From Hollywoodreporter:

Go inside the world of Adam Lambert with Vh1, as Behind the Music explores the American Idol alum’s rise to fame.

Debuting on August 7, the special will chronicle Lambert’s personal and professional life over the years. From realizing he was gay in the 6th grade, to coming out at 18-years old and moving to Hollywood, the singer’s closest friends and family weigh in on his journey.

At age 19, Lambert landed a gig on the European tour of Hair, exposing him to a whole new world of sex, drugs and rock n’ roll. In the eight years that followed, the future glam-rocker was cast in various stage productions, including Wicked. At 27-years old, Lambert auditioned for the iconic Fox reality series for which he is now known, and quickly became a household name. Still, becoming an Idol finalist was only the beginning.

Also featured in the one-hour docuseries is never-before seen home video footage and interviews with industry experts and musical bigwigs. Guests include Lambert’s parents, childhood pal Scarlett Cherry, Island Def Jam exec. Barry Weiss, Idol’s Season 8 winner Kris Allen and The Hollywood Reporter’s very own Idol expert, Shirley Halperin.

Get to know the real Adam Lambert when Behind the Music airs on on Vh1 Sunday, August 7 at 10 p.m. ET/PT.

Didn't we already see this? I'm confused. There was a show that had his parents on and his friends, talked about his "coming out" and his life before Idol. So what is this and why is it different? Thanks for enlightenment :)

*gasp!*

Had to come up for air after reading some of the bickering and toxic comments on other threads! Jeeeeeez.

Just wanted to lighten the mood, and share this with the Glamily - hoping it'll make you laugh...

My son requested we listen to Adam's cd in the car this morning. He asked me to play a certain song...I couldn't understand which song it was...sounded like he was saying "...it's the one where he sings I'm a slave worker!..." Huh?? Then he said "...it's the one where he sings I'm a Sleep Wookie!..."

Finally figured out he wantd to hear "Sleep Walker" - HA HA HA HA!!!

I will, from here on out, think of that song as "Sleep Wookie".

@Adam Fix
Hahahahaha! That was so cute! And now I'll be thinking of Sleep Wookie too! Sooo funny! I'm sure Adam would die laughing if he heard that!

And speaking of Sleepwalker, or perhaps "Streetwalker" ; ) it was one year ago today that you carried your big bright hot pink 24/7 sign slowly up and down the line of people lined up for the Seattle Showbox Sodo GNT, making meaningful eye contact with many while looking for me, who had, fortunately for me, arrived there early and so was admitted into the venue bar to wait for the show. And later inside the venue, the guy who came up to you and and asked (hopefully..and again, with "meaning"..) "So what's the sign for anyway??" And after you explained you were looking for a friend from this blog, he replied to you "Oh...my friends and I thought you were a hooker!!" Ha!!! (And we never did connect that time, but OHH! What an amazing night!!)

One of the great and legendary moments in the history of 24/7...

****And for those who didn't hear the story, @Adam Fix and I did finally meet at the last GNT at the Club Nokia show in LA...even tho we live in the Seattle area...another amazing and never to be forgotten adventure, thanks to Mr. Adam Lambert...and 24/7 : )

glitzylady said...

@Anon 11:20 PM
You are thinking of "True Hollywood Story" which was shown on the E! network on November 21st, 2010.

Different show : ) Guess we'll see how its different when it airs!

Hollywoodreporter needs to check their facts a little better. Adam was not on tour with Hair at 19 he was on a cruise ship, the Hair tour was in 2003, and he auditioned for Idol when he was 26, he was on Idol at 27. Plus Scarlett Cherry was not a childhood friend, he met her in the company of Hair. His high school friend was Danielle Stori.

Any Glambert could have been more accurate, they need a new reporter.

