A thought inspired by Albert Einstein, an acclaimed scientist of the century and all time:

"Everything that can be counted does not necessary count; everything that counts cannot necessary be counted."

Congratulations! to Adam as a nominee for the DSA.

Always fun seeing our handsome Adam... but I don't get it, or more appropriate to how I really feel... WTF??? Is there some other requirement I don't know about what qualifies for an award here?? I thought Adam was also nominated for CHARITY:Water that fans so donated much $$ for in such a short time?? All 3 charities were listed on his voting page. No?? Just the Trevor Project?? A worthy cause for sure but didn't raise nearly as much $$ as CW. For the viewing public who don't know anything else but only the the news they are SHOWN--- *and yet again puts the focus more on the Gay aspect.)

Damn I can't help it. I just can't stand Bieber (& the 12 yr olds who support him.

Frustrated and very tired right now...

Cindy, you said it all.

Less than two minutes with Adam, one hundred and eighteen minutes without Adam. Sorry, I counted.

Cindy, I wish I could shout it out like what you just did, but I am by nature not like that; I am also quite fed-up so I am going to echo you...WTF??? (Guess I am learning fast from you guys.)

I just am not going to let myself go there. Adam got visibility. He got to present. He looked amazing and did a great job presenting.

I don't understand why they only focused on The Trevor Project (maybe a timeframe for the award?), but each of the nominees did some really good work for charity.

Yeah, the Bieb won. He took 1 dollar from each ticket and ended up having enough to build several schools around the world and that is good work. I am not going to bash his or anyone else's efforts for charity.

I liked that they used WWFM for the song for Adam's spot. It will bring more people on as fan's who may not have been aware of the song. It's all good.

And the little bit he did was fun. He looked fabulous "in black".

I hope this thread doesn't do a nose dive. I hope we can celebrate versus bash on this one.

Let's be charitable. It is afterall about charity. :)

I liked the quote alot. :)

Cute, Adam in un-hip black... reminds me of that british interview when Adam was wearing brown and the interviewer said that Adam looked like a hip funeral director or something like that... Then Adam replied that the interviewer looks like a dead politician... hehehe

Not bashing here .. just commenting ... WHY?? Why wasn't ADAM asked to perform?? Why is he always asked to Grin & Bear it at these damn award shows while others are BORING us with their entertainment (Ryan Tedder & B.o.B.) I could only watch ADAM's presentation & the vid of his nomination & Demi Lovato. Changed the channel for all the rest. Too frustrated ... got some bad health news today ... maybe that's it. Just a thought ... maybe they didn't say anything about DonorsChoose b/cus the other two guys got credit for it ... don't know ... ADAM deserves so much more recognition than he got tonite ... JMO

Yes, @sister, VH1 gave Adam quite a bit of visibility and I loved it. The only thing I missed (ok I'm kind of selfish) was that cute shiny shoe award. I wished he got that as well. But hey he looked lovely on my T.V. I have it recorded and I'll watch it again tomorrow morning. He looked so adorable. Love you Adam!

Anonymous said...

I don't know, Adam as a nominee and ending up clapping for others is getting too frequent and irritating. Thanks Sister for liking the quotation; I thought Adam should have been given an award maybe not the winning award. Commenters openly professing they owe their lives to Adam...this is what Einstein's quote is all about. Not only that, his charity water site crashed, yes an historic crash, a first in a water charity drive!

Wasn't GG nominated in the same category as Adam? She didn't get any kind of coverage for her effort about DADT. Maybe VH1 homophobic a little!? I'm sure if we put more effort in voting so Adam would win this award he would have mentioned his other charity projects! Maybe next year after his second album he can get some of Bieber fans to vote for him for the win much better looking shiny winged shoe award! Love him though no matter what!

So...I thought the show was relatively entertaining. It moved along reasonably well. I was really so impressed by the "real" finalists who have done so much to help others. .And....It was actually rather nice to know that so many positive things are being done by those celebs who are giving back too.

