Wow! I am so impressed at how eloquent Leila was in expressing herself - and, of course, Adam was equally eloquent and a bit humorous, as he usually is. What an amazing mom and son. So happy for both of them being honored this way and will always be an ADAM fan forever. He is such a special man in so many ways.... LL

I hope one day if or when I have a son I have this kind of bond. their bond is so beautiful. There is nothing more beautiful than a son and mom relationship.

After ADAMs tweet today this just proves how heart breaking and heartfelt this whole matter can be to so many beautiful people. ADAM stands true and strong in this world of wonder! Unfortunately, though there are still so many scared, hateful and uneducated people out there who live in the Dark Ages. "A Change IS Gonna Come'!

What beautiful, eloquent speeches by leila and Adam. I see so much of her in Adam. They both are sociable, people conscious and freely speak from the heart with no need of a prepared speech. The sincerity and humble nature of their speeches speaks very well of them. You can see the love and respect they have for one another. I wish it could be that way for all families. Adam was indeed fortunate not to have had to live with condeming, short-sighted parents that could have destroyed his self worth and confidence. What a tragedy it would have been for Adam to be lost to suicide, drugs, etc.Instead he flourished and became the caring, decent man he is today because of parents that educated themselves and lovingly supported their sons. Neil also is his own man and has pursued his path successfully. I think Adam has already made a difference and will continue to do so, hopefully by example and supporting others, helping to take away the misconceptions and prejudices that still unfortunately exist. Thanks too, 24/7 for posting this so quickly.Leila looked beautiful and nice to see Adam in the blue sports coat for a change, so handsome! funbunn40

My son and I watched the song Gaga dedicated to Jeremy and then we watched this with Adam and Leila. Lots of tissues for me tonight. The night I was installed as President for my chapter, a woman walked in expecting it to be a regular support meeting. I briefly talked to her and hope to see her at the next support group. Her brother had come out to her...and only her...a few weeks ago. You could see her struggling. Anyway, I was able to bring a smile to her face before the festivites began and of course, I had tissues. If you ever have a chance to join your local PFLAG chapter, please do. Come to meetings as a straight ally. Adam has grown so much and he can continue to do so much for these poor kids who feel so alone. Sorry to go on so. So glad my son is exactly the way he was born...and so glad Leila and Adam were there when I needed someone that felt the way I did!
Also, thanks Glamily. This is the BEST group of friends to have late at night because you all understand so much.

What a joy listening to Adam and Leila speak. I have a constant smile on my face watching them. You can feel the love and respect between them. How lucky they both are to have each other and of course Eber and Neil too. They are just a lovely family and true role models for all of us.

Thank you, too, to 24/7 for posting this wonderful video so quickly. I really appreciate it.

Boy, Adam's gonna need an additional room in in house just to hold all the awards he's been getting lately!

Now I know where Adam honed his eloquence and spontaneity, from his dynamic Mom, Leila. Congratulations Mother and Son team on your well-bestowed awards. Adam looks really smashing and endearing in that stylish suit.

@lmb...Congratulations on your promotion as President of PFLAG (WA); I don't know what state or city WA stands for, I read your previous comment. :)

I don't know much else to add that hasn't already been said.I just love Leila,& how close she is to Adam.such beautiful speeches also. The Jamey suicide is so sad.My last post got sort of "lost"...I think it's still under another thread, but way back now.Let's show our support for Adam( & Allison) on the AIOTM..it does show everybody that BB is still thought of every day & he's always very high in our minds even w/o an album out yet.Take all the time you need,Adam.I'm sure it will be wonderful in Jan.,or whenever it's released.also on the single..hope it's soon, but don't rush anything. We love you!!The url for AIOTM is http://tweeter.faxo.com/american_idol_of_the_month/2011/08

I think why people don't vote is because you need to be on twitter or facebook and I have these accounts but don't want my info on them....

LMB How do you find a local chapter of Pflag?
**ON that note I just wanted to thank Adam and his Mom for all they do. I know what my story is with my son and I know how much it means to me to hear these positive stories about the support from families. Thanks to all of you who support us in our quest for equality. Their speeches were moving and so authentic. What great roll models for parents and kids to see. Love does over come all hate when families support one another. Even though I am a fan of Adams music I am a fan of him as a human being just as much!
You just cannot help but to admire him and his MOM!