@AdamFix, Thanks for lightening the mood! It's been pretty ugly on other threads. Needed this sweet diversion! Haha, so cute! How old is your son? It's now forever Sleep Wookie! I remember the hooker story and got such a kick out of it, wishing I was there with you and Glitzylady! You two would be sooo much fun! Those guys were probably hoping...lol funbunn40

Here is Sauli's latest (translated):

New Friends!
July 21st,2011 Writer: Sauli Koskinen

I deeply apoligize for everyone, who's had to wait this long for the newest blog. Sorry! I had a small problem with the internet connection and I'm not a wiz kid when it comes to anything technical, but now everything works and I promise be more active with my writing :) yay! Hmmm.. Where to start.. I have good news and some sad news and I will tell some sad news in the beginning. My lovely tutka wife Katri returned to Finland today and left me alone to this time zone. :( Now I feel so alone, but we agreed that we will continue our super Tutkas somehow. I just don't know how it's possible because Katri is in Finland and I'm here far away +10h time difference? So I'm asking ideas from you guys how we could continue making tutkas? I'm still emphasizing that I don't know anything about ay technical stuff, but thought about video phonecall type of Tutka? (does that sound nuts?) Now we should all push our smart head together and think of a great plan to make it happen.

Good news is that I found a new friend here this quickly. :) By accident I found a blog online and she wrote she lives in LA. Being the brisk boy that I am I sent her an email and we met for the first time yesterday. It's such great when I got a feeling, that I've known this girl for a long time already. No silent moments, we both had like millions things we wanted to say.. We walked on the Walk of Fame and I had just said how great it is to speak in Finnish when you can't see any Finns here. And no more than a couple of minutes passed when someone yelled in Finnish: 'Hey Sauli can we take a group picture'. Suddenly all around was people with waist bags and I still don't know what happened...I was so overwhelmed! :). What sort of Finnish day is happening here? Huh!! But the day was so wonderful.

(Picture)

Everyone must think how amazing it is to live in LA and what glamour life people must live here. I can tell you it's not always as great/easy as people think. When you move in here and leave all the friends to Finland and try to make new contacts. I've missed my lovely friends and family many times. Still there's no use in becomming a wall flower and even a bar rose is a better alternative.. Hah! :) Now I'm feeling pretty much like at home living here and I must admit it's wonderful to be here and it's always warm. Ah! Walk of Fame was once again packed, because there was the premiere of the new 'Captain America' movie and the red carpets and a big crowd of media. Some stars were also there, but I have know idea who. :) The one time I myself walked the red carpet and flash lights going all I thought was: 'breath, don't fall, smile, stand traight... Haha!! It's not the easiest carpet to walk. That was almost worse than any of the tasks in the Fear Factor a couple of years ago.. :)

(Picture)

Many people have asked the differences between Finland and America. Here's some tidbits and facts: 1. you never eat while holding a knife, you chop with the knife and then you place it on the table and eat witj your fork. Many have said to me that I have a weird way of eating, so remember that when you come here. 2. While driving you can always turn on your right even if the red light is on. 3. All alcohol is carried in a paper bag or you might get a ticket. 4. The top is always 20%. 5. Grocery stores everything is half bigger. 6. There about hundred million channels on TV and twice as much commercial breaks (most annoying thing in the world) :) 7. Americans are much more relaxed and friendlier than us Finns. 8. Move here!! ;) hahah!! (I promise to update more things that are different from ours). Next week I'm going on a little trip, but I'm not telling where yet. :) yay! ps. It's been wonderful to read your comments. :)

This is the normal happenings in Hollywood!

Interview from Matt Carter regarding Adam's supposed guest appearance on Project Runway:

Heidi Klum interview contains hints for Adam Lambert, ‘Project Runway’

The new cast. (Lifetime)

When it comes to talking about Adam Lambert’s oft-rumored (and pretty much close to confirmed) appearance on “Project Runway,” we finally have some more details when it comes to some of your burning questions.

For many of them, we turn to show host Heidi Klum — who spoke to USA Today shortly after the Emmy nominations were announced last Thursday to announce just how far along the series was in production:

“We have two more weeks to go. We have seven designers left, so we’re down to the wire.”

It was around this time that rumors of Adam filming a spot on the reality show were first starting to hit the internet, so conventional wisdom suggests that he was the guest judge for either the top seven or top six elimination (likely the former).