And of course seeing Adam (and Sauli!) was fabulous! They are such a great looking couple. I also enjoyed seeing Elton John and David Furnish nominated as DoSomething Couple: perhaps someday Adam and Sauli..who knows! He didn't perform but I think it's really nice that he was a presenter, and the little banter that he and Rose McGowan did was cute. ...AND it explains why Adam wore the all-black outfit! Predetermined.. He HAD to wear black! I look forward to the day when he is the host of some awards shows, etc..Perhaps guest- hosts a talk show.. He would be so good! Hearing/watching Adam sing is just the best, but listening to him talk is pretty wonderful too! I'll take whatever I can get!

I think too that although its too bad Adam didn't win, we know JB has a TON of fans so was just a matter of numbers. And he's done some good things too. Yes, its also a shame that they didn't include more of Adam's charities, but perhaps his "It Gets Better" Campaign video and his Trevor project "Aftermath" contribution of all proceeds from the Remix is more wide-ranging and perhaps will as a result bring in some more funding (via the Remix) for the Trevor Project. And perhaps more new fans for him. The positive exposure is always a good thing. The video that was presented was great too. He looked SOOO good in both the WWFM vid and the It Gets Better vid. I'm happy that he was nominated and was able to appear on the show. And most of all, I'm glad he's such a generous man with his charity work. Its all good as far as I'm concerned.

In reality, the true winners of all of this, are those who were helped, not only by Adam and his fans (our support of his charities..), but by the other celebs and their own charities. Really THE most important thing..

I really enjoyed Demi Lovato's performance of "Skyscraper". I haven't really paid much attention to her as a singer but I thought she was very good. As we know, those in attendance most likely heard an even better sound (just like Adam's live performances are the best..). I'm glad Adam was so supportive of her.

And in reference to comments above: I have to agree: the term "WTF?" has become part of my vocabulary..Its very useful..

@tess4ADAM
I hope things improve for you health-wise. Will be thinking of you. And thanks for all you do supporting Adam in all of the many voting opportunities. If we were all as dedicated to voting as you are, Adam would probably win just about everything! Someday, he will....

I hope it's soon ...can't wait for his new album ... my health is just another 'bump' in the road ... more work for me ... enough about that ... BTW ... I just loved ADAM's outfit ... @ Fan4fun....tess4ADAM....P.A.S.

I was hoping for a spot where I could find all of you...perhaps this is it. I address it to you that I know are "dealing" with health problems but it's really for everyone who deals daily with life in general.

"Some days there aren't any trumpets...........
Just lots of dragons
Courage doesn't always roar
Sometimes courage is the quiet voice
..........at the end of the day saying.........
"I will try again tomorrow."

I don't know who wrote it but I keep it on a small card by my bed and read it at night when I'm going thru various "learn to live with it situations". Each morning as we meet over the coffeepot my husband and I don't say "How are you today?" We just chirp "trumpets" on rare good days or grumble "dragons" on frequent bad days. Saves a lot of forced pre-coffee chit chat!

I would like to wish you all a trumpet day...JAK

Dear Friends, I posted 2 months ago about the passing of my brother Tommy, I was asked to keep in touch, reality is setting in, there is a huge silence on this Earth, the sound of Tommy's voice. Before he passed away he gave my mom a big envelope with poem's he wrote...who knew? I would like to share my favorite with you..

The Moon my Sister, once we were as one,
still at night you burn brighter then the sun.
The positions you hold keep the ball together,
your phases come and go and determine our weather.
As I gaze into the big night skies,I look into
your big bright eyes, I ask the age old question, Why?........Tommy

I plan on putting a small book together.
Also, I treated myself to Adam's Peace necklace today!
Love, Donna

@ Donna

That is lovely and as a discovery of your brother's poetic nature must make you so proud of him. I lost my brother during the past year also and he too left a legacy, but it was one he didn't know about....7 months after his death his grandchild McKenna Grace was born.

