??!! By the way, isn't Ryan Seacrest the producer of the "Kardasians"?
I only know all these untalented women has sex tapes all over internet.
@Glitzlady, yes, I believe he is! And to anon 2;43 - agree with your last comment. Thanks!... Adamluv
And then we can see Simon lovesssss Adam!
Lucky Kara to have her hand kissed by Adam!!
I'm going to read Kara's book at some stage. I find her interesting and I absolutely love "No Boundaries" and "Strut". I think she's sorely missed on AI. I like honesty from the judges, not crawling to the contestants as hard as they can or mocking a contestant for no reason at all.
Does anyone know if Kara has written any new songs lately? I'd like to hear her new work.
Kara wrote "Strut" with Adam and that song is one of those that will come around again and again. Still think it would be cool on the cat walk/fashion show scene. Just watched Sasha on SYTYCD tonight - she is killin' it!! In top 35 and next week, going for top 20. Adam must be so proud of her and he PICKED her out of a group for Glamnation - very wise Adam, dear!! She is obviously superior.
Indigo-where have u been?!! Lurking?!! So nice to hear from you!
Simon became an Adam fan early on. Rarely did he criticize Adam. Not only that, but remember how he kept hinting that the America needed to get it right and it was Adam that he was referring to?
Doubt I will buy Kara's book, although it might be an interesting read on the music industry.
I think the Adam eyes thing meant his makeup. He apparently decided to tone it down. His mom also talked with him about lessening the eye makeup.
Kara did also say Adam was theatrical and did not try to coerce Simon into saying yes to Adam. She only taunted him for dragging out his 'yes'.
@Adamluv, you comment does make a lot of sense!
@Eva, I don't get the Kardashian thing nor the Snookie and Paris Hilton thing either...puleez! Money begets money and fame I guess.
daydreamin
The only reason these no talent people have shows is because they are cheaper for the networks and because we have a country full of dumb people who will watch trash.
This stuff is not Masterpiece Theater!