So when would this be during the season? Considering that there are twenty contestants and usually 13-14 episodes in a season, expect to see this on the tail end of the show’s run. The show premieres on Lifetime on July 28, but it will probably be at least mid-to-late September before he actually ends up appearing unless the schedulers pull something crazy. This does also debunk rumors that he will a judge during the show’s finale, which typically starts off with just four contestants.

We reported recent that we have a huge catalog of evidence that Adam did indeed film a guest spot — from being in New York City to a tweet of support from one of the show’s personalities to even a very strong suggestion from an RCA rep that the appearance is happening.

As always, we will have more news as it becomes available — but also take note that artists like to cross-promote, and this is around the time we will be hearing a good bit more about Adam’s upcoming musical endeavors.

Thanks daydreamin, so much great news; Sauli's blog is interesting. He says 1) you cut (chop...sounds like a butcher) with the knife and then place it on the table, so now your fork is in your left hand; do you eat with the fork in your left hand or switch it back to the right hand? And then when you want to cut again, you need to switch the fork back to the left hand; a lot of movements. LoL! :)

@daydream The person who does concert stats on MJs, for some personal reason of her own, deflated Season 8 figures. Her figures most of the time are off even worse than USAToday biased figures. She sometimes irritates me with her comments. I totally avoid that site for any information.

Sometimes people move to another city to be with their loved one and it is a big adjustment if they don't know anyone. And moving to another country would be even harder, but Sauli seems to be doing well. Really glad he could speak Finnish to someone.

(I uprooted myself twice to move to be with a boyfriend/fiancee and got dumped both times, gah!)
Well, they weren't as nice as Adam anyway ...

Anonymous said...

Thanks anon at 12:48am for clarifying all the misinformation about Adam in the introduction to the VH 1 program. As I was reading it, I thought some of the info did not seem correct. Can't wait to see the show next month. It was quite interesting to read Sauli's blog; he does seem a bit homesick. Also, I suppose he is facing what they call "culture shock" being here in America. I am sure that if I were in Finland and anywhere else in Europe for a while, I would be commenting about all the differences there too. Being with Adam and his friends probably has made it a lot easier for Sauli to adjust and try to understand all that we accept as normal in everyday life. Although being part of the Hollywood scene must be a fishbowl existence for Sauli with so much happening. He will have to get used to more red carpet appearances and the flashing lights whenever he is with Adam. All Adam's fame and success does come with a price...the lack of privacy and the paps following you everyone. So far he seems to have handled it very well with humor and politeness. With the release of his second album the privacy issue will become more difficult to maintain because we all know this is going to make Adam Lambert a superstar in the music industry once it is released.

@2:56 Yayy!!! Love Adam! 6 Mil. is before taxes, agent, and management expenses. I wonder what is the percentage of these expenses? 30 to 40 percent? Net might be around 4 mil.!? Carrie Underwood made 20 mil. last year. Her earnings were 40% of combined total Idol earnings of 50 mil.

Hope Adam's 2nd album and tour will surpass all them next year!

Anonymous said...

Congrats Adam! You made the Forbes list for 10 Highest Earning Idols! Tied for 2nd place with Doughtry, just behind Carrie Underwood is amazing! Wow....first year out of the Idol Bubble and such success! Adam deserves every dollar that's coming to him. He's such a hard working man. Continued success Adam!

I am so happy to hear that too. Adam worked so hard the last 2 years and he so deserved this. Do you think he can keep half after paying everything? Hard to tell. But anyway he won't be starving anymore. LoL. I know he will save a lot to make his next tour perfect. He is very dedicated to his work.

Anonymous said...

So good to read that Adam has become so successful since his appearance on AI . He works extremely hard as a performer and is very focused on giving his all to his music career. Adam does deserve every dollar earned and it's nice to see that he hasn't gone "crazy" spending money foolishly on houses, cars, etc. as we have seen with many of the rock stars/hip-hop performers with their newfound success. Hopefully he has honest people advising him and taking care of his welfare for the future. At least he won't have to borrow money from his father anymore to pay the rent and his bills.
Adam deserves all the fame, success and financial gain that will come his way. He is in a league of his own and the most talented singer in the music business today.

You're welcome for the picture... : ) ..loved it too!