I think your book idea is a great one. <3...JAK

Great to see that celebs are doing their part by giving back and supporting various causes around the world. Their fame and success do bring certain issues to the forefront and help those of us who also want to contribute to the cause/charity/foundation. The great part was seeing all those young people devoting their time and talents to help those around the world who need support and recogntition. And then there was Adam, looking terrific, speaking so well and enjoying himself. One day soon he will be receiving the accolades and awards that he so rightfully deserves. We as his fans know all the charitable work that he does and supports. And we love him for it. Any opportunity to see Adam on a show is a good day/night for me. Would like to have seen Adam perform, but I suppose they are waiting for the new album and first single to get him back on stage. Ellen and Jay Leno would be the best platforms for him to introduce that new first single to the public. They both like Adam and have supported him in the past. So we just have to be patient and be satisfied with any little bit of info or pictures we get at this time.

A wonderful TRUMPET DAY to you JAK! & to Adam & to everyone on this site!
Yes anon 6:18 ! Someday , Adam will receive his highest reward!
It's funny to me though, wherever Adam goes, all the people around him just walk on by no time to see , hear, or feel Adam's magic! The audience here have no idea what a very special human being they have in their presence! When people stop & see & hear & feel this magical being, they will applaud & realize what a wonderful gift Adam is to our world! I may be nuts, but there is something very special & unique about Adam! Mwah!! K

Donna, your brother's poem brought tears to my eyes. I lost my mother last November and miss her every day. My comfort is that we will meet again in heaven as you will meet your beloved brother once more.
JAK - my condolences on the death of your brother. I so admire your upbeat nature in your posts no matter what is happening in real life. The birth of McKenna Grace is a blessing that life continues and your brother's presence will be felt in his beautiful granddaughter.

Adam is sooo charismatic, but someone needs to take away the eyebrow pencil. I agree He's promoted so many projects,Donor's Choose, Charity Water, and the Trevor Project. I wish they would have mentioned these too.

First of all, good health to all hear who need a little boost from the Glamily. We're always here for suppport. As for Adam, he couldn't have looked better, high hair, eyebrows and all. Love him at all times. His look will change, don't worry. He was so smooth and natural on stage. Born to be there. Wish they'd mentioned his other charities, too, but I feel just being there with so many A-llsters is a compliment in and of itself. As for Bieber, well, he does what he can with what he has. No hate here.

I sorry for the loss of your brother, Tommy, but I feel so honored that you shared your brother's poem here with us. Truly honored. It gave me chills and brought tears to my eyes. You are very lucky to have had someone so special in your life to love and love you back. Thank you for sharing a part of yourself and your life with us.

@tess4ADAM

I am sorry to hear that you are having health issues right now. I hope it is resolved quickly or that you are able to manage it well. We want you happy, healthy and here! :) Become a "dragon" slayer!

@JAK

I love the "dragons" and "trumpets" story that you shared. I try to look for positive in all things, even when hitting bottom, which I know can be very hard. With your permission, of course, I would love to adopt dragons and trumpets in my life! Honestly, you and your husband seem to have made such a wonderful life for yourselves and it seems that you have a postive, joyful, creative and supportive life together...filled with lots of humor I am sure. I hope you are having a "trumpet" day today! :)

@P.A.S.

I hope you have a "trumpet" day today too and that your dragon runs off with it's tail between it's legs. :)

@Glitzylady

You said so eloquently what I tried to say. Thank you.

I think so much of the frustration comes from our love for Adam and our hopes that he reaches his full potential in all things. We see his "dragons". They are often invisible and sometimes very obvious. When someone is groundbreaking, which he is, things don't always go smoothly and easily. I think we see that with Adam and those dragons are what we percieve as the "injustices". Luckily for us, Adam is postive, strong, determined, resilient and a force to be reckonded with. He will be at some point on everyone's radar, they will be clammoring for him, and he will have slain all his dragons. Fortunately, he has an army of us Glamberts watching his back and supporting him in his efforts to do just that! :)

Yes, I am loving the dragon / trumpet thing. LOL.

A trumpet day to all!