Adam and his mom ARE inspirational. I wish that every single child (gay or not) will have the chance to grow up without bullies. Bullies do have long lasting effects. I sent my shy son to school a happy little boy and now after years of bullying in school he is an angry adult and every once in a while I see the sweet spirit come out again. This is why, although I do have any gay children I can totally relate to the bullying they receive. It breaks my heart. I support Adam 100%. I loved him before I knew he was gay and my love grew after hearing that he was. A beautiful person for other struggling children to look up to and gain strength. Now, the schools need to live up to their anti-bullying rhetoric and get some real rules and consequences in place to support all children that need it.

To be clear in my previous post...I do not have gay children (I was a little emotional so forgive me for the typo) but my message is... we all need to work together so that all of our children are loved and nurtured at home and at school. School administrators need to provide a safe, learning atmosphere for ALL their students and consequences for those that choose bullying.

Not only are we fans of a great singer/performer, but we are also the fans of an intelligent, articulate, poised, socially aware, hard-working young man. How lucky can we be? I can see where Adam got his well-spoken poise and his ease in front of the camera. Leila is a doll and raised a wonderful son.

There's tons of pics of this event on Getty images so that idea that Sauli wasnt allowed to go because he works in the media is bull.

Adam has been very fortunate to grow up in an open minded family. His parents also knew how to nourish his creative side from early on. And now all of us can enjoy his amazing talent and charm. It's lovely to see how proud Adam and Leila are of each other.

How any open minded person can watch/listen to that video and not be impressed is beyond me. Havent said this in awhile but I simply adore that man. ... Adamluv

Love that Adam and his Mom are being recognized for the positivity they stand for which is helping so many who might be struggling. So Adam, don't be surprised if somewhere down the line there is a call for you to run for some kind of political office--you have the moral grounding, charisma, and spunk to do it!!

Adam is only 5 thousand $$$ away from meeting his charity goal of One million $$$$. Let's honor his efforts toward helping the gay teen community by purchasing his Peace pendant, ring or earrings--all count toward this goal. Or purchase a gift for a friend. Pennyroyal says it will also help you to gift it anonymously to someone who wants one but cannot afford one

@BS
Here's how you find a local PFLAG chapter:
go to pflag.org. Click on the Chapter info on the left side. This sends you to another page. Click on Find a chapter. Put in your state etc. Good luck;)
Regarding someone who said this was a pretty boring group. I know you didn't mean to insult this "older" group, but the parents I have met have done things like go to court to adopt the exchange student they were housing because he came out to them and his parents were non accepting...and if returned to his country he could be arrested.
I have met parents who continue to lecture and march even though they have lost a child to AIDS, a hate crime, or suicide. These are true "warriors" fighting for all the"outlaw" children and I would never be bored by their stories, and I am always honored to be in their company.

As they say, the apple doesn't fall far from the tree. Adam and Leila are both personable, articulate, smart individuals who show so much respect and understanding for the LBGT community. Adam was raised in a liberal, loving, understanding environment and nurtured by Leila who has been with him every step of the way from that first day at AI auditions and now to receive this honor with her son. I think Adam has already made a difference in the lives of so many people, both straight and gay. He has had a positive effect on so many and continues to support the causes of the disheartened and disillusioned in our society. I understand that music is the most important thing in Adam's life and I love his vocal talent, but he has not forgotten the social issues that he has championed for quite a while. There is much to admire in Adam Lambert and his mother.

CONGRATULATIONS TO ADAM AND LEILA! Both are equally deserving but my special thanks to Leila for the incredible way she has supported and nurtured Adam in his formative years. Without his parents' wise decisions and guidance, it would have been a more terrifying condition for Adam but they allowed him to freely express himself. The very reason why we have a fascinating artist with character and integrity. I salute you both for this recognition. I hope that parents with kids who are different could learn a lot from people like Adam and Leila so that more lives would be saved.

@lmb, BS and Cheril - i also want to thank you so much for your insightful posts :D