About where Adam and Sauli met: they met after the GNT concert in November 2010 in Helsinki at Jenny Woo's nightclub. Sauli didn't go to Adam's concert. Sauli said Adam tapped him on the shoulder, they "smiled at each other and have been smiling at each other ever since." Sauli said that in a radio interview when he went back to Finland while Adam was in Russia, London , and Miami...and of course Sauli made his little side trip to London while Adam was there, to buy seeds for his fathers garden ; ) Those two are just so cute! They make me smile too...

In order for Adam to top Underwood next year IMO his 2nd album has to out perform his pre-Idol and Idol performances. I notice a lot of the fans still watch Adam's Idol and Pre-Idol performances more than his FYE and GNT performances. I hardly notice any of Underwood fans watch her Idol performances. Except her recent appearances on the show.

For God Sake! Just read the comment "THere were not to many people who knew about ADam Lambert!" What does this mean?
I didn't understand this comment!
There were millions of people who knew about Adam (still know about Adam but most of them don't support him)
Adam is always in trouble but he is only one evil and angel who are on the head of american music industry. My advise to Adam" Move to England or Canada, darling!
After all you will get fame, honor, and money (sorry, but this is very important part for rocker who still didn;t make his Bohemian Rapsody)'
However! This is about Rapsody, "One", Cry" and more classic songs I want to talk about.
I know,Adam, that you can't play any music instrument! So, how can you write any songs, Adam?
Is is fraud? Cause, if you don't know any basics music skills, you can't write any songs!
Please. ladies, if you think that you are very intelligent, try to explain to me how man who can't plain piano can write the song?
I graduated music school. So, I need to get professional explanation!
SAD AL

Anonymous said...

Is it me or is there something "weird" about the comments from SAD AL. They are ridiculous, not at all intelligent and make no sense in the fractured language that is used. Of course, you can write a song without playing a musical instrument or you have someone to collaborate with as you work on it. I don't get what the blogger is trying to say. Adam is a success, his name is known in the music industry and to the listening audience and he is definitely not always in trouble or evil. And Adam does not have to move to England or Canada to have a successful career in the music industry. These comments were annoying and just should be ignored.

Anonymous said...

@anon 8:27PM You can't write any song, if you don't have any music skills!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
After all, google GaGa or Steven Taylor, or any musician who wrote their own songs!
As far I graduated the music school, I know on 100%- it doesn't matter if you have collaborate somebody or not, you have to play the music phrase, you can't just sing it. Same as lyrics! How can you write the song's lyrics if you can't read!!!!

@SAD AL
Adam may not play a musical instrument, but he has his Voice, which is the greatest instrument of all. One doesn't need to play an instrument to write music. I would also assume he reads music. He has been singing and most likely reading music since he was 10 years old. I don't play an instrument (wish I could..) but I can read music, as I was in choir in school, just like Adam (only he is a WHOLE lot better than I am.). He can also write lyrics, which we can all write from our heart and soul. Most music comes from within ourselves, not from the instruments that we play. Playing an instrument is a nice plus, but Adam has all he needs within himself, don't you think?? : ) By the way, I don't claim to be intelligent...

Anonymous said...

@glitzylady
Oh, this is mean that ADam is only musician on whole music history who writes the songs without using any music instruments or any music basic skill!
By they way, how do you know about this? Did Adam tweet or send you any info on your facebook that he can't play any music instruments?
I just want to know why we never heard about this part of Adam music experience?
Anyway, again, google any musician who write the songs without music instruments!

@anon 9:06 PM What is your problem? I want to know the truth about the person I love and want to be fan forever!
And it is doesn't mean anything for me if Adam can play music instruments or write music or lyrics. I just want to know more details about his childhood and youth!
Sometimes I feel myself much older and more pessimistic than anybofy else on this blog.
I think I still can make the comments, as less admin will delete them from this blog as inappropriate.

Hi Sad AL, I have seen a video on youtube, you might have, where Adam was working with Ryan Tedder or some music producer. It shows Adam sitting casually on a sofa and Ryan Tedder (not sure) at the piano, synthesiser; Adam would sing/hum the tune/notes that come to his mind and Ryan Tedder would play it out and they go back and forth a lot. The tunes he hummed on this particular video was heavenly, even just a bit. His voice is his instrument, a remark made by a well-known soprano. As for lyrics, he writes from his heart and spirit. I respect your claim too.