OT - Fred Karger update

First, I have to say that I have never voted Republican. But I will tell you, Fred Karger, Republican candidate for President, is slaying those dragons! He "hand-delivered" a 185 page complaint letter to Murdoch of FOX. For those who aren't aware, Karger was excluded from the Presidential debates on FOX, even though he met all the criteria. He just happens to be an openly gay man. hmmm. This guy rocks! Fierce and fearless. I have to find out more about his platform. He says, no more Mr. Nice Guy. :)

I too felt that Adam should have performed last night. But taking it all into account, he was nominated, presented an award with class, style and humor, the cameras caught him and Sauli numerous times as well. I believe Adam was showed respect last night by VH1 and the audience that was there.

Adam's next album will set the bar sooo very high for other artists in the industry. We as his fans will be there for Adam every step of the way. He will WIN awards in the future - it is just a matter of time!!

@tess4ADAM and all of those who have health issues, take care. I am reading Betty Degeneres' book about Ellen. In it she has this quote I am putting below -@JAK loved the dragon and trumpet poem! I think this is a good thing to think about when you have a lot on your plate.

"All of us are standing in the mud, but some of us are looking at the stars." Ida Lupino

(One star I particularly enjoy looking at is Adam M. Lambert!

@ Sister

I applaud Karger for making the decision to "kick up a fuss", if he's around long enough I will look further into his platform..........
but sadly I believe it would take a realignment of the stars for the first "openly gay" person to become president in the next century.......
and if they did I'm sure they would meet with the same obstacles that the first "openly black"
president is meeting with today.......JAK
Beware..dragons everywhere!

I watched the entire show just to see glimpses of Adam in the audience after his presentation. He did a great job. Listened to Ryan Tedder and One Republic...not so good. He sounded off esp. towards the end of the song. If Adam were up there performing, he would have been spot on. He doesn't need auto-tuning, any bells and whistles to sound perfect; he is. Adam is in a league of his own musically and would outshine most other performers. We, as his loyal fans, all know that. I think with the release of his second album everyone else will realize what a true talent he really is.

gave me a happy moment....all thru my growing up years my mother would say to me in exasperation,

I don't understand how my comment was "trite" (which means - repeated too often or over familiar through repeated overuse). I said it once! Perhaps you should just skip my comments when you see my tag.

Oh yes, now I know what you're talking about. I've never seen the show but it's a big hit with my grandson and his college friends.

I'm not surprised the "stars" quote came from Ida Lupino. When I was a child I saw her name as an actress on movie screens and then when I was a teenager I saw her name as director on movie and tv screens. She was a smart cookie!

When I said it came off as trite to me, I meant that it rolled off your tongue a little too easily; therefore you more than likely used it often in speaking, not posting.

It is not necessary to define words for me (or others on this site). I teach ESL and am not the complete idiot you assume me to be.

You will only know how I feel when you have lost the one in your life who prefers silence before his coffee.

It is my hope that you and your husband both live to be 100 and are lucky enough to die at the same moment so neither of you feels the loss of the other.

Peace

BTW - It is difficult to skip your tag when you sign at the end of your posts which in many cases are filled with information and therefore quite long.

Do you think I have no idea what loss feels like?
I've lost my parents, my brother, 8 aunts and uncles and 6 cousins, there is no relative still living who remembers me before the age of 23. I've lost every childhood connection. I have only 5 relatives of my blood left alive..2 daughters, 1 grandchild, 1 nephew and his new baby.

I doubt that you will understand that I don't think I would feel lucky if my husband and I died at the same time...I wouldn't wish that degree of grief on my children.

JAK - My god, woman, you say you're 75 years old. In that time you've learned to put your wide vocabulary to very good use to put the screws to anyone who doesn't agree with you on any subject about which you choose to write. It might behoove you to act your age and be humble once in a while, but no, you must always be right no matter what. I've never seen you apologze to anyone upon whose toes you've stepped and I've seen several who've mentioned you by your 'tag.'

