About Adam tweeting the link to "A Change is Gonna Come", I have a feeling that he may have wanted to let us know that in 2013, he will be turning a new leaf musically. I think that he HAD to do the Trespassing cd for personal reasons but now he will probably go back to a more ROCK sound. His amazing performances with QUEEN still resonate with me as well as all the superb covers he has done over the years. Just a thought.

Someone should tweet that Belfast guy the New Yorker's review of Les Mis.

He has said very clearly he wants to be a pop star, hasn't he???

6:48 -- When did he say that clearly? Don't recall him specifically saying any such thing. He always says that he likes to experiment and also to listen to a variety of music genres. Yesterday, during his 'twitter party', a fan asked him about the next album maybe being of a more 'rock' sound and Adam simply replied with the word "wink" between quotation marks. Hint maybe to what's coming...

@6:44
I somehow think along your line of thought and hoping so!

6:48 is correct, Adam has said pop is his genre and said he wants to be a pop star more than once.

I know for sure he refered to it in the Instinct magazine article:
“As a community, we’re a little bit resistant to a gay male pop star ourselves,” Lambert says.
“This is the kind of music I listen to. I know the style of vocal I have is kind of big. It has a certain edge to it. I’ve always loved rock, but I also love stuff that is more groove-based, more funky, more soulful, more dance music.”
http://instinctmagazine.com/archives/cover-story/cover-guy-adam-lambert

He frequently refers to himself as pop or compares his songs to other pop songs:
"Nowadays in pop, there's not a lot of men that are singing big and loud and high — it's not as common as it once was," Lambert says.

I'm sure someone else will remember a specific interview or tweet where he has said similar things.

There is no current rock on radio so why would he go in a more limiting direction?

At the time of the shows with Queen he said he wanted to do his own music which is pop. You may want rock but let Adam make the music he wants. Some of you are reading way more into a video and a "wink" than was likely intended.

JAK here.....Last week I commented that I had spent the day listening to the albums of the Grammy nominees for album of the year. None are POP. With the exception of Frank Ocean who is considered R&B....the other nominees are all considered in the rock genre. Mumford....Fun....Black Keys....Jack White. Perhaps Adam senses a trend that may prove advantageous to him.

There should be a America's Top Model ft. Celeberties and Adam should be on it. He is gorgeous. I love his talk as his singing. Love him and miss seeing him live performing. Hope he'll have a huge concert here in LA. Preferably Queenbert concert.

Interesting and informative post JAK, thanks very much!!

As an aside, I don't expect everyone who reads here to be as... um... "well informed" as others ;), but Adam has said soooo many times that his goal was to become relevant as a POP artist. Look, I don't know the guy (I love him but I don't know him personally :)), and lord knows he could change courses at a moments notice... but there is plenty, PLENTY, in audio/video and certainly print over the last few years where Adam has spoken about Pop relevancy being a top goal of his.

I should probably go back and change that word relevancy to something else, because it leaves kind of a bad taste in my mouth, but I am rushing... we all know that Adam is very relevant on the music scene today! Chart positions don't mean everything, ask the many many touring artists that have wonderful rewarding careers without uber huge superstardom!!! And I'll add that Adam's level of international acclaim (that's right, not just popularity but acclaim) is unparalleled by many on "mainstream" charts here!

Love ya Adam, you go in 2013 dude!!

Thanks for that info, JAK.
Although I respect ADAM's personal choice of pop genre, he should follow the Grammy's inclination now with the noms.
And rock is where he truly shines.
Even on VH1 Diva, I believe Miley stole the thunder rocking her way ( and got my respect because Im not a fan) but the one number I enjoyed the most by someone not named ADAM.

@xyz - It just goes to show there's something for everyone. Miley's number was my least favorite. While I truly believe no one can sing Rock like Adam, I think he might even have a harder time getting on the radio in the US as a Rock artist. Sadly, far too many might think Adam fits even less in that arena due to the "macho" aspects of Rock. Also, I remember Adam saying, "I'm more Beyonce than David Cook".(LOL) Love Adam soooo much. Just my opinion for what it's worth.

The Grammy nominees aren't really rock or the Queen type of rock people keep saying Adam should do. The Grammy nominees are all pop rock or folk rock or indie rock. Also, Grammy success does not automatically equal radio play so that doesn't mean he should follow that lead as xyz stated. The Grammy's aren't predictive of music trends. I do listen to top 40/AC radio and I've only heard Mumford and Sons (who I don't like) and Fun, none of the rest.

70's rock willnot make a comeback, but a new rock may be a refreshing change. The original rockers are in their 60's and 70's now and are considered nostalgia.