@SAD AL King of Pop MJ didn't play any musical instrument. His voice was an instrument on its own. Barbara Streisand and Celine Dion don't play any instruments. My own cousin studied voice lesson in Vienna and had Opera trainer for 10 years. She has mastered all the vocal techniques and she doesn't play any musical instruments. What are you worried about?

@anon 10:02PM I never heard that Barbara Streisand or Celine Dion wrote the songs. Did you cousin write any? Don't think so.
I still don't understand the problem. NOne of us never will find about Adam's music education. As less Adam or Eber or Leila will make any comment about this.
After all, if we talk about Adam talent as music writer, "Aftermath" isn't the best song
from FYE CD.

@SAD AL yes, my cousin wrote bunch of songs with her husband and other musicians. I read somewhere that MJ wrote 300 songs that never made it to any album. I recommend you to go watch This Is It movie where MJ is telling musicians how he would like certain things to sound.

By the way, from what I have read so far from fans, most don't like Loaded Smile written and produced by Linda Perry who is one of the best well known producers in US Music Industry.

@SAD AL By the way, Adam got Grammy Nomination recognition by the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences of the United States as one of the Best Male Pop Vocalist of 2011. Are you saying you know more than the academy?

@anon 10:51 PM It was very wrong example, cause WWFM, which Adam got nom, was written by Pink.
Adam got nom as a vocalist but not as a writer or co-writer of this this song.

@SAD AL Check this video:

Adam wrote, produced, sang this song on his own on his home computer few years ago. If you tell me he is not a musician then I would tell you please follow another artist who plays instrument and leave Adam to his dedicated fans. Thank you!

@anon 11:14 PM I hope this is not the commercial for Adam new CD!
Cause nobody would buy it. Also, I am sure that Adam didn't create this tasteless video.

I have to disagree with you: We may indeed someday hear about Adam's "music education" in detail, and in fact we do know something about it already. He has been immersed in Vocal Music since he started in Children's Theater at age 10 and was involved in Music in school. His Dad had an extensive music collection, which Adam grew up with, and is another form of "education". Adam has had a long and varied career in vocal music. It's his life. He lives and breathes it. Singing IS music and Adam has a very fine education in that form of Music. He has had years of formal vocal training and was also trained in Opera. His voice IS his instrument. One does not need a doctorate in Music theory to create music.

I support your right to have opinions about Adam and I know you want for Adam the same things the rest of his fans do: happiness and success in his career and his life. I am excited about his new music. I think we'll be happy. I also have faith that Adam will give us some truly amazing music on his new album. So instead of worrying about how Adam is going to write his own music, join us in celebrating the fact that he will soon be entering the next phase of his career. Worry isn't good for your health or your soul. Try to be happy instead of sad, and give Adam a chance to surprise you.

@SAD AL, here is what I think you were looking for (we may never know if Adam actually writes the actual notes for his music, but he surely has complete control of the sound he wants and the lyrics for sure):

@SAD AL,
Aftermath is one of my favourites on the album. (Also love A loaded smile). On that poll 24/7 a few months back on which aftermath you prefer (acoustic, remix, original) I chose the original.

Adam can "play" the piano about as well as I can.
He did take piano lessons as a child. He didn't want to stay with it...same with me. However, I can play well enough one handed to hear the melody or even compose a melody. In that way I chose which songs to tell my school's music director to teach children for 4 musical shows a year for over 20 years. Most of us have seen a clip of Adam and Danielle at keyboards choosing one of his Idol arrangements. If you read music it's not that hard, but if someone asks me if I play an instrument I say "No"..............JAK

totally threw me back to 7th grade when my class was scolded for "feeding the clown." I totally agree with you. Ignore this idiot and shell disappear. Although I do agree with her about Aftermath and his "literal" writing skills. Drives me batty. Hope hes a bit more clever this time around.

The person named the Dean of American Songwriters was Irving Berlin. He was successful long before he could play an instrument.When he learned to play, throughout his entire life he could only play in F sharp. Just the black keys!