A four hour headache is not a migraine, it's your conscience bothering you...oops...sorry...you don't have one.

I'll bet it was just peachy to be your daughters, trying to live up to what you did at their age. All your adventures had to leave you with good things to hold over their heads. Oh yes, I remember you were the runway model, weren't you.

You can always call on your college friends, you remember the ones, the Federal Judge and the Professor Emeriti? You were going to sic them on some poor individual a week ago who dared to challenge something you said.

By the age of 75, most of us have lost our parents, our aunts and uncles, siblings and probably many cousins. It's called life, my dear. You had a golden opportunity to show your kinder side to a widow and instead you threw her under the bus by once again being so self righteous. I, Me, My are the only pronouns in your vocabulary. You can consider me...

Wow. What's this all about?

I personally like JAK alot and enjoy her stories, her humor and loved the crazy bantering that she and I and some others do. She is a delight to have on this site.

I don't understand how someone can come to dislike someone so fervently who simply posts thoughts, ideas and stories on a blog. It seems like a really extreme reaction to me.

You seem to be carrying either a lot of anger or a lot of pain. For that I am sorry. And I am also sorry for your loss. And I mean that sincerely. From your words, your pain seems so raw to me.

But, again, to me, JAK is a joy and I don't like to see her bashed by anyone. She didn't deserve that personal attack at all.

Life is hard enough. We should all try to come from a kinder place.

You know I don't follow every thread on this site, but tonight I have really been floored. What I have always enjoyed about this site is seeing tags I recognize.
Adamluv and glitzylady..it will soon be a year since we met at the GNT in Puyallup! I have been able to say what I think and take what comes...but this JAK bashing is really strange. I still don't understand what was so awful about the coffee chitchat. We can get OT once in a while, but people have made friends on this site from all over the world! I think that is just wonderful.
I leave you with this Irish blessing:

Blessed are they who know how to laugh at themselves, for they will never run out of amusement.
In these tough times, we need to hang together.

Hugs and Rainbows

@Sister:

I am not the widow. I simply tried to stick up for someone who was put down so mightly by JAK. JAK challeged a dragon and I took up the gauntlet.

Talking about offensive and condescending, THAT took the price by far. You must have serious issues and it´s sad you feel you have to take that out on JAK.
JAK, you know we love you. Dragons are not for real.

Okay, I got your message...obviously you don't read all my comments or read them very well.
This whole mess started with a tempest in a coffee cup and I apologized that my mention of early morning coffee upset someone! I have apologized several times...last time was on the Sauli mohawk hairstyle thread. You can look it up.I inadvertently hurt someone's feelings and apologized for what they felt was an insensitive remark.
I have mentioned I love an exchange of opinions and feel everyone has the right to express theirs. Even me. I even like SAD AL!
I did not sic my friends on anyone....I was
explaining that they gave me the nickname I use as a tag and that though they became successful in life they started out as silly teenagers, as we all do.
My conscience and I are at peace and my migraines are genetic....a legacy from my dad's family.
My daughters like me just fine and are my best friends and co-adventurers....Modeling paid for my textbooks which was a necessity not an ego booster.

I didn't "pick on a widow" she found something to be ticked off about in my comment to Fan4fun,
P.A.S. and tess4ADAM....a quote I had found that helped me thru difficult days and hoped might help them also. Perhaps you should re-read it. Do you find it offensive?....She implied that I didn't know what loss felt like...I do.

I have had an anon. shadow who enjoys taking
"sort of polite snarky pot shots" at me since shortly after I started posting and commented that in my old age had become more liberal in my thinking and politics. I think even at my age you can and should continue to grow. That set her off! So she lies in wait to pounce occasionally. I've gotten used to her....I find it hard to understand why my decision to be cheerful and love life in spite of the pains, both physical and emotional that come with it,seems to piss some people off.....one of the reasons I ended up here is that I saw a joy in Adam that I found warming and enchanting. I think he chooses to be happy too! The End...JAK

My thanks to my defenders! <3
