That comment "the new Freddie Mercury" is going to piss off a lot more Mercury fanatics. Poor choice of words.

American Idol Winner... funny. I think why the Mercury fans are upset is because Adam is so good. He is threatening to them.

How many times has Adam got to say that , first, He is not taking Freddys place, that he is paying tribute to him.
Second, he is only doing one concert.
Third that he has to release and promote his second album.
Fourth, he will be touring for his own album,
Fifth, if it could be arranged to fit into his very tight schedule, he MIGHT do another concert.
You have to realise that you do not just show up for a concert, it takes time for arrangements, and rehearsals.
Don't people listen to Adam's interviews, or would they rather make up stories, because it makes good reading. All this must drive Adam crazy. Good thing he has a shoulder to lean on with Sauli :)

"Ride in a private jet with them!" - I hadnt heard that before but way toooo cool for school! I think the "new Freddie Mercury" line is used as a hook to get peoples attention but wish they wouldnt use it since it's factually incorrect. Was watching some YouTube videos today and saw Queen performing with Metallica in a tribute to Freddie. Also saw/heard George Michaels sing the lead with Queen in Somebody to Love at a hugh concert. The fans really seemed to be enjoying it, and I wondered if there had been any stink/complaints about George singing Freddies part? Anyone know? And if not, what's the difference? Yes, Adam is American and came from AI but could that be part of the problem? Really confusing to me. ... Adamluv

Yes, I don't understand what is this miasma that seems to hang about Adam? What did he ever do to attract this curse?

Anon @5:24, you have stated it so clearly that Adam is not/will not be replacing Freddie with five valid statements that you present. I was ready to make similar comments, but after I read these, I just had to agree with you. I think no matter what Adam does, what he sings , how he dresses or cuts his hair, there will always be the "haters" out there. Adam Lambert is just so good that some people can't or won't accept/acknowedge this talented performer and just look to tear him down. He will certainly rock the concert with Queen and then move on with his own album, promos and a tour. There is only one Freddie Mercury as there is only one Adam Lambert both extremely brilliant in their own right.

Anon 5:58 All of the artists at the Freddie Mercury Concert for A.I.D.S. performed Freddie's songs with Queen. There were both Americans and Brits who performed. The concert took place shortly after Freddie's death and was a tribute to Freddie and to raise money for the disease that killed Freddie. Why would anyone complain since it was obvious why they were there. Diehard Queen fans were there of course, but they don't want anyone now to take Freddie's place. It has nothing to do with Adam or that he is an American. It just has to do with extreme fans who can't let go and realize that Queen as a band can still keep the music coming for future generations with other lead singers and honor Freddie at the same time.

I'm so sick of those Freddie/Queen fans. They are mourning as if Freddie passed away yesterday and nobody should sing his songs. I didn't hear any negative comments from Whitney Houston's fans when Jennifer Hudson paid a tribute to Houtson's passing the very next day at The Grammys. As a matter a fact her cover song and music video is selling like hot cakes on iTunes. Over 20 years of Freddie death these idiot fans are still mourning over his passing. Houtson sold as many albums as Queen around the globe. I'm sure one day Hudson will be in a movie playing Whitney Huston and win another Oscar and Grammys. Why the world is cruel to Adam?

One thing that is so ironic is that Queen youtube videos have less view counts than Adam's youtube videos. Some were posted in 2006 and have like below one million views. That's weird. I guess that's one reason those idiot fans are so scared that another artist can be even better than Freddie. I read that George Michael got a lot of heat from these crazy fans when he performed with Queen at one time. NUTS! IMO George Michael's voice is better than FM and Adam's voice is even better than GM and FM.

Listen to this acoustic live performance of Freddie:

It's nice but I love Adam's acoustic performances way better! Out Law of Love or GNT WWFM or GNT Aftermath or GNT Broken Open etc.

Freddie was (and still is) Freddie and ADAM is ADAM! Both spectacular in their own rights! Adam is paying tribute to Freddie, NOT trying to be him! So tired of all the bloody trivial negativity around! ADAM will be fanbloodytastic and rock that Festival off the entire planet! The world is in for an awesome treat!

11:57 PM Thanks for the link. Shame only a small part of Queen's performance was uploaded. Didn't like the group performance of Do They Know It's Christmas.

Anyway, I think there are Queen fans who, when they think of Queen, they think of Freddie only. To them (I think) Freddie is Queen and that could be the reason they're sooooo passionate about only Freddie singing Queen's songs. JMPOV.

Adam and Freddie's voices are quite different so I'm not going to compare them but both their voices are ever so FINE!! Also, if we all loved the same performer and the same songs, the world of music would be deadly dull and boring.

Thank you @11:42. It's refreshing to read an honest statement (although you know never know what kind of backlash you'll receive....I mean....how dare someone prefer Adam's voice over Freddie's....it's as if we're not allowed to have a personal opinion without risking the wrath of FM purists.)

I feel the same way.

Whether you like Freddie or prefer Adam, you'll always have fanatics, fortunately most of these people come in small numbers. Looking back at the EMA'S, the crowd in general loved Adam's performance with Queen and I'm sure this will be the same with the Sonisphere Festival. I think it's great to see Adam have this opportunity once again, because if the US finds it hard to accept him then I'm sure the UK, Europe and the rest of the world will love and appreciate what a brilliant talent he is. I'd say that whatever happens Adam has a bright future ahead of him, he's not the type to give up, he loves what he is doing too much and with such a positive attitude he's bound to be successful.

The comments they write are so outrageous and they don't even watch the MTV EMA video that got posted on Queen fb site. They don't read the interview article and take things out of context to hate on Adam.

Talk about luck of an Indian immigrant going to UK at 17 and making it big. I don't get it. Wish I had that luck when I came to US at 15.

If you're going to call yourself the "411" you should probably have accurate information. You know, the whole "AI winner", "doing a tour" thing. Just sayin.

Does anybody who think Brian and Roger should have retired the band when Freddie died realize it was Brian and Rogers band and Freddie was a replacement singer?