About Adam not playing an instrument: Singers with formal training, which Adam has had, learn all about reading music, learn about musical notation such as key, tempo, dynamics, etc. Vocal training is just like training for any other instrument. Choir and choral members read from sheet music and know exactly how to follow the music and what is expected of them. I'm sure Adam does this. Many great vocalists, past and present, do not play a musical instrument but do compose music and know all about how music is made. Adam's talents are NOT diminished by the fact that he does not play a musical instrument, other than his voice. Don't know where SadAl gets his misinformation.

Glad to hear somebody in this blog from music school. I played piano since I was a little kid, never have a chance to study music, I wish I can. Instead I took science but still manage to get couple certificates for teaching piano and I never teach anybody besides my own children. Never understand the needs of following all those music rules written by certain people. Hate to be told to play in certain ways and tried to remember all those countless # and b in one piece. IMHO, you don't need to read music to write music. Adam's voice as someone say is his instrument, his ability of using his operatic voice to incorporate into the pop rocky tune amazes a lot of people and he sound unbelievable. His emotion and life experience is his living music note. The instrument part can be really done by the modern technology. Have an ability play an instrument well does not mean you are creative. Adam's Fantasy spring WLL is a master piece to show off his raw talent but also with the creative piano player Zach if you listen carefully. I bet it will be different if somebody play the keyboard. Adam needs someone to match his talent in his band, not just play well technically, but someone can feel the music to make another master piece. Hope he can play with an orchestral someday. But if he choose to be in the mainstream, it really does not matter who is in the band, the most important is his voice. A unique voice from a century that will make him very successful in the end.

Forget to tell you a secret, when I switch playing classical music to Rock and pop, I almost get stoned from my family but who care. Hope you enjoy your music. :)

Anon 10:39 AM I know that you mean to be mean but I want to answer your guestions anyway. Adam and Sauli are still young, they have a lot of attractions around and Hollywood is not known for life-long relations so I think that its more likely that at some point they will break up than live together happily ever after. I also think its likely that they will always remain friends.

@JAK
I too can "play" the piano to the extent that I can pick out a melody, etc., but I definitely don't "play an instrument". And I played a "song flute" in elementary school, as part of music education but again, I don't play an instrument. That definitely doesn't count! I do however sing, with some minor ability and even "starred" in a musical at my (very liberal..) church about 10 years, ago, much to my shock and horror (I was tricked into it!). I guess my voice is my instrument, although mine is at about 5 on a scale of 1 to 10, with Adam's being somewhere above a 10...

Thanks for remembering that Adam has taken piano lessons. I was thinking he had, but wasn't sure. I know that Neil plays very well, and I can't imagine Leila would not include Adam in the piano lessons, at least for awhile.

@922am Your common sense is refreshing. Too many fans live in a fantasy world where Adam and Sauli will surely get married, adopt kids and live happily ever after. Not bloody likely IMO.

Anonymous said...

@9:22 and 11:05AM. I wish people wouldn't start predicting the end when they've just begun. They're young, but not that young and Adam was openly looking for a serious relationship. Nothing's for sure, but they seem like a good match. Whatever happens, it's not a fantasy, it's their real life.

And on another topic, Adam's songwriting skills? Personally I'm not worried at all, Adam#2 will be exactly like he wants it. You can never please everyone, but you can stay true to yourself. I want him to be happy with it, his dream album. Following his music and life is always interesting.

Being able to sing 'Come to me, bend to me' from Brigadoon to 'Pop goes the camera' and everything in between shows that Adam is truly aware of his instrument and knows what he is capable of creating with it. That the man is amazing is an understatement in spite of the fact that he does not play piano or guitar.

It has been said many times that he is an 'old soul' which to me means that he is wise beyond his years. I for one will take this old soul with his vocal abilities over anyone else. He knows what he wants to create and he surrounds himself with people who 'get' him and his talent.

Miranda Lambert - not related to Adam (as far as I know). :) A country music artist.

Miranda Lambert, country artist, just married Blake Shelton, country artist, and recently a coach on The Voice. Not related to the Lambert whom we all know and love.
